i hope still you there this coment from KidLovesMar is good but a question about it the oil is going to stay in the oil traps what if restrict the pasage of refrigerant what is going to happen what can be done?
i ave more to add (ran out of characters) you need to make sure if you cut the line set shorter that your revac the system and check the pressurres as i said this is very wrong its in a nother country with 220 ~ 240 volts and on smaller units you can plug them into an outlet
Whatever happen to putting the vaccum pump on it? I do this for a living as well, and they skip so many key points to a great installation. This unit will eventually not last long
get window unit place in window plug in turn on done :) This is a lot of wheel spinning when you could just do the above. Split systems are nice when you are centraly cooling, but this is kinda like putting together a toy one, like those tiny little steam engines that sit on a desk. Neat to look at but not much practical sense to put to work. I dont know, maybe im shallow, but I just dont see the use of it when there are easier ways to cool a room. I do see the educational value though
@docchocobo you are right that would be much easier, but the main advantage of a split unit AC is how quite it is compared with a window unit ...it's wisper quite.
@chadio5547 Sorry It took so long t respond back. I usually don't ever get replies in these things. As to the quietness of the system, I would be very interested in comparing that. Some older units are pretty noisy, but these newer ones we just got ar quite a bit quieter than anything we owned before. I also see that the aesthetics of the split unit are quite nicer than the window unit. I guess it all depends on what you can or are aloowed to do to the place you live.
this units are design with a proper charge for 15' length of tubing. this guy is doin it right coiling the copper behind the condenser if tey are as close together, cause if you cut the pipe you will need to adjust the charge and that takes some more knowledge to do that. their charge is critical on winter. the only thing he did wrong was not to pull a vacumm and the way he conect the flares with one wrench only. but besides that i will rate this guy an 8.
Fuck the vac just purge the system ! oh the enviroment? when they stop drilling for oil and burning coal;dumping shit in the sea! fuck I,ll stop purging a bit of r22 which has 20% CFC. Get your hand off it !
I agree ..#!&*% the vac!! but the video is a bit choppy between 5:50 to 6:00, precisely where essential air purging/evacuation procedure should be;...btw, heads up on leakage immediately after opening 2 way valve; other than that, the video is quite helpful, all the way thru'... thanx.my brand new LG Mini (purchased yesterday) is now working PERFECTLY thanks to this 7 minute video,..NO PROBLEMO! .it's 121+degrees outside, 77 degrees inside whew!!! Kudos from scorching hot Southern California/.
2 MO UPDATE: No issues to date whatsoever...just 100% D.I.Y. satisfaction...area cooled: a challenging 19' x 20'bedroom, or aprox. 380 sq. ft. floorsurface x 8ft high ceiling incl. 6'x4' window which receives significant daily bright HOT sunshine, stucco walls, PLUS a traditional Mission style California red clay (Sizzling HOT!) but beautiful tile roof...with my tiny 12,000BTU LG MiniSplit..muggy 123 degrees outside , a VERY comfortable 65 degrees inside, 24/7...BRRRRrrrrrrrr!!!!! I LUV It!
I've only installed mini-splits about a half dozen times. I've pulled a vacuum every time, is it necessary to pull a vacuum on mini-splits? I've noticed that others charge less for installation so I'm assuming they're not pulling a vacuum.
he probley got it up with help from the camra man. and you do not need to vaccum pump the lines. 5:43 thats what the 4 pumps are for. to flush the lines clean. i did simular with my 2 splits and they have been prefect for a few years now.
this is very usefull specially for beginners like me!!!can some one tell me how to remove the exterior fan of the split type ac with out wasting the freon or is it the refrigerant coz i will be removing it asap..basic steps will be very much appreciated!!!tnx so much for any one who can help!!!
in my opinion rounding them is much easier and better, and in the same time u will make what we call an oil trap, because sometimes if the outdoor unit will be higher then the indoor unit the oil will go throw the pipes to the indoor unit from the compressor, so when u round the pipes the oil will be trapped in there.
your supposed to shorten the lineset if it is too long and reduce the charge applicably. its bad for refrigerant flow to coil it up and stuff it behind the condensing unit. and before opening the service valves, the lineset should be evacuated so non condensible gasses do not enter the system once the pre-charged condensing unit is opened to the rest of the system
is really practice the way in which the purging pipe was very useful to me! thanks for your video, which also does not pull much refrigerant, otherwise much liquid is spilled by loosening the nuts!
No Nitrogen! No vac pump! No tray for the pipework! I rip stuff like this out all the time!!! This is NOT how I'ts done!

you could have cut the extra pipings not rounding them behind the o/d unit. for better perfecormance.

@KidLovesMar
You want the oil to return to the compressor, not be trapped in the pipework. No mini split system should have oil traps.

You should test for leaks before letting gas into the system
inbread 2 years ago 2
You do NOT tighten the nuts as much as possible, as if you over-tighten them you can strip it or damage the flare.
