  • no sound...

  • i keep turning my sound up but nothing's coming out...this is getting annoying. ;] But in all seriousness it's frickin incredible how much technology has progressed

  • To think this is how a young Arnold Swarzenegger got his start getting clubbed over the head

  • tombstone brought me here :3

  • shit ronnie biggs has let himself go.

  • Filmed in New Jersey the movie capital

  • why dont you have the piano song in it it is in the movie

  • they dont even need a set. they just need to go to montana back then. lol. 107 years.

  • I have been waiting 109 years for this to be released on Blue Ray.

  • @UofLCardFan08 It's Blu-Ray -.- :P

  • @UofLCardFan08 you can now buy it in high definition 3d

  • Wasn't there a james bond gunbarrel influence?

  • weres the sound lol jk

  • Wow, a tough-talking Norwegian!

  • you a racist? what does norwegian has to do with it?

  • Yeah, we all kid the French, about how snooty they are and all. But just think about it. They are a country with so many firsts: aviation, medicine, science, photography, even cartoons and special effects. And what a cuture! Classic painting, sculture, music, film , clothing, and FOOD! Yet, no one has the right to be rude and arrogant. Including us.

  • thank you sooo much for putting this on here! you saved me...i have to write a response paper to this film, and i couldn't really remember it from the one time we saw it in class, so thanks!

  • I have been wondering all my life why people rob and murder and all that other crap because they will get caught eventually.

  • Great movie! Thanks for posting.

  • When are they releasing this on DVD?

  • oh by the way, the french "lumiere brothers" invented the cinematograph first. It has the capability to project motion pictures on a screen. So i would disagree that thomas edison was the pioneer to motion pictures. Thomas edison invented the kinetoscope which is not a film projecter. So we can only say that the lumiere brothers brought cinema to our world.

  • I love reading revisionist history. Every book and account give Edison as the inventor of what people would consider "Motion Photography" or the Kinetiscope. If folks learned their history from the internet, U.S. citizens would have not invented a single thing. Besides, the French have plenty of inventions to hang their baquettes on, such as French Fries and French Toast. Both awesome as well as tasty inventions. But I kid the French.

  • before anyone has to comment about this film, please take note that it was shot in the year 1903 where techology in movie making was still very new. Do not compare it with the films we watch nowadays.

  • @DJhozy i agree, they knew how to act back then, lol

  • This is amazing! How did they do that. It's like moving pictures. I am seeing another world. So this is what they call a "movie." I have never seen anything like it. I wish they made "movies" with sound and color, but I doubt that would ever happen. Wow, technology advances so fast!

  • The special effects in this movie are terrible.

  • actually, the special effects in this film are revolutionary. before 1903, no film had ever had hand-colored frames (something that is still used today). also, throwing the dummy off of the train was seen as a huge stunt and the audience actually feared for the actor. the effects may be terrible in today's standards, but dont be ignorant and say the special effects are terrible for those times

  • I was joking.

  • Edison ??? You should take a look back at your notebook!

  • edidison was the maker he was testing out his camerea look it up online the orgnial one!!! the first western edision made! evreyone knows that its all over western mueseums to

  • where is the music on all these

  • its a silent film

  • what a noob. this is a silent film.

  • why dont u all just shut up its a silent film no dur it was made in 1903 -.-

  • Wow, who copyrighted it to Edison. this was Edwin S. Porter's film. Thanks for posting it by the way, it's great :)

  • Porter worked for Edison who owned the Biograph Studios the biggest of its day.

  • edison invented the prototype of the "moving picture photograph" i think it was a mimeograph or something but this is a cool film, definitly a great part of american history

  • where's part 2?

  • Cool, Thanks
