Did Michael Jackson and Quincy Jones steal the melody from John Williams for "We are the World" from this...starts at 32", in piccolo, followed by another statement by the brass and flutes/piccolo.
A wonderful and gifted actor and a true gentleman. Roy was a great star who always identified with the ordinary guy and never had any vanity and was just so down to earth. Even when he blew the shark to pieces in "JAWS" he was just an ordinary guy trying to survive and the audience could identify with that.
I'm looking forward to Roy Scheider's final flick Iron Cross...unfortunately theres not much out on it yet so I'm taking it upon myself to spread the word haha
Thank you all for your nice comments. I hope we will remember him for a long time, he was one of the best actors ever. Let your children watch his movies, he will inspire them too!
This has to be one of the nicest tributes I've seen for him. Brought tears to my eyes. He was my childhood hero, the reason I'm a shark biologist today, and he'll be greatly missed. Thank you for this video!
Lovely tribute, I always like this music from Jaws, it's a lovely melody that has always been obviously overshadowed by the main theme, nice closing scene.
Nice one! I liked that you also included a seaQuest clip.

Good actor. I´ll always remembered by Jaws.
Good roles in The french connection, Jaws, Marathon man, Jaws 2 & Blue thunder.

This is the best of all the Scheider tributes I've seen. It gives a nice overview of many of his films, not just Jaws. (Sorcerer!)
Thanks.
