  • @popomatic, you likely know that Beth makes rare appearances in the nyc area, and released the amazing "Beautiful Day" track several years back. And, let's be clear, Warner Brothers had PLENTY of money and CHOOSE to not only spend NOTHING on promotion, but DESTROY this band via a predatory contract. Shameful.

  • Oh Beth Sorrentino.. where ARE you today, girl!! You wrote some really wonderful songs, I just wish someone with lots of money had picked up your cds and marketed them correctly.

  • @popomatic1970 she teaches music in NYC last i read.

  • A unique band...they should have galvanized a far more substantial following.

  • "Mark of man" was my favorite song on this album.

  • Sorry, that "only you and your friends know this awesome band" environment doesn't exist anymore.

    Thanks Lady Gaga.

  • the best band that no one ever heard of. love beth.

  • Whoa! It's been about 13 or 14 years since I've heard this song! Thanks! Love it!

  • 2:52 to 3:11 is so beautiful...

  • Ah! Refreshing as annisette and soda. The finest hour of their all-too-short career. Rocks harder than about 98% of the songs produced in 1995.

  • (read from my first post below) - these are the last lyrics)

howd you get into this with your fingers dry

and its me in your heart

    you keep your heels down

youre all set then you missed out

    keep your heels down

  • thank you for the lyrics. :)

  • can you keep tearing it down

you can bet if the points arent all around

you can bet if her feet just touch the ground

you can on the big one standing

can you tear this place down

  • you want them slicked back

can you keep that dress tight

you want them innocent and cute

    that keeps them in line

    and its your hard lesson

  • you can bet if the points aren't on you

you can bet if it makes her happy

you can bet on the big one standing

can you tear this place down

    how'd you get into this

    with your fingers dry

  • as odd as it sounds, what are the lyrics to this tune? this will help end a feud of sorts with an old friend..... thanks

  • Suddenly, Tammy! and the Ben Folds Five were the subject of a bitter piano-based rock rivalry in my house when I was a teenager. My sister and I just couldn't see eye to eye on the matter. I took the Suddenly, Tammy! side, and I stand by my convictions to this day.

  • ST were better musically, but ya gotta give BFF the edge in song writing. Both were great. Go York!

  • Ironically, ST's Snowman and BFF's Brick were about the same thing.

  • btw, if you ike Beth, check out her solo album, NINE SONGS, ONE STORY...

  • Great song from a great album! Thanks for posting this video! I got this CD originally back in the 90s totally by chance... I needed a replacement transparent jewel case and this album just happened to be in the 99 cent bin, which was pretty much the same price as an empty case (at the time)... I guess it's kinda sad that it was there, but I'm glad that I got to hear them at least... wish they had gotten more exposure...

  • who else loved this song and had a crush on beth?

  • There are several people at Warner Brothers who deserve to burn in hell for eternity for destroying this band...check out Beth's solo stuff...she needs to keep making music!

  • One of the great under appreciated bands. I wish they had been better known so we could have looked forward to expanded edition cd's for example.

  • bought this in 93'. actually found this CD in Japan in '02. i love this album. Beth was such a hottie.

  • This is way before piano was cool. The tape came out in the middle of grunge.Great lyrics and music.Every song is special.Every song!RE=RELEASE IT. Get some hip tv show to play river run or bound together.I know,it will never happen.Anyway i will never forget when i heard hard lesson and when i got the tape. This and Jeff Buckleys'Grace are the best releases not heard.

  • I bought their 'tape' randomly when I was in India way back in 1995. I was purely attracted to the yellow bus on the cover! Their music blew me away though. I am so glad I happened upon their tape! Love Beth's voice...wonder what happened to them? Can't find out much about them on the internet...

  • Like I just posted on 'Lamp', forgot how much I LOVED this record!! Chills up and down my arms!!

  • I also enjoy music videos. I enjoy this song's music video.

  • The one time I heard this song was on radio station WYCR, York, Hanover, Lancaster, Pennsylvania, back when they were 98YCR. They had a program called Combat Rock every Monday through Friday at 10:00 p.m. This program was a battle of new songs. This song was played in one of the battles but was never incorporated into WYCR'S playlist. I thought I would never hear this song again. I appreciate the opportunity hearing this song again.

  • remember bed check on 98YCR?

what was the name of the dj who hosted that show? that was huge in the late 80's metal years.

all the 14 year old hessian chicks with the huge bangs would dedicate sappy motley crue, poison or bon jovi ballads to their turkey hill iced tea drinking greasey boyfriends.

  • "remember bed check on 98YCR?

what was the name of the dj who hosted that show? that was huge in the late 80's metal years."

Wow! You just poked some neurons that haven't been fired up in years! I know exactly who you're talking about and don't remember his name either LOL.

  • I often wondered if I was the only one to own this CD...glad to see others got to taste this delicious recording. There used to be a show on FX at night called SoundFX and that's how i discovered a lot of great talent, this being one of those talents Suddenly tammy is a great sound and so distinct. Sort of makes you wonder what else you fans like that the rest of the world might not know about....

  • I miss this band sooooo much. So good.

  • Great song, and directed by Jim McKay--can't beat that....

  • what a GREAT video.

    thank you!

when is S,T! reuniting for a show at the chameleon? would pay TOP dollar for that show.

now if i could only obtain a copy of COMET, the unreleased warner brothers record.

  • apparently Beth is now a music teacher in NYC. I hope she does some shows sometime... I would love to see her live (the first ST! CD is one of my fvorites of all time!!)

  • Agreed! I have this CD, and her sound is really good! I love this song quite a bit, myself.

  • An amazing song from a perfect album. Sadly it's not better known.
