I have the Tissot 1853 T-Touch. It is extremely accurate. It gains about 1 second per month! I've checked it several times against the Naval Time Standard.
Unfortunately, the touch functions have almost completely failed. Very disappointing.
@milobejot I checked it just now to see specifically which functions still work. Now, only the THERMO function responds to touch. All the other touch functions are dead (Meteo, Altimeter,Chrono, Compass and Alarm). The only areas that respond to touch are the center and the 10 o'clock position. The problem was no better when a new battery was installed.
The Swiss apparently never learned their lesson of 30-40 years ago. Why do they keep ignoring/downplaying the role of quartz technology in the realm of horology?
I would be all over this Tissot if it had a solar movement and radio controlled atomic radio sync. Cutting edge quartz technology is an area where the Japanese are killing and eating the Swiss for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Name one Swiss quartz movement capable of syncing to an atomic radio signal. There are none.
@FIyingPengwin deppending on what do you want, well i think, both of them are sport looking, but the tissot can also be a elegant...sort of watch. So I think maybe, if you are only going to use it for what its made, the casio it´s a better option, but if maybe you would like to go out with it, the tissot is a better option.
does this have a light for night time use?
thnx.

what do you think is more useful. Tissot T-touch or the G-shock MTG1500-1A? i am stuck between the two at the moment.

@FIyingPengwin Casio, by a large margin. The Tissot is a reliable beater, but its not loaded with that many features really.

It's odd that they're so popular because I think they're super ugly. Dial, bracelet, hour/minute hands, everything about it is just gross.

How would you say the T-Touch would compare with the Suunto?
mogando25 1 year ago
@mogando25 Suunto is much more sophisticated for features.
