i don't think this huy knows what he is talking about. Vaillant use a stainless steel heat exchange and Bosch use an aliminium heat exchange. Aliminium is a better at transfering heat, hence the reason why Bosch have used aliminium. we all know that water is softened with salt and that sodium is corrosive to aliminium. maybe that is completely the reason why you didnt get the guarentee.
I used to work for Worcester Heat Systems the newer style of boiler's will not work with saline or a salt based water softers because you will be changing the PH of the water content within within heating system thus potentially damaging the heat exchanger so no wonder worcester will not guarantee the appliance!
