  • lol people are crazy, why didnt u just eat the apples and pears. you will at least get full from it. I eat 3 apples for lunch every day, smoothies with spinach and bananas and other fruits for breakfast and one with carrots and squash and fruit for dinner. mmmm

  • Grow some coffee plants then you will be set!

  • i'd be interested to see a wheat crop... that's an essential...

  • not necessarily an "essential" the cave men didn't have bread and they did alright. That being said I would love to have wheat too just don't feel it's essential as you can get every nutrient from wheat through other means.

  • @JohnRLewis84 you're exactly right -

but you definitely need some grain or

staple food like lentils or rice or oats...

i'm not sure how hard it is to grow your own

staple grains but i guess it's worth trying.

there's not much point trying to be self-sufficient

if you can't rationally afford it

  • one day is not much of a challenge. done it. not hard. but good go at it anyways. :)

  • interesting concept...good video...keep them coming

  • Good Luck :D

  • Good luck! Great idea!

  • lol, thanks fleur!

  • you're so cool!!

  • I too wish you luck. No coffee...now that's gotta be hard!!! An experiment well worth doing by all of us.

  • hi bio

i've heard of it but never tried it, i might give it a go!

  • Great experiment. We like to do that occasionaly aswell.

  • Good luck!

Have you tried roasting dandelion root for a coffee substitute. Not as good, but not too bad either.

  • gona be a nice little detox there

  • Great idea and good luck. My family and I have a weekly or sometimes bi-weekly no power day in which we flip all the circuit breakers off except the fridge for at least 24 hrs. This is especially hard with 2 kids 2 & 6 lol. We just moved to a house with just over an acre of land, bought chicks, apple trees, and started a half acre veg garden. Your vids have been very helpful in getting started especially with some basics that others assume everyone already knows. Your friend in New Hampshire USA

  • (or indeed oil from seeds!)

    Oh, and GOOD LUCK! :)

  • Could you grow an olive tree where you live? For olive oil?

I have seen the big wooden, hand made oil presses and its very impressive but within the scope of most people with a big enough land area, a hot, dryish?? climate and enough time for the trees to get to that stage.

    5/5 interesting vid!

  • Love this idea! "Animal, Vegetable, Miracle" by Barbara Kingsolver has the same premise as "The Good Life" mentioned by Kittenkatten below. I LOVED this book and the idea of living of what you grow/raise. Looking forward to your next videos.

  • Great experiment! I don't know if you ever read the Book "The Good Life" by Helen and Scott Nearing. They only eat and drank what they grew. Good luck.

  • Great experiment, brother. Growing one's own food is empowering. Best of luck realizing a new level as you unplug for a day!

    -Good Vibes
