@AdictedToInternet Their age for one. the Dc-9-40s that were originally Northwest birds were anywhere from 28 to 40 years old. Delta would still keep them around but they drink a bit too much fuel, which over shadows their low maintenance counts. They're like an ole Chevy Truck vrs a new one. It'll out live the new truck, perform just as good, way cheaper to fix but simply burns too much gas to be very cost effective.
Why is delta getting rid of these air crafts?

It is a DC-9-50. None of the -40s are painted in DL colors.
