I imagine those were planted. Monterey Cypress are typically in and around streams. For the first time in 20 years I saw some on the Colorado River South of Austin. I know them well from the Guadulupe. What's the history on those trees, how old? Do you know who planted them? Did you get the wood milled up, I hope so, or what a waste.
That was one hairy tree. i dont think would have attempted it from the ground. Judge weight, rotten, lean, wind. Steppy stuff. Good to see your still at it alone. Soloist do it all!
it looked like the crotch would fail with a cut near it, I've had them do that on a smaller scale, a boom would not have worked? your still a exellent arborist!
Nice vid Jer! That was insane! Too bad you don't get the respect you deserve from gasteraner, but I guess it just shows his ignorance for commenting, with out paying attention when you said that "the tree had been deemed to hazardous to climb"....oh well...LOL!
What type of axe and where can one find one for sale?

I would have cut the trifurcated tree trunks as individuals as you often get included bark running down the middle

Those roots looked pretty rotten on the single. We often assume that the parts we cannot see underground are solid. Most of the time we are right.
