This is a great solo. My only criticism of Stu is that I never hear him play straight fingerstyle stuff during his solos. He's extremely versatile, though. We heard good two hand tapping, great slapping and melodic chords all in one solo. I just wish he'd do a little more likk Jaco. Maybe I'm just a purist.
You folks that think that playing chords on bass is gay are a bunch of dumbasses. chords that are "Gay" are chords played with picks. bass guitar is finger food...
Someone please tell me what the name of the song in the beginning is and who it is by and where I could possibly find the music for it. If anyone knows, let me know. Thanks.
The people buuuu him all along the concert (fyi it's Live In San Francisco 2001). In fact during the solo is when the booo him the least. I'm not sure why, but AudioX64 must be right, cause Satriani says "They 'stu' him 'cause they love him" at the end of "Satch Boogie" during the same performance.
its on a dvd called Joe Satriani Live in San Francisco (the filmore club i think) The first part of the bass solo is a Joe Satriani song played the track before the bass solo on the DVD i think(?)
stu hamm is one of the greatest bass players of the past 30 years. his versatility and skill at all styles of playing is what makes him one of the best. you, JordanTheBassmasta, just have a small penis. and, if you had any knowledge about music at all you would know that speed does not define a great musician.
Well...fine..but...*loses miserably*. Fine, I concede this time. But still, someone tell me that its not silly that you can search this video, and theres hundreds of the same video. Either way, its a good solo.

Hey you're the one who plays the intro to classical thump even though it has already been done ad nauseam. Find other stuff to get all enraged over.
