There are a lot of advantages and disadvantage to the NHS. It's great to be able to walk into any hospital without ID and receive treatment. But it's very expensive and costs the taxpayer a fortune. It's very badly managed and the country ends up further in debt to pay for people to have sex-changes and gastric bands.
Labour have done nothing but destroy the NHS. Get real, Prescott! Hannan has a far more real grasp of our economy than you do, that's become apparent when you consider the fact our debt levels are almost rising above the 1 trillion mark. The socialist system has failed, perpetually, Hannan doesn't want to dispose of our health care system, he just wants it to be a more manageable size and make if more efficient.

There are faults in every health care system, just that the NHS doesnt have many and the ones it does have arent as big as the American one. The NHS is brilliant, one of the many things us British can be proud of.
No, because you talk as though the only options are the US system or ours. Ofcourse it is better to cover everyone and not leave 50 million ppl unable to see a doctor. However, if you look at the ratings done by international groups The NHS comes out quite badly. The French is rated as the best in Europe, and from what i have read about the Swedish system that is the one i wish that we had in Britain. They do pay a lot of tax, but i would rather pay more and get a better system.
@mty1 " we pay about 100 billion a year for it or something"
It's probably best to research actual costs rather than grab some extravagant figures out of thin air. As it is, you're out by about a factor of 1000!

fuck off john prescott i was never consulted over whether i wanted to pay for this bullshit, here is a man who steals peoples money and puts it into something to make himself look good, i work, i'll decide where my pay goes not any one of you.
@maskofsan1ty your damn right i have after how much i get taxed, that doesnt mean i think its a good deal, i'd happily keep the money taxed from me for the NHS and never use it again.
you are a cloud of fuckdust lol why don't you go to america and decide what you spend your wages on but don't get sick coz you will be left to die in the street which is what selfish fucktards like you deserve.
@88dmunro there is nothing compassionate about taking other peoples money by force for things they never consented to, i'll decide what i spend the products of my own labour on, you can too, if you want healthcare, great you get it, what makes you think i should pay for it?
Get life you fuckin dinosaur The NHS has to reform and we have to pay more in tax or private heath insurance, it can not be free for ever, the world and life expectance is changing too fast.
erm the nhs is knackered! it has been run into the ground by successive governments! one can now get IVF on the NHS, even if you're a gay couple or you lived like shit and now cant have kids, cos you lived like a sack of shit, or you can also be obese, then get money to lose the weight unhealthily fast and have the excess fat trimmed off - all on the nhs! but get cancer and see what happens... where does hannan say nhs bad ideology? he says it's fucked, not bad in principle, bad management etc!?
I have watched the vids of Hannan, and this vid. My oh my does Dan put forward a better argument, Prescott is just blabbing on some rhetoric, whereas Hannan actually speaks in an intelligent and sensical manor
No he does not.. TheNHS may not be Brilliant but it is far better for the majority of our citizens than would be an American system. Hannan does not want "everybody" to have equal treatment he just wants " a better" service.. for the people who can afford it. Which ultimately will mean that very few people will be able to afford the prices.. You cant see that? you are either on his imoral level or just plain stupid!
@whiskasalpha What makes u say that very few people will be able to afford it? Its not like in America very few people can afford it. If u take the government out of health, then competition will be able to work. The monopoly that is the NHS will be broken down to a competitive market, in which prices are brought down. Doing it this way i believe would enable the best health provision, the latest drugs (which the NHS does not have), and a better service, I am not imoral, neither is Hannan.
Hannan is imoral, he hides behind personal choice and.. lol Libetarisim, Something i am and he is NOT! Competition does not work for everybody.. Just look around you.. We need a health service for everybody.. NOT for those that can pay.. I donot think you know what you are talking about..
@whiskasalpha He is not imoral at all he just has his own values and beliefs, as do i. Clearly they are not the same as yours. I am a strong libertarian. I do not believe health care is a right. And yes i do know what i am talking about. I hate having debates on youtube for this exact reason. I present my point of view, admitting it is different to yours, and you have to claim that just because our points of view differ that i do not know what i am talking about.
I replied to you but apparently my comment has been, moderated, what happened to freedom of speech. You have it, when you post such offensive remarks as.. I do not believe healthcare is a right" Curious?
@whiskasalpha Because clearly your comment was more offensive than mine, looks like you abandoned your freedom. I believe you should have been able to post whatever it is you wanted to, but hey. I know my views wont be popular, but when did health become a right? Sure its a right if you pay for it (through taxation or private payment) because you are abiding by the system, be it nationalised or privatised. But i do not favour nationalisation of health. Check some Ron Paul, i agree with him
"when did Health become a right"... When we all started to be educated and realised our altruisn! .. I am so sorry that you are NOT mentally able to realise how precious a life is. :-(
It appears that your education and upbrining is inadequate! Right wing Americans masqurading as "libetarians" does not validate your arguments.. Are you sure that you truly believe this
@whiskasalpha I realise how precious life is, of course i do. Why do you have to make yourself look so much worse by claiming i am uneducated, and that my upbringing is inadequate? You have no god dam idea about either of these, stop being so aggressive because you make yourself look so much worse, just have a reasonable debate. I truly believe what i say, it is my personal philosophy, i believe our only official individual rights are those of life, liberty, property and the pursuit of happiness
" life, liberty, property and the pursuit of happiness" Enough said..
The right to get rich by any means you like and to hell with anyone else..
Oh yes i forgot to say how hackneyed!...
Tis the usual right of the right to grab the moral high ground from those who have nothing..
Stop being so aggressive says you.. I says... Stop challenging universal human rights.. Such as free Health care and education.. Prattle on dear... Duh!
@whiskasalpha Free health care and education are not human rights! I dont believe they are anyway. And no not the right to get rich by any means, because i do not believe in getting rich by illegal methods, such as stealing, black market trade, fraud etc. Dont take me out of context
Okay, seeing as you cannot grasp the basics. WHY do you think people have more right to propety than Healthcare??
Oh and i didnt get you out of context.. I was trying to show you that the only place that shared your views as part of its immature and backward system of government. ie the USelss of A allows people ( corps) to get rich at any extent.. Ps.. If you come on here spouting such crap as you have then expected to be treated harshly....
@whiskasalpha Because you dont have a right to free property do you? You have a right to heath in the sense that you have the right to pursue it and get it with payment, but u dont have the right to it in the sense that u can demand it off somebody else. Everybody has the right to health education etc if they want to go out and get it, but they dont have the right to demand that somebody takes care of them for free
@Tracywithafacey You believe in a right to life? Then why oppose a free healthcare service? The government already protects its citizens' right to life by funding a police force to track down murderers, I'm assuming you think that's a legitimate role of government, so how is government funding healthcare to treat disease fundamentally different to that? In fact most of us are more likely to die from disease than from being murdered, so surely it should be more important.
@wowsa0 Ye corse i do, but i also believe the private sector can provide healthcare better, i know of no way for the private sector to fund the police force. The thing is, no matter how you pay for health, you still pay for it. The police is different in the sense that people dont go and pay for the police when they need it, it has to be there all the time, protecting not just when someone has been murdered. You only get healthcare when you need it, you have police all the time
@Tracywithafacey There are people who want the police force to be run privately, it's not impossible. Everyone pays for the police at the moment too, so it's there for everyone when they need it, why should healthcare be different? Here in the UK you get healthcare all the time, not just when you need it, that's one of the perks of the NHS. Everyone gets vaccinated, everyone in risk groups gets free checkups. Again, why should healthcare be funded differently to the police?
Mistake? I wouldn't say so. Failure? Perhaps. Liebour can put their own spin on it all they like, but the NHS needs a re-thinking and a new NHS, a fairer, quicker more effecient NHS should immerge. But that'll never happen if we can never criticise it.
@BobbyHuertas70 - You got it in one, Bobby - he is a drunk syphylitic. Most countries have some form of free medical treatment for the poor. Because it is one of the few things of 'value' that the Labour party ever did, the Brits have been force-fed the fantasy that our service is somehow unique. Well, in Europe, the service is the most expensive, and survival rates for cancer and heart treatment is by far the worst.
@MrGilles1990 we are the biggest socialist country in the world?...okay
'France, like other countries in Europe, has a system of universal health care largely financed by government through a system of national health insurance' wikipedia
Just because you are studying economics does not make you an expert.. Even when you acheived your economics qualification will still not make you an expert... Its Flawed! :-))
@whiskasalpha i'm not saying it makes me an expert, i'm just saying that my opinion is backed up by evidence plus i think when an actual economics expert tells me something in a lecture i will tend to lean to his side. all be it expert are not always right
@trico0712 the vast majority of French people have private suplimentary insurance, more importantly anyone who uses public insurance must first pay with there own money and be reimbursed a percentage at a later date.
Daniel Hannan is a "fart in a jar" Flowery language and a few infantile anal licking books about North America does not make him "brainy".. With Hannan you should think " The Emperors new clothing"
Daniel Hannan is an over indulged slaphead.. More than that, his Sycophantic, arse licking to the cretins across the pond is quite offensive to watch.. Has he no shame.!
What would you know about the NHS you fat stupid fucking cunt? as if you join the endless queue like everyone else,
You really expect us to believe you use the same NHS as us "little people"?? you really expect us to believe you use the NHS instead of paying to go private?
Get out of my face you gluttonous cunt, before i knock you out,
'based upon need and not ability to pay' - unfortunately you cannot suspend reality like this and the true is reality is that the NHS is broke, it is funded in the most inefficient way possible and provides low quality care.
Prescott, the ignorant pleb, could only respond to Daniel Hannan via a youtube video because he knows - and we know he knows - that he hasn't got the intellectual vigour nor vocabulary to actually match him in person, and would no doubt resort to violence if he couldn't get his own way.
This man has to be the most vilest, parasitic slug in politics - a shining example of the ignorant type of dolt who got where he is via pity from New Labour.
Learn to speak you fucking retard and stop spitting venom constantly out of that obnoxious mouth of yours for once and say something constructive.
@TheElasticJesus Yes I've used it, but only because we are FORCED to pay for it. There should be a choice of an alternative - private healthcare, without having to pay for the NHS as well.
If our system is so great, the envy of the world, why isn't everyone copying us?! Haha. The Singapore health system is one of the best and fairest in the world, we should adopt a similair method.
But then, when your company falls flat on its face, and u wake up one morning having sweet FA in your bank account, DON'T EXPECT the taxpayer funded NHS to bail you out.
@TheElasticJesus You are probably one of those cockroach middle managers in the NHS who gets paid £3000000000 an hour to shuffle paper across a desk, that's why you support the health service. Or, your dad is one of them.
Nothing to do with PRIVATE pharmaceuticals charging £100 a tablet then? ,, ,, ,, ,, FIXING the leaking roofs that John Major left behind, or the 2 year waiting lists, or ALL the NEW hospitals?
--
BTW How's squeaky clean New Tory David Laws this morning?
This from a highly educated 26 year old who has been it, seen it, done it, & won it.
SHUT UP U FOOL!
DIDDUMS. Are u another of those hypocrites who believes working-class taxpayers SHOULD keep on subsidising middle-class STUDENTS, while making the Rich EXEMPT from forking out on the NHS?
As for the questions you asked me, no i don't approve of anyone rich or poor subsidising the "education" of middle class losers who spend 5 years studying philosophy and then end up working in the civil service shuffling papers around. Nobody sane approves of that, the only reason we have the fucked up situation of education (And every other social and economic problem.) in this country is because of 13 years of Labour bullshit you fucking moron.
So you hate socialism but turn a blind eye when that VERY system makes the armed forces, the fire brigade, police, and health service possible.
If you love freedom so much that you resent having evil taxmen taking money out of your pocket then tell me, HOW MUCH WOULD YOU VOLUNTEER OUT OF YOUR HARD EARNED WAGE TO KEEP THESE THINGS GOING?
...C'mon - a soldier? Is he worth 10% of your wage: 30%, 50%? How about 100%?
All you mouthpieces are great when you've had a few pints. "Oh, if it were me I'd pay the troops 3 grand a week."
Well do it then. Set up a private fund and put your money where your mouth is.
Charity. Joke. If it were up to the individual the aforementioned services would consist of one boat, a depadidated van & a bloke called Roger to put out your fires.
Could it be the multi-cultural floating labour market that you resent? You know, the one engineered by the CORPORATISTS so there's always an idiot around who'll work for £5 an hour.
Could it be lack of gear in our armed forces whose manpower was cut in half by Thatcher. CONSERVATIVE - good on defence: good at stripping work-forces to the bone and saying to the remainder, jump higher, die harder, and sooner...
Free healthcare is great, but is there any need for the public sector to provide it? Why can't we subsidise private sector health care by giving people a healthcare allowance based on their illness which they can spend wherever they like?
This would make hospitals competitive and the quality of healthcare would improve, who would take their money to a dirty or poor performing hospital?
@happyfred3 Subsidise private healthcare? LOL And who decides the allowance? Cancer/ HIV/cystic fibrosis. C'mon...How much is each worth? --- And competition? LOL. BLAH! How about EVERY hospital doing what it says on the tin? -- Are doctors doctors, or are doctors just doctors pretending to be doctors? -- Trust me on this, a rocket scientist doesn't stop being a rocket scientist just because there's been a power shift in the boardroom.
@TheElasticJesus Ignoring your moronic babbling at the end of that comment, the allowance is not decided in terms of, you can have a certain amount to spend on what you need, but when you need the money it is allowed to you.
What you will see here is that I am proposing spending more money on the NHS but demanding the quality we all deserve.
@TheElasticJesus Tell you what, when you can spell big words, I will allow you to use them, the correct spelling is"condescension".
And as to me failing to see your point, I would suggest that it is not I but yourself who has failed to see the point, furthermore, I would suggest you read my comment once again and return to me with an answer from which we can have an intelligent conversation.
My point was very clear; to make ALL hospitals of the same standard - not create a lottery. And my point about doctors was so explicit that even a 5 year old could understand it. If a doctor cannot perform as well as others how did he get to be a doctor in the first place?
As for ALLOW ME to use certain words - who the FUCK do you think you are?
@TheElasticJesus "Whoever said I wanted to engage with you?" Really wish you would because I'm smarter then my comments so far give me credit for.
"If a doctor cannot perform as well as others how did he get to be a doctor in the first place?" A poor point really, take surgeons, some have steadier hands than others, this makes one surgeon better than another.
"Yup, I was bang on about the arrogance. "
When people brand you, you might as well live up to it.
You've made my point for me. People with shaky hands shouldn't do intricate work. End of. It isn't so much, 'can i take an engine apart & put it back together again, it's "have I got the strength to do it?"'
Anyway back to basics. My personal experience of the NHS is good. But the press get great mileage from 0.01% whose experience was bad. It's all vested interests at war with each other. How bad is the 'bad' NHS - really?
@TheElasticJesus My personal experiences of the NHS have been very bad, my Aunt Beryl was given an overdose of chemotherapy and died, my grandfather was left two days after his admission before a doctor even came to diagnose him, he was dead within the week.
My Great-grandmother was blinded when a doctor dropped a needle in her eye during cataracts surgery.
I contracted a very serious virus last summer which affected my heart, after 6 blood tests they still can't tell me what virus it was.
@TheElasticJesus The funny thing is mate, I don't actually oppose the NHS, I am playing devils advocate with you, but you are unwilling have a proper debate with me and that makes me look down upon you.
Those you resent paying when earning lots of dosh?
Let's face it, even though you lot keep ranting on about 'everybody' being FREE to make it, you'd rather they didn't.
LOW PAID drudgery is what enables you lot to keep on living in fantasy land. If you are intent on driving down wages then the least you can do is help all those wage-slaves who keep la-la land ticking over.
You proposed having to pay for all treatments you have received at 'industrial rate' ( I assume you mean Market rate). I was pointing out that since those people have already paid some/as much/more than that so it wasn't actually free treatment.
@TheElasticJesus I don't know why you have chosen 16 as the cut off point can I assume you concede that people over 16 do pay for the 'free' health care they receive? But anyway Aside from the obvious VAT, unless you are completely self sufficient, don't buy stuff from shops and other people. You pay for the proportion of the price that is increased due to the tax *they* pay. So yes you did put money towards your healthcare.
@TheElasticJesus Well you appeared to think it was "FREE" not "Free at the point of service" ( this is *not* a small difference), as you not only stated it was free, when asked about getting the taxes back in exchange for having to pay the market rate for the health care you have received you said "What Taxes?".
Now back to my original question:
Do we get all the taxes that paid for it back too?
@DavidKB123 Each person pays out of wages or benefits, I pay £5 a month and work 15 hours a week plus I am a student, we don't 'tax the hell' out of anyone and it's not like no one can afford a fiver each month for free doctor's visits, free eye tests, and now, in Scotland, free prescriptions. The only criticism I have of the NHS is that we need more doctors and nurses! That's the God's honest truth from a Brit who uses the NHS! Have fun tearing this apart.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
the nhs has turned out to be a 60 year mistake. it once was good - when you had matrons on wards but there are too many people who have come to england that have acute ailments from their poor countrys that now cost the nhs relentlessly.
thus, people like me - white, london born, straight male has to wait 2 weeks to merely see a doctor for 2 minutes.
Good deterrant, i can't afford to take the time off work - this is what the governmentdoes - puts obstruction in the way so people don't bother
Frank - if you think privatised health care and TV programmes that are interrupted every 10 minutes by 4 minute long adverts are fantastic, and if you want as a close to a free-market political system as is so great, why don't you emigrate to the United States of America, and take your mate Hannan with you? I am sure you both would be happy there...
The Victorian era was the greatest in the UK's history and it was Victorian values that made this country great. Nobody cares about Glasgow and the North East. We should have joined forces with Hitler and Mussolini and invaded Russia, thereby smashing Communism forever. I hope the NHS is completely privatised along with the useless, evil BBC.
Victorian values? Such as sending children up chimneys to work as sweeps or having children in adult prisons? or workhouses? or no old age pensions? or people fainting at the sight of a piano leg and going to church on a sunday and beating up their kids? So you defend the holocaust and concentration camps then? And what if you lived in the North-East or Glasgow?
I think you'll find that child labour was unfortunately abolished during the reign of her uncle William IV and that the piano leg story is just an urban myth. PS: Stalin killed far more Jews than Hitler ever did and it was us who first used concentration camps while fighting the Boers.
I don't dispute that Stalin was a bastard in his time.... I haven't come on here to defend him or communism..... I have come on to defend the NHS. I dispute that about Jews, and if you think Hitler shouldn't have been taken out, then there is something morally and ideologically wrong with you. For all the faults of today, I still don't think the Victorians are people to follow... one is definitely not amused!
The poor do not have to worry about the stress of having to pay when there is a NHS, when they are ill. There are no insurance forms to fill in. In the first year of the NHS, millions had their teeth out. They didn't before. Why? Because they couldn't afford it. I hope the NHS is here in 100 years time. It has also helped me greatly,... and as far as I am concerned, is one of the British institutions that should be cherished.
The Daily Mail, Daily Telegraph and Daily Express are all staunchly Conservative. The Times is slightly right of centre. The Mail and Express are hard-right. The Sun is a right-wing paper, ...though it will support... whichever party it thinks are going to win an election. The Mirror is a staunch Labour supporter, and the Independent and Guardian are slightly centre-left. They say the BBC is left-wing biased. That doesn't look to me like a left-wing dominated media.
That's right, and let Cameron abolish the neutrality laws so Sky News can become a broadcast version of the Daily Mail.. Where will be the neutrality in the UK media then? The Sun has consistently (One of the few things it is consistent about), deployed a fiercely anti-BBC agenda. The Sun's proprietor, Rupert Murdoch, is, through Sky Television, one of the BBC's direct rivals. Any coincidence?
For those in the dole queues? For those suffering the indignity of the means test? For those living in Jarrow and other areas who went on hunger marches? In 1933, 30% of Glaswegians were unemployed due to the severe decline in heavy industry. In some towns and cities in the north east, unemployment reached as high as 70% as ship production fell 90%. It was a decade of fascist dictators such as Hitler and Mussolini, of the Spanish civil war, in which a fascist emerged as the victor.
P.S love how he practically quoted Marx's "from each according to his ability to each according to their need", shows you that the heart of the Labour party still lies with Stalin.
Am gonna be contorversail and say i actually quite like Prescott, who worked his way up to be a minister from nothing unlike Cameron et al who were lucky enough to be born into it! As for the NHs and the BBC they are the most beloved UK institutions precisely because they are public. The BBC produces more quality TV than all the commerical channels and the website is the best in the world and respected as impartial the world around!
Prescott, you fat fuck. Your simple mind is only able to repeat arguments you've heard for 60 yrs. Decent politicians are always able to develop ingenius ways to help people. You just think it's about spending more money. You're done in politics and will be remembered as the pie man.
John Prescott has echoed people all over the UK who chesrish the NHS as the apex of morality in an otherwise often unfair world.
You on the other hand have just shown that you probably already have a tumour in your brain. Please call NHS direct, they will help you and do not discriminate....
Everything should be privatised. Thank Christ the unelected, autistic freak Brown will be gone by May. The BBC must be broken up so there will be no more overpaid talentless cunts like Jonathan Ross again.
Everything should be public. Thank Christ the Capitalist freaks have had the rug pulled from under them and are now enjoying a recession. The BBC must remain public so there can be no more private money hungry fat cats invading our lives ever again.
The BBC should be privatised because there is no point in its existence at all when we have hundreds of channels. Don't worry, they all pay themselves ridiculous amounts. How much welfare do you get?
The BBC should be public because there is no point in being bombarded by hundreds of channels owned by media magnates with differing motives. Don't worry, the BBC will still be around long after you get Cancer.
I don't get welfare. I work.
Also your useage of the word 'welfare' suggests that you are probably American anyway.
The health care system looks like it has failed you, Johnny. A bit worse for wear?

erm the nhs is knackered! it has been run into the ground by successive governments! one can now get IVF on the NHS, even if you're a gay couple or you lived like shit and now cant have kids, cos you lived like a sack of shit, or you can also be obese, then get money to lose the weight unhealthily fast and have the excess fat trimmed off - all on the nhs! but get cancer and see what happens... where does hannan say nhs bad ideology? he says it's fucked, not bad in principle, bad management etc!?

Tracywithafacey 1 year ago
@Tracywithafacey ..
You cant see that? you are either on his imoral level or just plain stupid!
whiskasalpha 9 months ago
@whiskasalpha What makes u say that very few people will be able to afford it? Its not like in America very few people can afford it. If u take the government out of health, then competition will be able to work. The monopoly that is the NHS will be broken down to a competitive market, in which prices are brought down. Doing it this way i believe would enable the best health provision, the latest drugs (which the NHS does not have), and a better service, I am not imoral, neither is Hannan.
Tracywithafacey 9 months ago
@Tracywithafacey
Hannan is imoral, he hides behind personal choice and.. lol Libetarisim, Something i am and he is NOT! Competition does not work for everybody.. Just look around you.. We need a health service for everybody.. NOT for those that can pay.. I donot think you know what you are talking about..
whiskasalpha 9 months ago
@whiskasalpha He is not imoral at all he just has his own values and beliefs, as do i. Clearly they are not the same as yours. I am a strong libertarian. I do not believe health care is a right. And yes i do know what i am talking about. I hate having debates on youtube for this exact reason. I present my point of view, admitting it is different to yours, and you have to claim that just because our points of view differ that i do not know what i am talking about.

whiskasalpha 9 months ago
@whiskasalpha Because clearly your comment was more offensive than mine, looks like you abandoned your freedom. I believe you should have been able to post whatever it is you wanted to, but hey. I know my views wont be popular, but when did health become a right? Sure its a right if you pay for it (through taxation or private payment) because you are abiding by the system, be it nationalised or privatised. But i do not favour nationalisation of health. Check some Ron Paul, i agree with him
Tracywithafacey 9 months ago
@Tracywithafacey..
Are you sure that you truly believe this
whiskasalpha 9 months ago
@whiskasalpha I realise how precious life is, of course i do. Why do you have to make yourself look so much worse by claiming i am uneducated, and that my upbringing is inadequate? You have no god dam idea about either of these, stop being so aggressive because you make yourself look so much worse, just have a reasonable debate. I truly believe what i say, it is my personal philosophy, i believe our only official individual rights are those of life, liberty, property and the pursuit of happiness
Tracywithafacey 9 months ago
@Tracywithafacey
Duh!
whiskasalpha 9 months ago
@whiskasalpha Free health care and education are not human rights! I dont believe they are anyway. And no not the right to get rich by any means, because i do not believe in getting rich by illegal methods, such as stealing, black market trade, fraud etc. Dont take me out of context
Tracywithafacey 9 months ago
@Tracywithafacey
Ps.. If you come on here spouting such crap as you have then expected to be treated harshly....
whiskasalpha 9 months ago
@Tracywithafacey ..
Why are Free health care and education NOT human right, when the right to property are?
whiskasalpha 8 months ago
@whiskasalpha Because you dont have a right to free property do you? You have a right to heath in the sense that you have the right to pursue it and get it with payment, but u dont have the right to it in the sense that u can demand it off somebody else. Everybody has the right to health education etc if they want to go out and get it, but they dont have the right to demand that somebody takes care of them for free

@whiskasalpha Im just bored, i have exams at the moment, more important things to do than debate you on youtube my friend.
Tracywithafacey 8 months ago
@Tracywithafacey You believe in a right to life? Then why oppose a free healthcare service? The government already protects its citizens' right to life by funding a police force to track down murderers, I'm assuming you think that's a legitimate role of government, so how is government funding healthcare to treat disease fundamentally different to that? In fact most of us are more likely to die from disease than from being murdered, so surely it should be more important.
wowsa0 9 months ago
@wowsa0 Ye corse i do, but i also believe the private sector can provide healthcare better, i know of no way for the private sector to fund the police force. The thing is, no matter how you pay for health, you still pay for it. The police is different in the sense that people dont go and pay for the police when they need it, it has to be there all the time, protecting not just when someone has been murdered. You only get healthcare when you need it, you have police all the time
Tracywithafacey 9 months ago
@Tracywithafacey There are people who want the police force to be run privately, it's not impossible. Everyone pays for the police at the moment too, so it's there for everyone when they need it, why should healthcare be different? Here in the UK you get healthcare all the time, not just when you need it, that's one of the perks of the NHS. Everyone gets vaccinated, everyone in risk groups gets free checkups. Again, why should healthcare be funded differently to the police?
wowsa0 9 months ago

This would make hospitals competitive and the quality of healthcare would improve, who would take their money to a dirty or poor performing hospital?

How much did you pay, exactly?
TheElasticJesus 8 months ago

DavidKB123 8 months ago
@DavidKB123 Each person pays out of wages or benefits, I pay £5 a month and work 15 hours a week plus I am a student, we don't 'tax the hell' out of anyone and it's not like no one can afford a fiver each month for free doctor's visits, free eye tests, and now, in Scotland, free prescriptions. The only criticism I have of the NHS is that we need more doctors and nurses! That's the God's honest truth from a Brit who uses the NHS! Have fun tearing this apart.

thus, people like me - white, london born, straight male has to wait 2 weeks to merely see a doctor for 2 minutes.

If the NHS is privatised, back to Victorian Britain we go....
Kevinasp 2 years ago
The Victorian era was the greatest in the UK's history and it was Victorian values that made this country great. Nobody cares about Glasgow and the North East. We should have joined forces with Hitler and Mussolini and invaded Russia, thereby smashing Communism forever. I hope the NHS is completely privatised along with the useless, evil BBC.
FrankClanton 2 years ago
Victorian values? Such as sending children up chimneys to work as sweeps or having children in adult prisons? or workhouses? or no old age pensions? or people fainting at the sight of a piano leg and going to church on a sunday and beating up their kids? So you defend the holocaust and concentration camps then? And what if you lived in the North-East or Glasgow?
Kevinasp 2 years ago
I think you'll find that child labour was unfortunately abolished during the reign of her uncle William IV and that the piano leg story is just an urban myth. PS: Stalin killed far more Jews than Hitler ever did and it was us who first used concentration camps while fighting the Boers.
FrankClanton 2 years ago

The NHS should be completely privatised along with the BBC.

Sure privatise the NHS, and let millions of Britons be like they were before the start of World War II.......

Life was much better in the 1930s. The BBC should be privatised along with the NHS.

The greatest invention ever? What a joke Prescott, what a joke. Have you not heard of liberal democracy, haebus corpus, or the internet?
Daniel Hannan: a national hero and bastion of liberalism in this quagmire of socialism our county has degenerated into.
Far more than you could ever be Mr Prescott.
benjiebr0074l 2 years ago
Am gonna be contorversail and say i actually quite like Prescott, who worked his way up to be a minister from nothing unlike Cameron et al who were lucky enough to be born into it! As for the NHs and the BBC they are the most beloved UK institutions precisely because they are public. The BBC produces more quality TV than all the commerical channels and the website is the best in the world and respected as impartial the world around!

@davetarpey0412 Well said Dave, Alan Johnson being another good example.. just a shame there aren't more of their kind.

Prescott, you fat fuck. Your simple mind is only able to repeat arguments you've heard for 60 yrs. Decent politicians are always able to develop ingenius ways to help people. You just think it's about spending more money. You're done in politics and will be remembered as the pie man.

Now that was a Prescott punch lol! Two jabs, two Jags, two homes, working man Prescott.....

John Prescott is a stupid fat cunt.
I hope he gets CANCER.
FrankClanton 2 years ago
Maybe you didnt realise i was taking the piss out of him....
I also think he is a stupid fat cunt. Though i think giving him cancer is a bit harsh lol!
thebigJM92 2 years ago
Maybea little cancer would help the fat fuck fit into his coffin?
FrankClanton 2 years ago
LOL! Then he would be able to see how "brilliant" the fucking NHS is.
thebigJM92 2 years ago
John Prescott has echoed people all over the UK who chesrish the NHS as the apex of morality in an otherwise often unfair world.
You on the other hand have just shown that you probably already have a tumour in your brain. Please call NHS direct, they will help you and do not discriminate....
...Unlike you.

The NHS should be completely privatised along with the BBC.
I hope the stupid aft cunt Prescott dies of CANCER.
FrankClanton 2 years ago
Sure, then we can all be like the Americans. That would be lovely.
BBC becomes FOX
NHS becomes Multiple Private Companies
and Frank Clanton gets denied treatment because of a pre-existing condition.

Everything should be privatised. Thank Christ the unelected, autistic freak Brown will be gone by May. The BBC must be broken up so there will be no more overpaid talentless cunts like Jonathan Ross again.
FrankClanton 2 years ago
Everything should be public. Thank Christ the Capitalist freaks have had the rug pulled from under them and are now enjoying a recession. The BBC must remain public so there can be no more private money hungry fat cats invading our lives ever again.
dauntless111 2 years ago
The BBC should be privatised because there is no point in its existence at all when we have hundreds of channels. Don't worry, they all pay themselves ridiculous amounts. How much welfare do you get?
FrankClanton 2 years ago
The BBC should be public because there is no point in being bombarded by hundreds of channels owned by media magnates with differing motives. Don't worry, the BBC will still be around long after you get Cancer.
I don't get welfare. I work.
Also your useage of the word 'welfare' suggests that you are probably American anyway.
dauntless111 2 years ago
Oh, so you work as a whore to supplement your benefits?
The BBC is fucking crap and I hope Dave sorts it out by the end of the year.
The stupid fat cunt Prescott, who has milked the public more in expenses than anyone else, will be dead many many years before I am.
FrankClanton 2 years ago
Stupid burger eating Americans like you should worry about your own country and stop bothering mine.
Yes, you are probably right, you will live longer than Prescott, as soon as you pay your HMO for the grease to be pumped from your veins.
dauntless111 2 years ago
I'm not an American you stupid slut. The UK isn't a country any more, it's just a piece of shit. Thank fuck there will be a new government very soon.
FrankClanton 2 years ago
Maybe not, but you sound like one.
The UK is not a country anymore? wow. Thats news to me.
Just a piece of shit? well, with people like you, I guess that's probably why.
Why don't you move to China where you can wish Cancer upon people to your hearts content. If you don't like the UK. Fuck off.
