@jetblackskye your welcome jsut out of curiosity at what speeds do you shift into gears? 1st to 2nd 2nd to 3rd and so on? my car in first is tragic, ill be going 15mph and i need to shift because all it does is make noise haha
Average Street Driving I think I'd shift at 20, 35, 50, 65? Something like that.
For racing I don't remember, I don't have the car anymore, but I know that I could do over 100 in 3rd and the top speed was about 180 (and to all you haters, thats no lie, do the math with 400hp, the SR Gearbox, a 3.91 final drive, and a drag coefficient of .31)
@EYEREIVEPRODUCTIONS No shit Sherlock, a sleeper can be any car. A sleeper is a car that has high performance but intentionally looks to be ordinary. So someone thinks they can shit on you, but in reality they just got shit on....
I love sleepers, but my 240 wasn't really one of them, the rims, exhaust, and FMIC kinda gave it away, but it was discrete. And its true that a stock 240sx isnt really fast, it has a performance kinda look, so people don't really assume they are as slow as they actually are.
As far as any car being a sleeper, I disagree. If you pull up next to someone in a Viper no one is going to take you lightly, stock or otherwise = cars like the viper can never be sleepers.
@jetblackskye Well, when i said any car i wasn't really meaning anything like that lmao. Just "normal" cars i guess you could say. I love your 240 by the way. Love at first sight with a 240's...........
@EYEREIVEPRODUCTIONS -.- Ordinary meaning that it doesn't look like it has turbo or anything else that would give it the appearance of being fast. And the reason people make sleepers is so people think they can easily race you, but then they end up loosing. You are stupid. My friend owns a 300zx sleeper with custom built twin turbo. A 300zx isn't an ordinary car either, but it hides its fast attributes by showing any boost gauges hidden away, like out of plain sight. Understand?
@EYEREIVEPRODUCTIONS A 240sx has a min bhp of 140 stock. 155 for 91+. Also, it is a 20 year old car, so it could have way less than that. A 240 can have anywhere from 100 bhp to 1,000 bhp.
By ordinary he meant "not a typical ricer car".
Don't get me wrong, the 240sx is the greatest car ever created. Just clearing you up on the facts.
@Mr450 I'm just playing around, the first one is the intercooler sprayer and the other ones were just for show. They didn't do anything other than light up.
I had a cometic head gasket and arp studs, but other than that I had stock internals. I had 370Whp at 22psi. I'd recommend getting some good cams it'll help with spool and HP. Definitely get a good exhaust system. I had all megan racing parts from the block back.
@jetblackskye Mate i own two sr20's both in stock form, you'd be LUCKY to get 300 hp out of them on a safe tune, even with the rare wednesday engines. And just as a quick FYI, SR22DET Stroker is good for about 450 hp :)
Um???Yeah. Lucky to get 300hp with a stock turbo maybe. I've made 400+ HP on both of my SR20's with stock internals. Upgraded head gaskets and turbos. Both with very safe tunes. And the 2.2 stroker is good to about 600whp.
@jetblackskye Ok, You go run 22 psi through your "400hp+" sr20det on stock internals. Have fun when you spin number 2/3 bearings and put a hole in your pistons. BTW just another FYI, SR20DET 550cc injectors, GT2871R, PFC with Z32 AFM, FMIC, 3 inch tb exhaust, greddy intake manifold made 297.3 rwhp. And I have a dyno sheet to prove it. Where's yours?
Ok looks like you need some education. The Number 4 main bearing is the one that is most common to failure on SR's due to oil starvation. It has nothing to do with boost pressure. Putting a hole on a piston is due to preignition and that can be avoided with a good tune and keeping carbon deposits from forming and using the right plugs.
I've added the link in the description from my cardomain page. There is my dyno sheet at the bottom of the graph.
I"m not really sure what sort of point you are trying to prove, I drove my car as a daily driver for over 2 years at 22psi and my motor never had any issues.
Take a look at my mod list.
Wait... 297 on a GT2871R?? Thats sad bro. Get a different tuner. Look at my mod list.
Oh and by the way used to own a tuning shop. I know my crap, it's obvious you don't.
@BittererWesley Are you really that stupid ??? This guy is running stupid ammounts of boost, on a "STOCK" engine, and i use that term LOOSELY. I know what SR's are capable of. I own two. And have done nearly every type of conversion to them
SR20DE+T, SR20DET, SR22DET, and now SR23DET. So I do know what they are capable of.
Yeah, this pilotboy gets a bit excited. My cometic head gasket was 1.1mm thick btw. It helped lower my compression ratio allowing me to run more boost on the stock internals.
Now pilot boy, if you are talking about FWD SR20's (like the Sentra/G20 ones) Then yes 300whp is definitely pushing the limits. But if you are talking about the RWD ones (180sx, Silvia) then 400+ hp has been done many many times over.
@BittererWesley My apologies good sir. Trash is exactly what this engine will end up as. I see people doing stupid things to SR's and realise that they aren't THAT strong an engine. 400 hp out of a stock bottom end. Yeah... Right.
@jetblackskye You should be banned from owning any form of Forced Induction. Go back to your pushrod powered v8 barges that you're used to, and leave the high tech stuff to the smart people
@pilotboy84 Why would you choose an SR for you 240sx if it wasn't for the fact that it has strong internals? You don't have to believe me, but I'm telling you putting 400hp out of a stock bottom end SR is not only ok, its very common to do, and when tuned correctly it can be done safely. People blow up SR's but running too much boost without the right fuel supply and/or the right tune, or they go drifting without changing the oil pan.
Either way you are incorrect, the SR20 can handle 400+hp.
@jetblackskye dude dude your crazy okay yes these sr20's are very good engine's if left stock they can handle high mile's but stock internals and stuff is really bad!!! your going to either crack a piston throw a rod bend a cam or blow the valve seats your stupid just save yourself the shit and get yourself some forged pistons for better compressions and eagle rods trust me it'll be the best then!
Why does no one read?? Everyone is thinking I just installed this setup yesterday. Look at the date it was posted. I ran the setup for TWO YEARS daily. It was fine.Lots of fuel, conservative timing. I wouldn't personally push more that 400whp out of a stock bottom end, but it can be done. Yes 450+ at the crank and you should start upgrading internals.
@jetblackskye not really you can do up 450 or 500 but that would only be good for daily driving and some dyno pulls cause boosted you need to swap shit out if you run more than stock boost
@xstr33tr4cerx Not really sure what you mean. This was my daily driver for about 3 years. I ran 22psi. Stock is 7psi. I didn't need to swap out any internals except for headstuds and the head gasket. And I have seen several SR20s running about 450whp with stock internals. (not something i'd do, but it can be done)
@csidaznigga No, I had enjuku racing install most of it, projekt 7 tuning some other stuff, and installed a bit here and there. The whole build was over the course of about a year.
Well you see the first one is nos, second one is spike strip, third is a smoke screen and well the last one.. thats just to defrost the rear window ;)
ok, so i need someones advice on my car. i got a 91 240sx with the ka24de in it. i got the car with a broken cam, and a couple teath broke off the idler gear. got a new head, new cams, new gear and all that, but what im trying to decide is weather or not to put higher compression pistons in it, or lower, cuz i want to put a turbo on it eventually....whats your opinions? also, i was thinking about going with eagle rods....
You don't want to mix high compression and forced induction. If you build the bottom end just go with forged rods and pistons, arp bolts.. I'm pretty certain stock compression is fine for ka-t.I was almost ka-t, not doing until I absolutely HAVE to rebuild the motor. It's still holding up dammit! lol
thanks for the info. i think im just gonna end up putting my motor back together the way it is, and buy another ka and build that one, put a turbo on it, and drop it in. im tired of not having any wheels lol
Badass car. any clue what the 0-60 time is? I have an S14 im hoping to build up to around 350-400hp and am hoping to run against a local porsche lol..im just looking for about a 5.2 0-60 or so..but have no clue what kinda power i should be running.
LOL, anything you do to your engine can cause serious damage if its not set up right. I've used nitrous many times and never had an issue. Its common practice to use nitrous to help spool up a large turbo for drag races, or (like in this case) to spray and intercooler to chill it down.
The 30R will get full boost around 4800rpm, if you have good cams you can bring that down a little, but it is very much like an on-off switch. It kinda becomes less fun to drive on the street and more of just a drag of highway battle machine at that point.
Nice

You are a douche bag hahahha
My SR makes 423 hp on 22 pounds. :)
Stock bottom end with Brian crower 272's
And a forced performance 20 G turbo.
400+ hp is easily made on an sr with the right tuning and plenty of fuel up grades.
I've actually seen about 6 of them in person make 500+ hp on a 100% stock internal Sr
Just throw a shut ton of e85 at it. :). Lol

The 30R will get full boost around 4800rpm, if you have good cams you can bring that down a little, but it is very much like an on-off switch. It kinda becomes less fun to drive on the street and more of just a drag of highway battle machine at that point.
