  • why draw it with an 18 then inject with 21? the pharmacy just gave me a 22 1/2. Also, what is a "trans man" ???

  • I agree with the webcomic that linked here. Why can't testosterone come in gummi candies like vitamins?

  • @ilnaras its all about absorbtion. when a pill passes through the liver it may damage it and also it wont be absorbed 100% .. thats why you inject it.

  • Why is it so importened to replacing the needle after filling it?

  • @fixedworld the needle can get blunt when it pierces the plastic cap while filling the needle with oil.. you may not notice it but it makes a whole lot of difference. pain wise..

  • Injecting in the butt is what most trans men like, lmfao

  • damn, they say to use 21 gauge, that's crazy. 21's are way to big for comfort.

  • can anyone help me im a genetic guy 24 CANNOT grow facial hair and its really bringing me down i was lookin at buying test tablets online andriol testocaps has anyone any info on their effectiveness? or where i can get testosterone cant go the doctor route cos they say i have no deficincy in T.

  • what did i just watch...

  • Thanks for taking the time to do something taboo like injections =) i eventhough ima vitaminstoresupplement-guy only , I thak you for instructing my gym friends haha !

  • wow that was boring .

  • QUESTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When you put say 1ml of air in the vial and then draw back 1ml of testosterone.

The next time you want to draw again from the vial do you put 1ml of air in it again? or since it already has air.. just poke it straight in

  • fucking MEATHEADS!

  • i would also like to add gauze to the list of supplies. sometimes it leaks after i pull out (heehee), and it helps to apply pressure with gauze until the leaking/bleeding stops.

  • Why are cissgender people all over this video? get off and leave us alone!

  • Also, i hate to say it but why does this video need to objectify Females? And in particular Female Nurses? The stupid fetish nurse outfit that the girl is wearing is insulting and it's gross that you used it in the video. Sounds like good ole' misogyny to me. Does a female nurse have to wear an outfit that is usually worn by rent-girls working in the bdsm dungeons? Grow up, not all men are T-filled machos and women are skanks in teeny outfits.

  • People like you, xTwoOfHeartsx, don't know a crap about gender, it seems like. You're pushing your gender binary agenda and free ride to T for "FTMs"--how about ANDROGYNOUS people who want to improve their body? No T for them, according to ones like you who PUSH STUPID GENDER BINARY ONTO EVERYONE TRYING TO RESTRICT ACCESS TO TESTOSTERONE. Gender binary (M-F) is YESTERDAY, and must be Done Away With. Ones who push this issue are no better than right wing transphobes.

  • DON'T TOUCH THE INJECTION SITE AFTER CLEANSING IT WITH ALCOHOL, DEFEATS THE PURPOSE.

  • Do it your self is a great training exercise for people who need to inject themselves. My doctor showed me, but this is my first time and I wanted to make sure I remember everything. The video was right on target. I am taking prescription testosterone because my natural T was extremely low do to medical reasons. I just now did my first shot and was successful.

  • I recently went back to shots after being on Testogel for some time. This video was very helpful, but I'm still having some issues. I often hit a nerve (and my whole thigh twitches) 2 or 3 times when trying to inject in my thigh and don't manage to inject without hitting a nerve until the 4th time or so. This leaves me with lots of small injection marks and makes it painful to inject that 4th time.

Do I just have extra nervy legs or am I doing something very wrong?

  • this video helped me soooo much when i start doing my own shots - which was starting with the second one...hahaha. thanks to the folks who made this. seriously, i can't thank ya'll enough. i used to put this one, and about 5 mins in, i'd calm down enough to be able to inject. :) i'm in 2 years now, so i'm all good, but those first few months were crucial.

  • thanks a bunch, very informative....winstrol here i come

  • I don't know what it is with me but I do my injections slowly. ^.^; It only hurts for a few seconds though. Didn't know putting pressure on the area can help though, I will try that next time!

  • @MagePathfinder me too, it hurts though...next time im gonna do it fast!

  • Only thing I dislike about the video is that the whole first part just makes an injection sound like the most dangerous painful thing.

People just need to realize it is a little prick for a couple of seconds, it does not hurt unless you do it wrong, so just do it correctly and it's less painful than a pinch.

  • That's good, filmmaking-wise.

Do you have a transcript for this?

Also, I love the drag. Ha.

  • Yes, In sweden this hormone therapy is available.

Its written in this well researched paper here in the first opening paragraphs. Sweden also allows a rebate on flaccid penises for FTMs.

    In Norway,

A Medical Board formed a gender unit to specialise in this area which also agrees on hormonal therapy

As does the American Psychiatric Association and the Australian and New Zealand Journal of Psychiatry. This is just to name a few relevant ones

Perhaps you should open your mind and a book or two.

  • I fail to see how Ritalin would improve Gender Dysphoria. Your poor knowledge on the subject is showing.

Dont you think if International Medical boards all agree that hormone therapy is the best medical treatment for this disorder, that maybe.. just MAYBE they might know more about this than you?

  • huh? millions of men suffer with hypogonadism/low testosterone. It ruins a man's quality of life, as well as increasing his mortality risk. It's health care, asshat.

  • No, men doing it for bodybuilding isnt exactly natural. That would be cheating (in my books anyhow) and definately isnt good for you.

Consider this - Testosterone improves the mental stability of transexuals as there is no other 'cure'.

Perhaps that fits your way of thinking better...

  • with an 18g needle you woudnt have ta heat up the vial.. I know I know details details ;)

  • Im in this video - im the kid doing the self-injection in the arse. with the syringe in my mouth!!

Im thankful my friend asked me to be part of this video.

  • Im in this video.

im the kid with the hat!!

  • d1deej: I guess it's easy for you acting "bad ass" behind your bloody computer, but in real life I bet you're just a tiny little piece of shit! As I've already said, if you ever visit Norway, I can assure you're in big trouble, MATE! People like you disgust me! You're nothing but an ignorant fucker :)

  • d1deej: I just saw your vid and cant stop laughing! If you ever visit Norway I can assure you you'll not going back to fucking Australia, not after I'm done with you.I'm not afraid of people like you,the only thing you can fucking manage to do is writing shitty comments on YT!you're like the biggest looser there IS!Get my point,"EHH"?you australian pussy!

  • d1deej: We're not fags, you fucking ignorant piece of shit. You gotta get it from the streets? Haha. Poor little faggy! You dont even need it you fucking, idiot.

  • Haha

  • mine is stole from a vet

  • kind of a gay movie, but, very informational! ;)

  • no it just creates a vaccum

  • Doesn't pulling back the plunger on the syringe create air...wich should not be in there in the first place?

  • pulling up on the plunger is to test if you are in a vein. If you are, then it will come up easily and you will see blood in the syringe. If you are in the muscle (where you want to be) then there will be nothing there to draw up and it will just make a bit of a vacuum... letting you know that it is ok to inject there.

  • So if you see blood, should you pull out?

  • yes, pull out the syringe and try another spot (be sure to check there too). dont worry about trying to get the blood out of the syringe, just inject it with the hormones (I know someone who tossed several weeks worth of hormones because they thought they could not inject it if there was blood in it).

  • Thanks heaps for this video.

  • Correction: Men with the wrong bodies can get testosterone from their doctors.

Men with the right bodies, who produce a substantial amount of testosterone on their own, don't get it from their doctors, because they don't need it. Body building is optional, not a necessity.

  • test produces great cosmetic results 4 both of us..im not saying u should'nt get prescriptions(happy 4 you) but we should too.

    peace

  • why should you too? if your body produces what it needs on its own, why do you need more then that?

if your body makes less then what it needs, then you should speak to an endocrinologist.

  • @xTwoOfHeartsx Not a necessity?? I think you shouldn't be telling other people how to live their lives (unless you want them to tell you how to live yours).

Bio-male body dismorphic feelings can be as strong as gender identity disorder. Everyone should have free access to testosterone prescriptions and be monitored by a physician rather than push people into illegal zone where they go ahead and harm themselves not knowing their health status.

  • You produce testosterone naturally. We don't.

We take it for a medical problem.

Last time I checked, not having big enough muscles wasn't a medical problem.. and steroids can cause alot of problems and are extremely addicting. They're a narcotic.

    That's why they're controlled.

  • I'm actually fully aware that we produce testosterone. But we are men, and for men, we don't produce enough testosterone.

Yes, we are men. I'm sorry that your brain is too narrow to comprehend that there is such a thing as being born with a birth defect in which the brain and body developed opposite genders.. but it's a reality. We need testosterone to correct our bodies to match our minds. It's not about having a cock. It's about having the right body.

  • @xTwoOfHeartsx I bet you're around 20 years old? When you get older you will learn about feelings of a bio-male who loses his testosterone levels with age, and the horror than can accompany that. You have a LOT to learn. Stop hating on athletes who want to use steroids, and be concerned without your own ROID use. Btw a lot of FTMs ABUSE T by masculinizing themselves WAY over what low-T or average biomale is, way over just being passable. May be some1 should look into that? Cuz thats OPTIONAL.

  • @xTwoOfHeartsx im sorry, people have the right to do what they want, and be with who they want. And have equal rights to do so, but dont call someone narrow minded, because in the same sense you are too, theres just as much evidence to prove its societal pressures and choices to be gay, or feel like your in the wrong body, then there is to say its just genetic or a birth defect and thats the end of story. thats foolish. I dont believe in gay marriage or these surgeories, but its not me

  • @xTwoOfHeartsx nor does it really affect me, so i have nothing personally against what you do. But i just object to the marriage because its a bond under god, and the bible says no, but if you so choose to want to be with the same sex, who am i to say no. do as you please, this is america right, i think a civil union is fine so that you get all the same rights and can make the same choices for each other that regular married people can. call me what you want idc

  • what's the medical problem? You'd be perfectly healthy without it

  • Read the comment I posted above.

  • 'Perfectly healthy' in mind or body?

  • The medical name for being trans is gender dysphoria.

  • I kinda like nurse vivian

  • Hahaha me too.. she can inject me anytime!

  • ok, I know that sex-ed in schools is really lacking... but you should be aware the women have estrogen... men have testosterone.

    the more you know :)

  • trust me I know. i have been bodybuilding for years and have researched and read countless things. men and women have both estrogen and testosterone, women just don't have as much test. When a man's estrogen levels get too high this is when he develops gynecomastia aka bitch tits.

  • You obviously have no idea what this video is for.

  • gah, sorry, seems youTube deleted the person I replied to.. they were confused between transmen and transwomen (they thought that MTF's took T to be more manly).

  • OHH, okay.. that makes alot more sense.. lol

And what's with this Makaveli guy who also seems to have no clue what this video is for? Why does he even bother to keep commenting? My GOD. I'm SO tired of roid monkeys like him who think they are more entitled to testosterone than transguys.. and don't understand for the life of them that we take it for a medical problem.. NOT just so we can gain big muscles and shit. We're dudes who don't produce T on our own.. so we get a prescription & take it.

  • well as I said above, if a 'roid junkie wants to get T easy, all they need to do is remove their ability to make it naturally... but somehow I doubt many of them will be willing to remove their nuts just to get bigger biceps :)

  • in the uk, if i went to my doctors would he be able to give me needles as i have no idea were to get them from? please help

  • search for medisave on google mate

  • I love this site they just have everything for everyone...lol...a lot of this happened m first shot...cuz i surely did sit here for like 5 hours just staring at the needle...

  • Its bill.Kill bill.

  • oh, it's easy for you to get T... cut your balls off. You are comparing a healthy man taking T to a man who can not produce any on his own taking it to stay healthy.

  • If you needed to inject with a 26g-30g needle can you still withdrawl and inject with the same needle or do you still have to change needles.

  • No, never use the same needle to draw and inject. There is the dulling of the tip that occurs when you pierce the rubber seal of the vial, and safe to say, you dont exactly want to inject with a dull needle.

  • i like to inject in my ass....lol

  • Why would we WANT to have babies? We're not supposed to have uteruses and ovaries and shit, anyways. Men don't, neither should we. So why would it be a problem if our reproductive organs suddenly stop working?

Testosterone does many more things than just shut down the reproductive system. Those reasons are WHY we take it.

  • What do you mean "not supposed to"? If you're born with it I'm sure that you're supposed to by nature. I don't really even care what people do with their lives though because it's their choice. I was just wondering because science classifies male/female by chromosomes and not physical appearance. And men generally have working reproductive parts they are just different from women, they are not shut down.

  • it just does not matter what science says about me and my body. i've never been to wal-mart and gotten "have a nice day, person with xx or xy chromosomes, which i cannot readily determine without a dna test". no, i get, "have a nice day, sir" because my body displays characteristics that are common for males to display. if it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, who cares if it's chromosomes say it should be a cat, it's a gotdang duck.

  • just wondering, but have you heard about the woman with male DNA? She lived as a woman, looked like a woman etc.. but if tested in a lab, her results came back male. Just wondering what you take on that would be.

  • My take on that is: If he/she has the Y chromosome with the sex-determining region Y (sry) gene than he/she would have testes despite looking like a female and therefore be classified as male. If she does not have a functioning sry gene then he/she would be a female by default. The X chromosome takes over by default which is why we are all females at one point in the womb, but the sry gene releases chemical gradients that alter the default programming. This is of course just a general overview.

  • what about those with XXY? XO? X_? or any of the about a dozen or so chromosomal intersex conditions?

you could be a perfectly healthy person, have totally functional genitals, you could even be totally fertile, and have non-XY/XX chromosomes, and you would never know it unless you got a DNA test.

have YOU had a DNA test? If your claim to man/womanhood is based on your DNA and you can't even tell us what yours is, why do you think you should be able to tell others what sex they really are?

  • You would know the difference. For example the XXY example you gave is called Klinefelter's syndrome. This syndrome is characterized by infertility, gynecomastia, hypogonadism, deficits in cognitive functioning, and even germ cell tumors. These are just a few of the symptoms and problems with X chromosomes do lead to extreme disfunction. The Y chromosome is where the sex determining region is (sry) and this is what decides sex, without this the person is female.

  • Do you know how much i have to pay to inject

    for the first time?

    Thank you

  • You have to be very careful with this kind of information. The "nurse" shows the upper front quadrant of the thigh. There are many more veins and nerves running through this area. You should inject into the side, a little to the right of what's being shown. Probably about where the line above her bruising is drawn.

  • I agree, this is a very SERIOUS topic for both ftms and steroid users(although the video was made by and for trans men). And that's why we wanted to make sure people were getting the right information. The full length video is used and highly acclaimed by trans folks and medical providers around the world.

  • The amazing and knowledgable nurse in the video is a practicing RN who, among other things, works with the trans communities on a daily basis and also supervised the writing of the medical aspect of the video. In addition it was previewed and approved by a team of medical providers before it was distributed.

  • either way i find this instructional video to be very unprefossional.

if youre gonna go stick yourself with hormones this information should be coming from a doctor or specialist...not a low budget youtube video of a "nurse" with a blue wig and a spencers nurse outfit.

this is information people take seriously...information that could endanger their wellbeing.

so before i "spew" pullshit i should mention this is a SERIOUS topic...and not something that should be taken lightly.

  • before spewing bullshit you should realize what's actually going on. this is for FTMs on hormone therapy. not just some meathead body builder trying to buff up.

  • The information is correct. The video is well done. The nurse... Ahh do you have her phone number? ;-) Well anyway I just wanted to "inject" my 2 cents that I value this how to video. One thing I do that might be of value. If the area you inject starts getting sore putting a piece of ice in the injection area numbs it down and makes it really pain free. *Not that injections are that big a deal...

  • Thank you so much!!!

    ~Jay

  • this is so random but i have the first the first guy is wearing lol

  • cool, i tried, it's works

  • great vid! thanks!

  • hate the way we (bodybuilders) are looked down at for using this stuff like dirty little smackheads. we are only using it to improve the size and shape of our bodies, we're not all hardened criminals stealing off folk. most (if not all) of us have jobs families and everything else in life. we just have a desire to be big and muscular' is that really such a terrible thing?

  • I don't look down on you. You are taking a risk which may result in your body producing less of its own testosterone and may lead to problems later. A safer way to go would be to use estro blockers which will tell your body that you need more testosterone. The body will then prooduce more LH and then more testosterone.

  • youll more than likely just produce more bound testosterone..which is wortless....the reason injecting test is so beneficial is it essentially all free testosterone..which is the effective muscle builder....also estrogen isn't the worst thing for your body, it helps with insulin and glycogen, helps with releasing your own gh. the water u retain from estrogen helps cushion the muscles...also alot of those prohormones and estrogen blockers, serms etc can be harmful on your body..more so then test

  • yea your rite dude when theres loads of drug takers at parties and shit who take crack and heroine and all sorts of shit and that makes them 'cool'

  • I agree with you.

  • Brilliant!

I just did my first shot with the help of a friend [who is a nurse as well] and this is exactly what he told me to do.

  • Well done. I didn't know the rolling the bottle trick to warm it up. I wanted to get a better idea on exactly where to inject into the thigh and this spelled it out. The nurse is very cute and liked the humor. And even for us non trans folks who need T to be male it is indeed a magic moment! Thanks for the good video.

  • Believe me, most transmen would do anything to have natural testosterone production instead of sticking it in all the time.

    I know I do.

  • makes it more risky doesn't it? if they had a system of monitoring and prescribing by professionals for the purpose of physical improvement i don't see the problem. the government still gets their money out of it and athletes get safe, and legit gear.

  • What's fucked up is all the hoops all Trans folks need to jump through if we want to physically transition. And before we get approved for hormones, if at all, a lot of us spend time pre-T being frustrated and disconnected from our bodies.

What's also fucked up is your use of 'transgender' as a noun.

  • This is pretty good...but isn't it a bad idea to touch the spot you're about to inject after you've already cleaned it with alcohol?

  • JAH JAH!!

  • help...

Where do y'all get your testosteron from??

  • Nobody is going to tell you. You'll have to find it on your own. When a person posts a source, you run the risk of the website and the lab being shut down by the DEA. There was a thing last year called operation raw deal, and millions of underground labs were raided and shut down. My advice is make friends with the biggest guy in your gym and ask him to hook you up with gear.

  • talk to your endocrinologist, he/she should be able to tell you where you can get your prescription filled.

  • fabulously informative and kitschy to boot. good job.

  • I'm an EMT and in medic school, and I have no problems with needles, giving IVs, IM shots, or anything to anyone else. But the second I try to give my self my IM T shot I just can't. I hold the needle over my thigh for like half and hour before I give up, get pissed, and punch my bathroom walls with my head.

  • i'm injecting myself for the first time today, and i've watched this video over and over. it really helps!

  • Awesome work, thanks very much for this.

And I liked the nurse just fine. ;)

  • This is fantastic. <3

  • that really good

  • The nurse is an awesome nurse. She has treated me on several occasions and is very professional. To suggest otherwise was never my comment. My only comment was on how the woman in the video is sexualized for the benefit of the men. It made me feel uncomfortable and with a power dynamic when I was watching it. Maybe I'm the only one it bothered.

  • I'm not sure you got the full gist of the points I was trying to make in my previous response. When you sexualize something/ create a sexist image, you have to strip that person/thing of it's worth and value like bikini clad girls holding footballs in an ad for a sports channel. Again, perhaps you should reread my previous response.

  • There is a big diffrernce between being sexy and being sexualized. And as someone who is obviously interested in femminist discourse you surely wouldn't want to pass judgement on a woman for what she has chosen to wear or how she has chosen to express herself, now would you?

  • Power Dynamic? Medical Providers and Trans People, I think the dynamic is pretty obvious nullifying your entire point. Should we have used a patronizing doctor instead(not that all docs are bad)? Considering the heirarchy/power dynamics of the medical profession I think it's pretty cool that we used a nurse instead.

  • Someone's giving you feedback on how your video effected them. Perhaps you should listen instead of being so defensive.

  • very great video :D

    I like it very much.

I have been self injecting T for months :)

    great nurse :)

  • Very awesome vid ^^ keep it up

  • Great video! Love the nurse!

  • Dude, well made video! Humorous, engaging, and clear. And it makes it so obvious to guys that if they're injecting their T for the first time and they're feeling anxious, they're only normal. Well done!

Now let's see one with a gay male nurse ;)

  • I can't believe how sexist this video is. Why is the female nurse all sexualized for the benefit of the men? This video is pretty offensive to trans women who need to self-inject, don't you think?

  • PART 1

First off, the video was soley designed and written for trans masculine folks who inject testosterone. In our experience working in health care, very very few trans women at our centre were injecting hormones. For the few that do, they have found the information provided to be very useful.

  • Second, we thought long and hard about the nurse in the video, she is an actual RN who, in addition to being an amazingly knowledgable and open health care provider, has taught many trans folks to inject hormones. Nurse Vivian is an empowered chracter who is portrayed as a knowledgable and caring health care provider. And how brave is it that she often demonstrates where and how to inject inter muscularly by giving hersef a salene injection, pretty freakin' dedicated.

  • How often is a medical provider portrayed as empowering clients with the information they need to take some of their own health care into their own hands. How often is a health teaching video more than a patronizing, didactic, talking head. Our communities have been pathologized and controled by the medical and psychiatric monoliths for far too long.

  • And lastly, since when does being sexy make you stupid? In my experience there has always been huge support from high femmes for the trans communites. Are you suggesting that a portraying a woman as strong, knowledgable and caring is sexist because she is sexy? The nurse in the video chose her own outfit. We also had a pair of tranny fags dressed up as sailors, that was hot too, why not comment on that. And Did I miss something? Since when did femininity become a crime?

  • I dont think the video is sexist.

  • Great job. Need more film makers like you.

    Rock on.
