I dunno about this....I went and watched 3 other videos he has out there. He's good at this one style...no triplet grooves anywhere...no latin stuff...no swing stuff, not even a shuffle[which I'm sure would be as "round" as a rectangle] that I could find. I see LOTS of guys that do this 16 note stuff with fast 16's on the double kick pedal ALL THE TIME. Everywhere...some are only 15 years old...They could never do anything but a loud rock/metal gig...which is SO LIMITED.
For those who don't seem to realize...we do work in the 'entertainment' field of live music. If you're into drummers that sit there on stage and only play the parts with 'perfect' hand technique, you can always stay at home, close your eyes, listen to the disc and get that aspect of it. Great job Gregg. Keep up the hard work.
You gotta be kidding me. THIS is what drumming has been reduced to? Besides the fact that he's all elbows and shows no hand technique, all he can do is the same stick trick and the same tempo and dynamic. I wonder how many times a year he breaks the cymbal on his right side because he doesn't know how to play them. Awful. Who's his rich uncle anyway??
I was at this show and saw it live.. There are no words to describe this talent, if i had to sum it up i would say...raw talent, absolute showman, underrated..
