Two questions:

Why are they so scared of the water? Seems like they could just blast through it in those vehicles.

How in the world do they know which turn to take. I'm pretty sure that I'd be lost at the second intersection.

@Adnine235 they pre-run the course before the race, normally more than 4 times so the day of the race theres no need to make any decision all comes naturally, and it is a long race, a little amount of water where it shouldn't be would cost you the race, and probably more than a million dollars

@Adnine235 At high speeds it becomes difficult do differentiate between actual puddles or pot holes filled with water! Might as just avoid it all anyway; save yourself the trouble in the long run!

@die996 dakar rally car's don't have the wheel travel of a trophy truck, the touareg's aren't the only dakar rally cars that tried to race the baja and couldn't reach to the end.

dakar rally cars have about 300hp and a trophy truck has 850+hp and with a 3 speed automatic transmission reach more than 140mph this kind of roads

i think theres no comparison between dakar and the baja 1000 jaja

@die996- Mark Miller and Giniel de Villers (spelling) raced the VW Tourags at Baja, and they rac strong, but didn't have what it takes to run of front with these trucks. Dakar vehicles would have a tough time going over 4 foot whoops at over 100mph.

It seems like you should be able to take those slow to medium corners much faster... How much do those things weigh? What shocks and springs do you use? Do you even have a roll bar? Hmmmm...

Steady throttle control, great anticipation, and just a bit "reserved" - as it should be; we just got one hour of this - and there'd be another 19hrs to go! There's darkness; imagine 12 hrs in to the race and still flyin' by a desert all lit up in front of you 80 - 100 mph!!! Absolutely no spectators for miles at a time...

This TT really hooks up! One thing is for sure; Andy doesn't waste time or traction by over-revving it... But that TT reeeeaalllyyy takes OFF!!!!!!!!

What a lovely vid I hope that you will have more of the rest of the course. I am also suprised at how much engine noise that your cam picked up. My son asked a question as to how much fuel you carried and what is the engine size in your truck.
