  • the eternity Dartagnan

  • I just can't get enough of Gene Kelly...his gorgeous smile, his endless charm and his fantastic personality. What a man. They just don't make them like this anymore. I'd give anything to go back in time and have the chance to meet him, I truly can rely on his films to make me smile when I'm down. We all miss you, Gene!

  • THEY SAID HE HAD A UNCUT PENIS ! DID U ALL KNOW THAT?

  • @dannys2222 What??

  • i really wish i could've met him. he is my greatest inspiration...not just as an actor or dancer, but as a person too

  • they don't make stars like him anymore, a true professional

  • A couple seconds into the video, a little ad box popped up asking if "he" is cheating on me. Yes, YouTube, Gene Kelly is cheating on me!!! D':

  • I need a time-travel machine.

    D:

  • Gene i miss your smile, you are a great legend

  • GENE, You will be the BEST EVER !!!!

  • 'S Wonderful...love this man!!

  • What a guy..

  • Gene giving credit to all those people behind the scenes. What a beautiful, lovely, sincere individual Mr Kelly was :)

  • oh, that voice

  • I'm 18 and I have to say that I listen to gene Kelly on my iPod almost 24/7,also rave over is films. he is my hero. I miss him. I wish I was born back when he was boomin' I would have been there to cheer him on! :)

We love you, Mr. Gene Curran Kelly -3

  • Damn I truly was born too late. I mean I love everything from the 40's 50's and 60's and so on but can only see it on tv and YouTube:(. Wish I could of been there

  • This guy is rather awesome...

  • thats cool!!

  • He is one heck of a gentleman, and I truly love him. What an honorable man. I love EVERY movie he did... and appreciate the gratitude he shared with the people in the background. What a guy! is absolutely right.

  • Gene Kelly you made Pittsburgh proud! Love ya!

  • @RichardElden THAT is not why she wasn't there!

  • How sad that Rita Hayworth was so riddled with Alzheimers by this time, that she couldn't share this night with Gene.

  • Thank you for adding this tribute to Gene Kelly. Now, he was a dancer! He was a hard taskmaster in practising with his partners, but look at the results! He taught Debbie Reynolds to dance for Singin' In The Rain and look where she's gone. I had the opportunity to meet Mr. Kelly and talk to him for awhile; what you saw and heard on that AFI stage is what I got when talking to him. My only regret was in not asking him to dance a few steps with me - even though I can't dance! God bless you Gene.

  • Thanks for this special video.

Gene Kelly was an inspiration. That was entertainment. I want it back the good old time.He was a talented, nice person.

  • every time Gene Kelly opens his mouth to sing or speak he just captures you, he was such an inspirational talented person. There are very few actors nowadays that can measure up to him

    He can sing

    He can dance

    and he can act

  • Now that was a speech.

  • Interesting that they would use as his exit music "You Wonderful You" from Summer Stock, which was Judy Garland's last MGM film.

  • Hey check out my spotlight on Gene Kelly! It was my very first one so it's not great :p Just click my username and on my channel the vid will be called Spotlight: Gene Kelly. I did my first one on him cuz he's my favorite! He's so inspiring for ppl who dream of becoming dancers somedayy...

  • OH gene was so wonderful.. better than any stars today

  • lol. cute.

  • abbamoney. . . . it does look like Fred

I was thinking the same thing !

  • Is it Fred Astaire at 3:58?

  • I'd say he aged beautifully.

  • YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW LONG I HAVE WAITED TO SEE THIS CLIP!

Gene Kelly is my absoloute inspiration, and I would not be who I am today without his input into my life. In my opinion, Gene Kelly is THEE most talented man to have EVER walked this earth.

I am 15 years old, and I would love to think that I am one of his biggest fans.

I was born in the wrong decade, because I do not listen to Lady Gaga, Kesha or any other modern day artists like that. I listen to Gene Kelly.

    THANKYOU.

  • @DanniiLovesMusicals Me too.I don't like today's music that much.I prefer Gene Kelly,Judy Garland,Fred Astaire,Frank Sinatra,Dean Martin etc.So much talent.I wish there where more people like them today.

  • @DanniiLovesMusicals trust me, I'm 4 years older than you BUT I LOVE HIM A GREAT DEAL TOO!!! we share the same sorrow!

  • @DanniiLovesMusicals You are just like me :) I also think I was born in the wrong era!!! I'm a big fan of Shirley Temple and Gene kelly, Im 22 and I also don't listen to Lady Gaga or Kesha...

Keep it up!! Wish you the best life and career!!

  • This guy was the epitome of awesome! So talented and so gracious. There should be way more people like him in the world! :-)

  • What an awesome, talented guy... A class act if there ever was one. Great clip! =D

  • Thanks you, Thank you for posting the entire speech! Kelly was so hella cool & I totally admire his talent, respect his legacy!! This made my day...no,my year!

  • What a classy man

  • AUUU REGIO.

  • He looks so different!!!

  • @nitrorev386 Well, that happens when you get older... ;)

Still, I think that he looks very much like himself as we know him - witty, charming, lively and rather swift on his feet (considering his age)! And MY GOSH - his kids look totally like his younger self - the smiles, the eyes, etc!! I loved his speech, btw, (he practically memorized it, wow!) and how some of the other great dancers of time looked admiring up at him! ... What a guy! :D
