OMG remember the one with Henry Mancini track on called "Carol for another Christmas, thats the one with the horses. does anyone have that one, man we're getting old!!!!
This is VERY nostalgic to me as well. I grew up in Montreal during this time and I used to watch these vignettes all the way through all the time. I believe those were Montreal's golden years!
@imajeepster I remember very well these musical interludes during the Holiday Season while back on CFCF 12. I'm 42 now. The one with the horses running had this Henry Mancini track on called "Carol for another Christmas". Check out the song here on YouTube.. Hope it brings back memories. Happy Holidays! :)
I'm looking for the intermedes that used to play during the Flintstones in the late 70's or the early 80's. It was a winter with kids sliding, skating. The misic was played by piano and I would love to hear it agin but I don't know the name of it nor the artist's name who plays it... does anyone know?
Yes exactly, like someone mentioned stunningly beautiful and depressing at the same time. I also remember another one that showed horses running in the snow on a farm with music and singing that could be Elvis.
Aside from this one and "Leaving on a Jet Plane", I also seem to remember an oft-played vignette showing scenes from Montreal's Chinatown and with majestic Chinese music. Definite brownie points for anybody who can find and post that one.
I remember this AND the cross country skiers thing. I also remember one that featured kids riding horses, I think in some sort of riding lesson scenario. I STILL can hear the music that played with it in my head. Anyone remember/have that one?
Thank you for posting this!! Do you remember what year CFCF 12 started showing this? I was a teenager in 1980 i think it goes back to there. Stunningly depressing and beautiful at the same time. Brings back childhood memories driving to grandparents for Christmas. It really seems from another world ago.
I will go even better - I remember on Sunday Afternoons when CFCF used to show Roller Derby action with co-ed team - Skinny Minney Miller was drafted to play for the Canadian team as well as Paul "The Bear" who used to give bear hugs to eliminate his opponents.
Born in Montreal (Brossard) in 1965 (actually all my family are Montreal natives) - left for Mississauga, Ontario in June 1978. Dad worked for Northern Electric on Shearer Street in The Point.
I remember this Season's Greetings interlude from the early 70s. I do remember as well the Saturday Morning show about nothing more than Cross-Country skiing - can't think of the name either - but it will come to me. Brings back a lot of memories. :)
wow!..the good old day's of cfcf 12..what happend to those great year's..i remember saterday afternoon's wacthing superstars of wrestling, followed by saterday cinema at 1pm then for a while cfcf aired twilight zone...anyway this prommo bring's me to a very good place back in time.
sweet jesus... thank you for uploading this!!! I TOTALLY got the chills from watching this old clip.... just like you, I used to watch these all the time... I really wish they would run them again... not new ones... the old ones... Magical stuff. :)
Hah, I thought I was the only one who remembered that airport vignette! I recall scenes of Mirabel and possibly Dorval too. Whenever I hear John Denver's "Leaving on a Jet Plane" I immediately think of that specific vignette! I'd love to see it again! Didn't it come on just before The Flintstones or Spiderman would air at noon?
Hey, anyone remember a CFCF12 summer show called "Hi Noon" with Ralph Lockwood? I vaguely remember dancing letters in the title, must have been in the very early 80's.
@Apple2gs I asked Shanksworthy if he had it but he never answered me!! I want the airport vignette real bad!!! I used to come home from school during lunch time and used to see it every day.I loved it(more than the Flintstones!!!!).If you EVER get a copy of it,,please let me know. Thanks
@phinds1 Sorry about that; I definitely remember Leaving on a Jet Plane one as well! But unfortunately I don't have it, nor do I have any of the other vignettes that CFCF-12 used to show.
BTW, do you remember in the '70's or early 80's on Saturday mornings (before the cartoons started) there used to be a show that was nothing more than footage of people cross-country skiing? For some reason I associate that show with the Jet Plane bumper.
Sorry pal, no i dont remember the other songs, although i thought it was these same titles as you posted. nonetheless, i sent a message to CFCF and the link and perhaps they will care enough to put them back up, or at least send us a copy.
:)
If you read these posts CFCF, a lot of us LOVED this period, this interlude, this memory, share it back with us.
I remember that one as well. Do you recall what the accompanying song was? I remember there were at least 2 other CFCF-12 Seasons Greetings vignettes, featuring the songs "Petit Pere Noel" and "Trois Anges Sont Venus Ce Soir".
Wow, this is great. The Mauriat arrangement is haunting and perfectly complemented by the winter scenes, especially those showing the sun shining on the snow. It's so nice to see this again after all these years. I last recall seeing it around 1994. Thanks for this!
I'm glad there are others out there who remember and appreciate this obscure bit of nostalgia.
It would be great if we could get someone to post the ones that featured Mauriat's other Christmas songs like "Trois Anges Sont Venus Ce Soir" and "Petit Papa Noel".
I passed this along to a friend who also fondly remembered this vignette and like me had been hoping it would turn up on YouTube. I sent him the audio from the Mauriat album I found online, but it just wasn't the same. I sent him the link to this and he told me it made his day.

"Academy Performance" as it got spelled out in cursive writing...anyone remember (usually followed by a James Bond movie!)
Great stuff.
Thanks
