one more question. when i play chords on my Double AC, they seem overly loud compared to the rest of the notes.

the chords in this very song, in fact. is that deceptive and they are not in fact that loud, or am I making an error somewhere?

Well generally chords sound loud compared to other notes because you're blowing 2 ocarinas instead of one.

Some technique is needed to make the chords not sound so loud, such as directing slightly away from the microphone during the chord.

The Focalink Forte has a chiffy tone, like Maparam's. Rather different from the "pure" tone of the standard Focalink, interestingly :-S

You can play it on a Soprano C if you stretch the high notes. But that is not easy to do.

Maparam Double = Sweet, Mellow and Warm ocarina

Both are top class ocarinas, but are different in personality. It is up to your preference ;)

Yes, this is the Samson C01U.

It will probably be my microphone for a long time.

$80 is about as cheapest you can get for decent recording equipement :-S

Proper equipment gets more complicated, requiring "pre-amps" or mixers and better microphones.. easily from hundreds to thousands of dollars T_T

The extra hole on the second chamber middle finger is a "subhole". You normally leave it open, but use it for playing some sharps/flats (like F#).

If you close all the holes including the subhole, you play D !

Well it has a capacity to be used with strong breathe, meaning that a lot of energy can be put into playing.

The stronger breathe is more evident in the second and third chambers.
