  • The sky is blue because when the sunlight hits our atmosphere the colours of the shortest wavelength (violet and blue) get scattered all over the place. Our eyes are more sensitive to see blue.

  • Two protons walk into a black hole... HAHAHA

  • this just mde my morning so much better lol

  • A proton is sitting at a bar having a drink...

Another proton walks in, and starts hitting on the first one.

After several uncussesful attempts, the second one says to the first one, "Well why not?".

The first one replies "Sorry. I'm just not attracted to you."

The seccond one says "Well if you want to be negative..."

  • @SinnFein4ever Same-electrical charge marriage is immoral. God made Proton-Adam and Electron-Eve, not Proton-Adam and Positron-Steve

  • @SinnFein4ever Funny, but wouldn't those be electrons?

  • @SinnFein4ever lol...

  • @SinnFein4ever lmfao, even though i've heard this before.

  • Who can't like these videos?

  • hehehehehe

  • In the beginning there was the word, the world was SHAPELESS and the spirit of the LORD hovered over the SURFACE of the water...

if everything was SHAPELESS, why is there a SURFACE?

  • ever see a water in space? mabye thats what it looked like

  • @SubzeroFusion So in the beginning there was the word, a shapeless world, the spirit of the lord and water that had a surface. Strange that people keep saying that in the beginning there was nothing, right?

  • The sky is not blue . The depth make it appears like it is.

  • Your so wrong, it appears blue because the blue part of the light spectrum hahs the shortest waves, so it has the largest diffusion of all parts of the light, the a part of the light diffuses in the atmosphere the more the sky appears just like it....

sorry, my english is not perfect yet!^^

  • Rayleigh Scattering

  • Yes, but somehow that never gets a laugh.

Did you know Einstein helped figure it out?

Rayleigh thought the scattering is caused by dust & water in the air. If this were true, there would be more variation of sky color with humidity or haze conditions.

In 1911, Einstein's calculations showed the light scattering is actually caused by the molecules of oxygen & nitrogen.

More details by Philip Gibbs in the Physics & Relativity FAQ.

  • Maybe if you said it like a seven year old child when they know the answer to a question. They start jumping up and down screaming it with their hand up in the air. That is something you will never see though.

  • Yes, you're right.

Anyway, I have sometimes gone on to explain the real reason... but, if I give the actual answer to begin with, then there is no joke. Just a question and the right answer.... which is fine for a lecture. Not so good for a stand up routine.

  • True. The reason I am saying that is because one time I knew a seven year old who was doing the same thing. Smart child but couldn't contain herself when she knew the answer and I wanted to see if others knew. Believe it or not she knows what Rayleigh Scattering is, and after that I had her tested for the gifted and talented program. She is in that program now and doing well. Found out she was bored and that was the reason she acted like that.

  • Impressive. I don't think most people have a clue why the sky is blue. I don't think it even occurs to most people to wonder about it.

  • That is what is missing today. That child like wonder and the joy of finding the answer. That is what science is for. The joy of finding the answer.

  • Right on! Testify!

  • Nowadays people are willing to accept Goddidit! as a valid answer.

  • is it not a valid answer?

  • @smcneal057 The REAL answers lol

  • @smcneal057 instead of making it a neccesity just ask them the question and they are gonna wanna find it out themselves

  • Acualy I think that most people wonder about those things, but for the most part they tend to do as I do, witch is." wonder why the sky is blue, find no obvios answer, wonder how I might find out, think that takes a lot of work and time to find out, and deside that wether I put in the work and time will not make the sky change color or be in any other way likely to change anthing in my life, and then decide that I could instead use my time on my girlfriend, who makes me wonder all the time" :)

  • Exactly. And by not giving the answer away, it encourages people to go find out, if they didn't know already. And really, how many people go to a science comedy show to learn instead of laugh. It's what doesn't need to be explained that makes it funny.

  • hahah funny guy!

  • Because I said so :D

  • cris keller haley

  • Rofl rofl rofl rofl aka i lol'd.
