Small note: Be sure to tell people to backup their data before doing this. I just lost a lot of pictures of my kids, some poems, the SMS text conversation I had going with my wife for the past three months and a list of New Years resolutions. My bad for being lo tech, I guess. Also, you might want to mention that if itunes asks you to upgrade the software after this process is over, you should say no.
