it's a gretsch filtertron and i think he was using a Zvex pedal but i cant be totally sure. i'm not sure if he even has filtertrons in that particular guitar.

Actually, I've heard that the guitar he was using around that time had microphonic pickups, not the usual pickups you're referring to.

Also, I was able to pick up some voice and whistles with alnico humbuckers and enough volume and tone. It wasn't like MM though. :P

In my opinion that is the venue they are playing in. The walls in the place were painted black like that and the stage is in the same spot. Also, they played Tundra/Desert at basically every show back then. So we have some people who think it's 5/8/98, 5/11/98 and I'll go with 5/10/98. The mystery deepens.
