Just picked up Minor Threat Complete Discography at the Flea Market and I love it. I dont see whats so wrong with this cover, its obviously different, no one can match Ian's voice.
re4master321 thats what I did. I got obsessed with Rise Against completely. Then checked out all their influences and the bands they like (Black Flag, Minor Threat, Propaghandi, etc.) and I love them too.
Wow Shabadoo, get the cock out of your ass and realize that this is a just an homage. Do you think Rise Against tries to get be successful through covers? No, they do them for fun. They're INFLUENCED by MT and BF, they don't aspire to be perfect clones. Just because they like a certain type of music doesn't mean that they HAVE to write it too. And this is a damn good cover too, just because it isn't Ian MacKaye singing doesn't mean that it sucks. If you don't like it, you can fuck off.

This is a musical travesty. it's like watching April Levine do Black Flag. I especially like the clueless tenor of the 14 year olds in the crowd. Too cute.
they do a good job on all their covers. they do it to pay homage to their favorite bands, not to try to be better, so who cares if its not as good as the origional, its still awesome.
@elsquibbs Agreed. This is so far the best minor threat cover i've heard. I'm a big fan of RA and i really have to give these guys credit for making prolly the best punk rock record of the 00's (RPM) and for introducing a new generation for the best fucking bands i've ever heard. If it wasn't for Rise Against i don't know if i had ever found Minor Threat, Black Flag, Bad Brains and stuff like that
This I can respect, lol. Yeah, RPM was crazy good, I still play through it all the time. I know alotta people who heard Rise Against's new stuff and liked it, so I played their older albums and they liked that so I threw some old school hardcore at 'em and...whadya know, they liked that too lol. Rise Against is the perfect gateway drug for newbies lookin' to ease into hardcore from more melodic mainstream offerings. I love Rise Against though, so I'm prolly a touch biased...

really? Child. really? what a crock of kiddie shit. If these half-fags love Pegboy and MT so much, why is their own stuff so weak? This clip is a musical travesty.
mabey they dotn want there music to be "strong"mabey the prefer it weaker cause in some cases its better then a full on guy yelling with bad drumming and a awful guitar riffs.not saying minor threat has those but shwo respect
@sgcdub I don't think RA are trying to be "better" anyway. They are a band that have been incredibly vocal about who influenced them, and performing a cover song of one of their heroes, is kinda like a shout out to them.
That's cool. As long as you know what you're talking about, I can respect your opinion. Just wanted to make sure you weren't some twelve year old who was just OHEMGEEing or something.
Shut the fuck up. They're the best band I know, and they're so great live.. and The Unraveling sounded a lot like this, so I have no fucking idea what you're talking about.
I hope they will do some new stuff, cuz I liked the way there were going with Sufferer & the Witness. But I'd love to hear some oldschool hardcore punk too.
My all-time-favorite-postcore band plays a song of my all-time-favorite-hardcore band. Hope they play some songs live in Germany. Oi! Oi! Oi!

Teen Idles came before Minor Threat. They were straight-edge hardcore. They were the first.

@rg813 Teen Idles had members from minor threat and minor threat coined the term so they we're first

I like Rise Against, but no- saying this is better than the Minor Threat version is an epic failure.
Doomstruction1979 3 years ago
I just personally think RA is better. But Minor Threat has a big influence on RA's music, I know that. RA is just more modern, and I like that.
