I watched lots of TV from the era, but never “Hill Street Blues”, so I had no idea who Taurean Blacque (b. 5/10/41) was as he wraps up the gratitude in this 1980s NBC promo. My first thought: “Who is this wannabe thug who didn’t bother to take the toothpick out of his mouth?” Blacque’s birth in NEWARK, NJ (b. 5/10/41) bookends the promo celebs perfectly since it opened with Keshia Knight Pulliam, RUDY HUXtable, from “The COSBY Show” also being born in NEWARK. The 1986 NBC promo starts with NEWARK, NJ-born KeSHIA KNIGHT PULLiam, RUDY HuxTABLE from “The Cosby Show”. Advancing to Jason Bateman and BETty Thomas could evoke “mate bait”; NEWARK mayor Cory “skipping E” Booker; secret wager games; and perhaps the stone cult. No “Knight Rider” stars, since the show had just been cancelled, but Peter Parros was on the final 1985-86 season and married Jerri Morgan on the 13th b’day of NBA player Grant Henry Hill: OCT. 5, 1985.
