  • His stats may not be great, but I still (much to the disagreement of a lot of my mates) believe Michael Vaughan is one of the best cricketers this country has ever produced. His captaincy was brilliant and let's not even mention his cover drive - superb!

  • the run out at 1.48 is class

  • Great song, great player. One of my favourite cricketers.

  • Vaughni resembles Matthew Bellamy (MUSE),

  • Micheal Vaughan has always been my fav batsman as afar as i know cricket

.He lift ashes in 2005 which was a tough challenge but he did with few englishmen. And it is always good to watch when we see any match of his time.

more i want to tell every one since for the 1st day of using computer my all Passswords are micheal vaughan.

  • My favourite batsmen, he was beautiful when he got going, ( I know there were plenty of others). But still MY favourite.

  • Whats The Song Called ?

  • @dcfc09peat The Libertines - Don't Look Back Into The Sun

  • has he retired

  • Along with Fleming, Vaughan was one of the best captains of the modern era. Not simply that but, as others have said, when on song his batting was utterly sublime, a joy to watch. A shame his career tailed-off the way it did. I remember being on holiday in Scotland when the news of his retirement from test cricket was announced, we held a Michael Vaughan Beach Cricket Testimonial Match that very day on the beaches at Sanna Bay. The game was drawn due to the substandard conditions of the wicket.

  • On form Michael Vaughan was one of the most graceful and elegant batsmen to watch. Like a right-handed David Gower circa 1985.

  • great great captain nd great player

  • great player, great captain, great song

  • Sadly, Vaughie never got going in the ODIs.

  • guess wat my name is mathew vaughan

  • Yeah thanks

  • song name??

  • @we1are1superman libertines, don't look back into the sun

  • Yes, Australia have better cricketers - hardly surprising when you can only play cricket in England 5 months of the year. But England have Newton, Darwin, Shakespeare and Churchill, Australia Dame Edna Everage!

  • 5? You forget about the bad weather :P

  • As a cricketer he was average. Ordinary in the field, apart from one series he had a modest record with the bat.

As captain he won the Ashes, sure, but one swallow doesn't make a career. After that he vanished, to retire in tears after losing to South Africa.

Before trying to plot the downfall of his coach.

Captainicy is over-rated, hearing people trying to make Vaughan out as a genius is really stretching it a bit.

How many cricket world cups has Englerland won?

    Answer: Fark all.

  • please, as captain he holds more tests wins for england than any other captain in the countries history. holds the record for most consecutive wins for an english captain as well as the first man to lead england to victories in the west indies and south africa since the 60's.

this is the same bullshit that gets trotted out about flintoff, 'lulz what did he do apart from the ashes'. ignorance.

  • 'as captain he won the ashes'

leading up to the ashes england were unbeaten for a year of tests with him in charge

  • As my grand father used to say, Hell is a place where Bradman is English.

Reading these comments about Vauhgan being a 'genius' makes me understand what my grand-father was on about.

  • Michael Vaughan wasn't a great batsmen, fact is he lived off one series. As a captain he had one decent series, but once expectation came on to the team to perform, her failed.

Its one thing being the underdog, its another to do it when your expected to win. Vaughan failed in that regard.

It says much for the ordinary cricketers that England has produced that they try and make average cricketers, which Vaughan was, out to be some type of god.

At the end of the day he was a front-runner.

  • I really love it when someone like Mashteround gets their pants pulled down by people on here who have forgotten more than what he knows!!!!

  • love this video

  • Ricky Ponting, there is a cricketer and a captain!

  • .....who has lost the Ashes twice.

  • This guy is shit! there is nothing good about this messy shitfaced cunt. he couldn't even score a 100 in any ODI's ever and he opened, and he averaged 41 with the bat in tests? WTF, collingwood averages 44 and he is worse than strauss, and watching vaughn acumulate runs like a fat uselss seal dieing in the desert, so fucking slow and boring

  • Yeah you're so right! He's so shit he became the best batsman in the world in 2003... Arsehole.

  • vaughan is about as graceful and elegant a batsman as there has been in the past decade. i pity a poor clueless fool like yourself not being able to enjoy watching him bat. there is more to this game than stats you deluded cretin. unless of course you believe that matthew hayden is on a par with viv richards.

ponting isn't half the captain vaughan was.

  • Ever heard of Mark Waugh, or Damien Martyn, VVS Laxman, etc.

Vaughan wasn't graceful, i associate him with having his stumps splayed in all directions more times then not.

  • Ponting half the captain Vaughn was???? 3 world cups in a row, record ODI's won in a row, record tests won in a row, 150 in a world cup final, average 55 plus, youngest batsman to score 100 in a world cup game, captained Australia against a world team and smashed them in ODI's and test, nearly 40 man of the match trophies, over 11,000 runs, 38 hundreds, and hes is still F@CKING PLAYING AND THE CAPTAIN.

  • captaincy is an easy game when your answer to everything is 'throw the ball to mcgrath/warne'.

  • evidently you never watched him bat in 2003/04.

  • Strauss is doing him proud.

  • Vaughan; a great batsman and then a great captain unfortunately he couldn't do both at the same time, we watched the batsman that prevented england getting humiliated in '02 in Aus deteriorate as a batsman after he took the reigns from Hussain (the bastard that run out Strauss to stop him getting centuries in both innings of his debut)

  • His cover drives were so amazing

    Cricket will miss him.

He was unfortunate to play according to his callibure

  • Great player, great captain. Probably made the right decision to call it a day, but will be remembered with affection and respect.

  • one of my fav: english cricketers

  • excellent captain & batsman - he will be missed by cricket fans

  • Well done Frankie. and all the best for the future! xx

  • i jst wish he was playin this year my team would be strauss cook vaughan pietersen bopara flintoff prior broad swann anderson onions gutted vaughan aint there!!!!
  • have a look at 2:08

  • What a great video, batsman and skipp. Can't belive there are numpties on here who are slagging him off, YOU SHOULD ALL GO BACK TO YOUR BASEBALL cos you know nothing about batting. Vaughan = legend!

  • shit batsman great captain

  • nearly 6000 runas at an average of over 40. Once ranked the number one batsman in the world and surely many cram over the cover drive. yes he was a shit batsman wasn't he (just for you the last bit was sarcasm)

  • note i spelt CREAM wrong!

  • he got one big total in the ashes series....thats y he retired....cos he was shit

  • Note i think you will find Michael Vaughan hit 4 centuries against Australia in 10 test matches. Certainly better than all of the England team at this moment in time. Brilliant batsman in his prime, greatest England captain if you look at the stats but a crap fielder!

  • Yep and 3 of those centuries were 150+.

Vaughan probably should've converted his 4 huge centuries into doubles (the 197 & 195 against India and the 177 & 183 against Australia).

He actually looked set for a double in the 05 Ashes but got out when looking completely in control (pretty much typical Vaughan unfortunately).

Aesthetically he was 1 of the best of his era and I don't know of many batsmen in history who played the cover drive and pull shot as well as Vaughan did.

    Maybe a handful?

  • oh and he hasn't retired. Get your facts right if you are going to comment on something. Clearly you don't know jack sh*t.

  • His stats don't reflect how great a batsman he was. However, his stats of the 2002/03 Ashes IN Australia against McGrath, Warne & Gillespie-

    5 Tests (10 Inn), 63.30 Avg, 3 cents, best of 183 (probably should've got a double century).

The true test of a batsman is how he does against the best bowlers. I can't remember many who have made batting look as easy against those 3 bowlers (at peak btw) as Vaughan did in 02/03.

I do think he got out too often after making a great start though.

  • Michael Vaughan should be made a sir

  • Brilliant video!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Brilliant Vid! - Brilliant Player & Captain.

Im sure many will agree that he should come back for the ashes this year.

  • the song is dont look back into the sun by the libertines

  • and, coincidentally, the title of his autobiography was called 'a year in the sun'

  • i've been living in Canada since 2001 and havnt been able to follow cricket. I do remember the name Michael Vaughan very clearly, can plz somebody tell me what happened to the fella?

  • he got shot

  • I din't think he has even been shot ;)

  • does any1 know the name of the song

  • Missed but never forgotten.

  • Sorely missed. I hope he gets introduced into the May test matches to see if he has found some form and can then make the Ashes. I think his leadership set the tone for the 2005 Ashes. Seeing him lift the urn makes my hairs stand on end. I don't care if it takes us another 10 years to win it back, seeing England beat a great Australian team showed we can do it. If the selectors and committee men would remove their heads from their arses then it shows we have the talent and spirit to be great.

  • perfect, elegant and a uprooted off stump, best to watch, u just want him to stay in and recently he really hasnt.

  • wen hes on form in my eyes 1 of the best batters to watch ..gr8 video m8

  • Fantastic vid, most elegant player I've ever seen and the finest England Captain.

  • Elegant player, fearless leader and an England legend. I was lucky enough to get my picture taken with him when i went to scarborough to watch yorkshire play this year

  • What a wonderful player. Could look awful early on in his innings, but when he got going, made batting look so easy.

  • Michael Vaughan is undoubtedly my favourite player

mind you i'am an aussie, but even we recognise class when we see it

can't wait to see him back in International cricket

  • Mate ....... :-( I couldn't agree with you more. You're Aussie, i'm West Indian and we both agree on the class of a classic player. I totally love this guy. Bu chance you got any DVD's of him making a century. I've been looking all over. i'll buy them from you.

  • The man is a true legend. Can't wait to see his next innings for England. Up the OWLS.

  • He had a wonderful reign as captain.

  • Great Video shame about the crap music

  • That is alot better than mine, ive jsut got pictures thoughout his career, from the first ball to hopefully not his last, great vid for a great player, miss his cover drive already

He already has 3 tribute vids, and he deserves them

  • the best english cricket captain and most successful

  • Great video mate, i totally agree with cricketforever, best english player of the drive and pull in recent times.

  • you wont see the cover drive and the pull played any better. awesome stuff!

  • Great video, and thanks for making it to a great player, cheers evertonfan

  • GreatVideo He is A Legend

  • Great video. Such a shame he's retired as captain.
