The Chief has good narration, and it starts in Chicago, but CZ goes from Coast to Coast, the 1st part is ok, but the Capital Limited uses Superliners now anyways.
@dylanbobby1 Yep. This is their footage, but I liked it so much, and so many people like these two scenes, why not put them together for a great hornshow? :)
@dylanbobby1 Winter wonderland is okay, because of the all the steam action, and the music; which is good, but that's about it. I wish Gregg Scholl Studios would make more of the series though. Sadly they haven't :/
@trinityct Maybe a P42 will become the replica of Amtrak 819 for the 20th Anniversary of the Bayou Canot wreck. and the F40PH's from MBTA or VIA Rail will become Amtrak 262 and 312.
@danielis45 When I say glory days, I mean when Amtrak had great engines that didn't break down, weren't always late, and had a classic paint scheme. (phase three) They had these FANTASTIC General Motors F40PH engines which are shown behind the lead engine; General Electric P40 Genesis engine #818. Amtrak is America's railroad. Also called the National Passenger Railroad Corporation. It was formed in 1971 by the U.S. Congress and President Richard Nixon. :)
@danwat1234 The F40PH and the 1st Genesis type engine the P40/AMD103 were; and are both very reliable locomotives. The P40's younger cousin, the P42 was very reliable for its first 7-8 years of service, but by 2003, they were starting to breakdown, overheat, and in the most extreme cases, catch fire, like P42 #'s 112 and 70. They both were used so much they were worked to death. Literally! If Amtrak still had the F40PHs then there wouldn't be a shortage of power due to such P42 failures. :P :(
@USofMilitaryPower94 Strobe lights were a good safety measure to warn people that a train was approaching, but the engineers didn't like them on the Genesis engines for some reason. I don't know why....
@Chessiecat97 I saw it once, but I couldn't get video of it because I didn't have my camera. You're right, she still has a nice K5LA, but it's not the same one as the first one back in 1994. :)
@mmandmcb14 I unfortunately don't know the exact trailing F40PH numbers. I think the third one is #212. I don't know the 1st F40PH. Sorry :/ Hehe At first I thought that the P40's # was #819 which was involved in the Sunset Bayou crash in 1993.
@TommyBNSF Yup. I don't like the phase 5 paint scheme except on the engines, but even that isn't as cool as the old paint schemes. The best years for Amtrak I think was in 2002, when they had phase 3, 4, 5, (5a and 5b on engines) and the lava lamp paint scheme. 7 different paint schemes were out there at the time! Seven! Now, we have K5LA's that are being re-tuned due to people complaining about the noise. For crying out loud people! It's a horn! It's SUPPOSED to be loud! Sheesh. :P
@117amtrak The Lava Lamp Paint scheme was a paint scheme that lasted only 3 years on Amtrak. It consisted of turquoise blue, light green, patched over each other in oval-ish shapes. The Acela train-sets still have little patches of that paint scheme on the sides of the cars. Search "Amtrak lava lamp paint scheme" in google images, and you should get some decent pictures of what it looked like. :)
@Trainlover4ever2006 Yup. It is from America by Rail. These clips aren't necessarily mine, but I liked these clips so much, I decided to upload them. :)
Nice clips! 818's K5LA doesn't sound as good as it use to back in the 90's. I wish I was born earlier like maybe in the early 1980's so that I could have seen more things that aren't around anymore such as F40's, P40's in phase 3 with the strobe lights, ATSF, ect.
I have a feeling that 818 went on the Desert Wind, which explains why it was leading and after Salt Lake city two F40s were leading the train the rest of the way. This is America By Rail: The Heartland. It truly is a fantastic video.
@kmothersil yep i've seen all the america by rails, wish they had done more. The tie in with the tourist railroads was very good. The music was great and the trains were great. It would be nice to see more vids on youtube from the series.
@SuperStarRendon Well, I just saw that video of F40 #406 that you favorited. I have to say, it looks nice in the phase three paint scheme, but I've always preferred the phase 4 paint that it used to wear. I grew up in more of the phase 4 era. I saw some phase 3 sometimes, but it wasn't very easy to find. Favorite paint schemes of mine are phase 3 and 4. :)
The F40s were going to lead any way. After Salt Lake City that is. 818 most likely got put on the Desert Wind at Salt Lake City, which most likely explains why 818 was leading in the first place.
You might want to mention who this video was TAKEN by, otherwise it is as if you're taking credit for it.
