For those who think he is a bad teacher (i.e. victotronics), he is not. He just can't speak english very well. At 0:34 in the film, he says correct and he is right. Ney is a difficult instrument. This is coming from someone who is beginning to learn ney. You have to make an air canal with your tongue and everything has to be positioned properly to make the first sound. If this was the woman's first attempt, that is amazing. You can here the ney is trying to make a sound. Just need more practice.

and this enstruman is NOT ''NEY''...this is like a block flute.NEY is a ver famous enstruman in turkey.and using very slowly...(sory i cant speak eng. fifty fifty))

It's very difficult if you don't have someone to show you the proper way. That was my problem. I had seen someone do it, loved the sound, and wanted to learn, but no one to teach me.
All neys are basically the same. There are different sizes, but this one sounds the best i think. The turkish ney is very long and the top has a wider hole making it harder to play.
The first and basic method is the arabian method where you pretend you're blowing into a pepsi bottle to get a sound out of it. forget the finger positioning until you get a sound.
the second and hardest method is the persian/iranian way where you place the left or right edge of the mouth of the ney between your top teeth and hope for a miracle. i suggest you google it or find someone who can teach you in person or you'll get very frustrated
basically there are three types of ney: turkish (played with both lips, and with the "hat" called baspare, nothing like this one in technique) the arab/egpytian (played like the turkish, but without baspare) and persian (the one on this video, played with interdental technique) which one is better is a matter of taste, i personally prefer the turkish, but its just my opinion, it would be like electric vs acoustic guitar, hope i helped

It's very difficult if you don't have someone to show you the proper way. That was my problem. I had seen someone do it, loved the sound, and wanted to learn, but no one to teach me.
