  • You forgot one: playing the wrong tubes in the breath ritual room results in the character being sucked into the breathing apparatus.

Also, I've played this game numerous times, but I've never seen the part at 2:05. What brings that on?

  • @Crymson1 That's what happens when you get the Staff of Erana when playing as a wizard.

  • Those "huge goon guards" were no match for the DEMONS fought in the previous game. The hero should have had a chance to fight and KILL them.

  • 7:02

I love how the icon is of the Hero cannon balling. It just screams "you know how this is going to end" at the player.

  • you forgot 1 death.. it's 'Rise, Shine and Die'.

at night, you go into the burgomeister's office and keep sleeping for 60 minutes then YOU DIE!!!!!!

  • 0:30 even the game basicly says "your an idiot" when you do a death that obvious.

  • It seems like there are a lot less instant deaths here and a lot more ways to die that can be avoided just by being strong enough in this game than in previous games

  • "That'll TEETH you a lesson"!!

  • booooooooooooooooo!

  • For such a jokey game, I found that castle really creepy as a kid.

  • "Maybe that wasn't the right thing to do."

I like how it treats the end of the world as a mere aside. A bit like the "you failed" death at the end of Waxworks.

  • By the way, there's a patch you can download for the game that eliminates the two fatal game errors, almost 100% of the time (That would be error #47 and #52). 52 is eliminated 100% of the time, 47 sometimes crops up still, but it gets rectified by turning detail all the way down and speed all the way up when you're on the screen it crops up on.

  • Sorry for being stupid about this stuff, but what exacaly Are error's 47 and 52? What happenes when you get them, and how do you make them happen?

  • Error 52 is the one you get in the swamp with the Chernovys I think, and 47 is the one you get on the sliding slope.

  • Right... And I'm making a wild guess when I say that they basicaly makes the game crash?

  • Yup, they crash the game, which is why I originally described them as "fatal game errors".

  • @TyrannisUmbra

I have been racking my brain and losing patience with that awful Error 47 for the longest time. I saw your post, tried taking down the detail and bringing up the speed and lo and behold, I made it past that slippery slope! Thanks so much! :)

  • Wow, either DOSBox really is running this game too fast at times, or Sierra genuinely chose to excise a whole bunch of extra animations for many of the deaths in this game.

Also, what were you supposed to do during that wallflower scene?

  • Yeah, it's a timer issue that speeds up the death animations.

  • Grab the tendrils.

  • I thought Ad Avis was dead.

  • He is, but he's a vampire now.

  • Ad Avis as a vampire? FFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-

  • wow, the mythos of vampires has been badly butchered over the years. The canon mythos says that putting a stake through a vampire's heart only paralyzes it. To kill it permanently, you must behead it, burn the remains, and scatter the ashes over running water; however, if an expert vampire slayer manages to put a stake through a vampire's heart, it is heavily implied that the vampire is as good as dead.

  • Man... those writers should be PUNished...

  • I NEED THIS GAME!!!!! HOW DO I Get IT!?!!? thank you

  • OH NO! THEY BLEW UP THE SIERRA LOGO!

  • Hey Mr. Whitman, can you try going back into the Castle Borgov right after you save Tanya and bring her home to her parents? Like maybe after it's made public that Katrina & Ad Avis found that she's gone?

  • Yes, you can go back in. No, it doesn't yield any special results.

  • so are thier enough missed deaths to make a update for?

p.s have you looked at the death i suggested?

  • Yes, I'll be making an update soon. And yes, if I find it, I'll put in the death you suggested.

  • I never knew Katrina's curse actually did anything. When are the messages triggered? What do they say, specifically?

  • The messages are triggered after the third day around sunset. You'll lose health up to a certain point (you'll never actually die from it) and the game will say that the Geas is really starting to hurt. And you'd better find the rituals soon.

Later, it'll say that you're having trouble breathing and that hyou can hardly move and that you MUST find the rituals.

I may post up the full messages some time later.

  • There's one you missed waaay back at the beginning. If you go to the Pit Horror's room and walk too close to the edge of the cliff, it pulls you down and kills you.

By the way...would you consider beating the game to be a "death"? I mean, the death screen shows up with the same gloomy music, even though the picture is of your victory pose and the text is congratulating you.

  • WHat I consider to be a "Death" is when the Hero either dies or gets into a situation that he cannot complete the game in so he gets a death message. I don't count the victory scene only because that's not in any way shape or form a death and most players would see that for themselves.

  • Heh, good point...I did think it was pretty funny though.

  • another death you missed (man thiers a lot of death in that game) blow the wrong note 3 times in the breath altar . as in blow the main one 3 times should do it...

    its rocks :D

  • Missed Death: Blow into the upper left or right holes in the Air chamber. The holes will have you for dinner!

  • I guess I forgot to put that one in. Strange, it used to get me all the time. Thanks, I'll have to update one of these videos.

  • I believe you missed the death where you wait too long after Katrina curses you to find the rituals.

  • I tried it. It's not a death. You get a whole bunch of annoying messages claiming that you're suffering but you don't die.

Katrina doesn't actually want to KILL the Hero, he wouldn't be able to finish his task if she did, she just wants him to suffer if he fails.

  • Oh, I see.

    Shows what I know

  • It's still a game over.

  • No it isn't. You can keep it up for as long as you want. You'll just get a bunch of reminders but the game won't end because of it.
