Whitney i really admired your dressing on stage and off stage always covered your body unlike other artists who sell by exposing their bodies really admirable, and you beat them all as you sold the most albums your voice did it for you, you are such a good role model.R.I.P
One of the favorites. Guess I'm biased, but Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis biggest rival at the time this album dropped, L.A. & Babyface lucked out and accomplished this feat of taking Whitney into the studio and put down some tracks including this one.
Great great great song by Whitney!!! And I've always loved how this song was referenced in Salt & Pepa's song (featuring En Vogue), Whatta Man from 1994...in that song one of the girls is praising her man because he knows her name is not Susan (among other things). such awesome songs from another era that I wish would come back one day..
I remember me and my sister going back and forth on this song in my brothers' car when I was little, she would replace "Susan" with her high school friend (at the time) and I would correct her. LOL
This reminds me of the benefit concert she did for the troops around the time this song was out and I loved watching her dance with her male dancers when she performed this song. Love You Whitney. I have faith that you haven't lost all your talent.
lol i started to hear this song in my head yesterday out of the blue lol! i remembered it from 20 years ago wow! so im glad i found it again!!!!!!!!!!!
This Album followed WH's Bodyguard glory days. She was a full-on crack addict by this time and the aggressive abandon she displays in her RnB singing style on this cut, showcases a (probably) chemically enhanced confidence that even then, I sensed would eventually destroy WH's voice. WH should have recorded more songs over her career, like Mariah; because voices like this are the training grounds for millions of wannabe vocalists.. As a singer myself, WH was a priceless mentor.
This goes so well along with the new jackswing of that era also strongly followed by Michael Jackson and Mariah Carey on some of her early singles and in overall all the rnb generation of the first half of the 90s. This is one of my fav songs and totally forgotten when GH album was released in 200o.
My name is..Susan...really!Loved this song for obvious reasons! My b/f loves it when I busta move and start to sing this..LOve her voice much better...
One night not long agoI fell for you Too easy to let goShe was one from your past One of the fewYou said it didn't last Now Romeo you know I can't believe Your tongue would slip so easily I know you think I oughta let it be But get it right, next timeThat's the end of me
@imamagnetum Being A Vocal Artist Myself As Well As A Once-"Victim" Of Child Sexual Abuse I Can DEFINITELY See And Sense This Being The Case Of Whitney Houston As Was With Phyllis Hyman. Yet, As A "Charismatic" Christian, I Do NOT Want Diagnose OR "Speak This Into Existence" Without ACTUALLY Knowing This.
There is not a WH song that I don't like. RIP to QOP!!
