  • reading the book. HELPS ALOT TO SEE THE MOVIE :P

  • One of the best novels ever.

  • Now this is what i wanted :) the novel.it is quite interesting to watch :D then to learn in class ;)

    poor pip :(

  • Who directed this?

  • @LittleCoffeeBean Julian Jarrold

  • Only watching this cos of School lol :P

  • @AngelMahi123 i feel ya bro

  • @ScopezxQuick I'm a GIRL LOL!!

  • I read the book in school, it made a big impression at the time- it's a strange premise with manipulation, intrigue and suspense.

  • I'm glad to find this version with Iaon, he's great!

  • Did the man hurt him? ...Sorry I never read it.....

  • @KissesFromHeaven07 Nope, you should read it though, the adaptations miss out the best parts

  • da jahanzeeb college da para special da ji hahahaha

  • awww its ma fav novel....

  • In love with British classics...I just hate the idea (esp Hollywood!!!) changing the classical stories into modern time settings (like Romeo + Juliet, and the Great Expectations starring Gwyneth Paltrow)

  • is this the bbc version? from 1998?

  • As it's a three-part miniseries, there's no excuse for cutting out the bulk the first graveyard encounter -- one of the best scenes in the book. But it's beautiful visually, and I like the kid. Fingers crossed.

  • there is no one capable of making a movie about Britain than Britains themselves cheers BBC.. :)

  • @xGeerFreedx You're absolutely welcome. I had the same problem at school when we read this. People were too incompetent to understand it so they called it boring.

  • This seems to have a much darker fee,l to me, then the novel.

  • joe is not actualy how i imagined

  • Now Way! I'm reading Great Expectations, I thought it would be excellent that the BBC did an adaptation, and the 1st video I found is the BBC adaptation! I'll watch the complete movie!

  • is it wrong that I laugh at this?

  • @tuhrisha

    Yep, it's pretty damn wrong.

  • Amazing book! :D I always thought Pip's sister to be a bitch...

  • what is the meaning of the tittle someones knows?

  • @lavanguardiadelsol Pretty much what "great expectations' means is that there is much expected for a person. That is, who they will become, that they expect great things of them. In this case, since Pip has been given chances to succeed and (**spoiler alert**) will great a great inheritance, there are now people how have 'great expectations' for him.

  • @sumrblizrd thanks fot the answer, you the espextation of pin's work? don0t u think is also about their afective relantionship...

  • she's mean :(

  • A PO POLSKU KURWAA?

  • Svenska! Haha, vad glad jag blev! :D

  • I would like to know where is the rest f the mive after the 12/12 chapter or segment??

  • i google translated and found that language is german

  • i believe most of these things in this movie is about charles dickens childhood

  • Bernard Hill is great in this scene! The line about eating Pip's Liver could easily have been delivered by him.

  • this is a song about great expectations, and its pretty interesting and funnny: youtube.com/watch?v=i3qCEzb3BkY

  • thumps up if you were scared in the beginning. lol

  • This boy does not look like a Pip to me.

  • Is this the one with the original ending or the re-edited one ?

  • Thank you so much for uploading this! <3

  • wot accents they were speaking? from southwest england? i'm a non-English native speaker, just curious =]

  • is it english :O ?? ;)

  • :'D Swedish text too! ;D

  • I remember this being broadcast on the BBC 10/11 years ago. It's a great adaptation, capturing all that's best from Dickens' novel

  • I watch the play yesterday for this show and the actors were so amazing

  • LUV TEH QUALITY PLUS IT HAS COLORS...YAY!!

  • ok,i need to know..is this a good adaptation of the book??PLEASE LET ME KNOW ASAP!:)

  • this is a good movie. i had to do this for a school assignment

  • I received this on DVD from Holland, another BBC Classic one cant buy in England but im glad i bought it as its excellent and well worth a watch, think i'll sit through it again.

  • oh my goodness SUUPER good quality

  • @andreita0824

yeah it's better to load in AVI form if you can, it takes longer to upload but it's a crisper picture

  • is this accurate enough so that i can use this instead of the book??

  • @xxsavagewolfxx School assignment?

  • @kitemann000 yess... bc this is y im watchin it!

  • Joe's too old!!

  • "If this is a classic? Where is John Mills?

  • @Skatingangel44 just paint her face red and put horns to make it complete - then you'll the the face people see in hell

  • i ever read this story

  • UGHH such bad quality! it stopped after only 23 seconds! grrrrr this vid sux >:(

  • @xoOJDxo1994 Hm gee that's strange considering it just played it all for me without stopping and videos with excellent quality stop within the first 3 seconds...hmmm...

  • Does the man who played pip Also play horatio hornblower?

  • @Zeppo3 Yes Ioan Gruffud who also appeared in the Fantastic Four, which is a bit of a change in direction

  • thanx

  • Thank you for posting n sharing. enjoy....linking ~ connecting ~~~

  • Expected better from the BBC

  • I love you guys

  • It's nice when they actually use children to portray children. :^) It was funny to see in an older version that they had Estella just dress up like a little girl and we were supposed to believe she was the same age as Pip!

  • i like the black and white version of this,,, but yea awesome book!!

  • WHY DOES IT KEEP PAUSING?!?!?!

  • I do believe you had a slow internet connection, ma'amselle.

  • @xoxoBeatlesLovexoxo you too!!!

  • me parece que la pelicula es muy buena pero cambian muchas cosas con respecto de la novela

    y ese Jose es . . . :)

  • I've just recently started really getting into the Dickens stories since I got the complete illustrated Oxford Dickens as a gift recently, I started at 'Sketches By Boz'

and am now just getting into 'Martin Chuzzlewit'.

  • I love Charles Dickens, and this is definately one of his best books. It was only a matter of time before it became a movie, and it's only a matter of time before it becomes a musical...can't wait for that. :)

  • @MostlyExistent A musical??? LOL can you imagine what kind of song Miss Havisham would sing? :P

  • this is i think my favourite book awesome ....

  • why? we are reading it in class. i dont think it is that good. dickens dragggggs out every situation.. and i honestly find it boring.

  • @jbanana755 so do I

  • It wasn't meant to be read all at once, that's why its like that. Used to be sent out monthly kind of like how comic books are today.

  • BEST book of all time :) My absolute, number one favouriiite.

And I LOVE Joee! Hahaa...he's so funnyyy.

Oh, this made me laugh so much:

'Mrs-what's the name of them wild beasts with humps, old chap?''

''Camels?'' said I, wondering why he could possibly want to know. Joe nodded. "Mrs. Camels," by which I presently understood he meant Camilla.

    HAHA. Gotta love Joe :D

  • the book is amazing

  • is it me or the movie keeps pausing

  • keeps pausing

  • is this the one with gwyneth paltrow?

  • No. The one with Paltrow and Ethan Hawk is a modern adaptation while this is a classical one

  • @LadyAmaltheaUnicorn, a classical adaptation is the ONLY WAY to transfer a classic book, play or poem to the screen. doing it any other way is a disservice to the author and the fans of the source material.

  • It's not gay if you can actually comprehend it.

  • WELL I CAN comprehend it im taking honors lit.

  • I never said you couldn't. But most people can't and that's why they dislike it. Anywho it is not "gay". You can dislike the novel, but that doesn't mean it is a bad one.

  • I'm supposed to be reading this. As fas ar chapter 10 right now. Goddamn book keeps falling apart. Every time I turn a page it comes out. It's a 1956 edition... Very helpful when you're trying to read LOL

  • I'm a complete reading freak, and I read this book when I was in fifth grade, because I've read his other books, but for some reason I didn't get it... lol

  • THERE"S A MOVIE?!?!?! YAYAYAYAYAYAY ive been trying to read this for a month and procrastinated. test on thursday... AP prep english boezman

  • me too!

  • Been working with the novel ever since school started (:

I really need to watch this, aha.

  • OMG there's a movie of it now?

LOL I'm reading this in my honors class!!

For some reason, I couldn't understand some parts of it....the words they use at least.

    Good book, though. :D

    thx for uploading!

  • Charles Dickens used very wordy language indeed! But hey, it's easier thank Shakespeare. I would know :)

  • I've read the first part of the novel and it was kinda funny... The version of "globe novels" is so much interesting and detailed (with less deep words) than the unabridged versions. xD

  • this video is good

  • for me my charles dickens fetish came about when i was thirteen my reading teacher encouraged me to pick a classic novel "Oliver twist" After that i made my mom go to barnes and noble with me and buy me david copperfield...little dorrit ...and...this one i've loved them ever since and i love pbs's adaption of little dorrit with matthew macfadyen..thnx for uploading:)
