  • lolol if you think THAT's a small town, you've obviously never been to where I'm from. Type Kerhonkson, new york into the search bar...

  • A) that was not the high school, that was the adult school

    B) M stands for mission prep, not madonna.

  • @ephon4life Wrong Dork M was for Alex Madonna .

  • Looks dry.

  • the m stands for mission

  • Do the town a favor...............keep the blacks and indians OUT. Diversity will ruin the town.

  • @funnygrl246, its awesome to hear someone your age with a true apreceation for where they live.

  • Well RockNRococo,

We'll be glad you don't come. You probably have a penis small as hell.

  • Fun town, I grew up there, never met a student that didn't love it.

  • Great video, so freakin' cool to see a place like this before you go there. :D I have plans on living in SLO (as my brother who lives there, calls it) and being central between San Diego/LA and San Fran, etc. is pretty cool too! Just a 'slightly' big state! lol

    Thanks man

  • Well hey, im form there. Its a nice place huh?

  • I stayed in SLO 3 years ago whilst driving around the west coast - what a fab place, the locals were so welcoming. I am from th UK and have told many of my friends to visit this postcard place if they can

  • cool vid! I'm a skater, in San Luis Obispo, and i'd say there's really not that much skate spots except for the high school and the skate park, and curbs to stairs!

I heard that the mountains (the nine sisters) used to be volcanic mounts, even the morro bay rock, and there are two under water!

  • I grew up in San Luis Obispo from 1976 - 1993. I moved back twice since 1993, but it was short-lived. My parents are still living there as are 2 of my brothers and their families. I went to Sinsheimer Elementary, Laguna Jr High and San Luis High (class of '89). It was an great place to grow up back in the 70's and 80's. It's one of the most beautiful places, and has some of the best weather. I am now living in Boise, Idaho which is also nice, however I do miss the ocean and ideal weather.

  • My mom grew up and lived in SLO until she was about 25. My grandparents still live there. Last summer I was so proud because I finally climbed Bishop's Peak. I love this town. Anyone else been to Avila beach? It's my favorite.

  • well done ,I have family there ,visited a few times in the 1990.

  • the m on Madonna Mt. is owned by the Mission Private School. just for a little heads up :)

  • SLO even in 2000 was still a small town but it was even smaller like in the 80s but its still growing its still a little town but not small anymore it a boring place but a nice place to retire

  • this was filmed from terrace hill and my fiance lives at the down the street from the entrance!

  • I find it interesting, reading the comments here, all of the different opinions people have about SLO. Anyway, thanks for educating me on the names of some of the mountains. I've lived here for a couple years, so I should know that, anyway.

  • The "M" does NOT stand for Madonna it stands for Mission because at the base of the mountain is Mission college prep high school. thats where i went to school and every year we had to hick up and paint the "M".

  • true

  • No, SLO is not a small town anymore. I grew up there when it was only about 10,000 people, it was a nice town then. Now it's way too big and all sorts of construction has taken it's toll. I agree the the person that left the coment about the noise and the college students. SLO USE TO BE A N

  • I agree. It's getting too big. I lived in the area for almost 10 years. I went to CPSLO from 1990-1997. I bought a home in Los Osos but sold it in 2002. I'll miss the Del Monte Cafe, Sylvester's, Frank's Franks, the Chocolate Soup (now defunct), Morro Bay and the rock, trips to San Simeon past Cambria, and, of course, Farmer's Market. If offered a chance to come back, I won't. You just can't go back. It isn't the same.

  • i love this town. i'm far from it now, but i appreciate this video very much.

  • I'm From Slo I lived on Calfornia,BLVD

    Slo is so Beautful

  • haha i lived here for 10 years my dad owns pizza solo man its funny seein this

  • Its a great town. i was born there. True it is very costly to live there. and alot of great food yummy frozen yogurt. COUNTRY CULTURE IS DA BOMB BABY.

  • yeahhh i painted the M for school... for sure stands for mission like these smart people said.. not madonna

  • this is my town. Ive lived here for 8 years but i feel like ive lived here my whole life. i would defend this town to the death.

  • yea buddy im a san luis native and the M is not for Madonna its for Mission Prep

  • Bishop(s) peak

  • The "M" on the Cerro San Luis is NOT for "Madonna." Although the Madonna family has owned the mountain for some time, the "M" was placed their long before and stand for "Mission High School," which is a parochial school located at the foot of the mountain. It is part of Old Mission Catholic Church which was one of the 21 original CA missions founded by Father Junipero Serra.

  • Dude this is not a small town I grew up in a small town and live here now. This is not a small town. This is just a great big ole retirement home and college town intertwined. Rent is high as hell, there is a shit load of traffic, People making noise all night, you cant see the stars anymore cause there is two much light at night. I have lived here all my life and I am starting to consider leaving due to the fact this town cares nothing for its people just college students and tourism.

  • You grew up in a small town and live here now.....later on you say you lived here all your life........what gives?

  • Thats not the high school...thats the dschool district. high school is below it.

  • I know that town. So peaceful from the hill. Just gotta get down to the street.
