@TheHellGlow Season 6 sucked gigantic monkey balls. The only, only, half decent thing was the final 2 seconds of the final episode. Everything before that was just trash. Especially what they did to Quinn. That's some serious fucking bullshit. Quinn should be the third most important character in the whole series, I hope that was just a small diversion to set him up for season 7. Go Quinn! Dexter and Deb can both die while 69ing each other and they choke on each other's cocks.

Rita's death also seems to be a sort of moralizing on the writer's part, as if to say, "it's not okay to be a serial killer." Well, we knew that. After asking us to sympathize with a serial killer for four seasons, their attempt to "show their viewers" that this isn't an acceptable lifestyle by punishing the main character is rather lame.
The writers really fucked up when they did this. So incredibly disrespectful to the viewers who have watched Dexter's evolution as a person to have his wife killed, have him loose his kids, and then to have this bimbo Julia Stiles come in to replace Rita. Totally obnoxious. Hopefully they will fix these errors in season six and have him reconnect with what remains of his family. Otherwise, I think the show is screwed.

This reminds me of my mother. She was institutionalized with an uncommon illness called DID (multiple personalities). She tried killing me once, as one of her "alters," and successfully kidnapped me. She swore to break the chain of her family (father was a rapist and killed my uncle, and she went down the same path after being raped repeatedly), but when she finally left to "protect me," someone else came along and raped me. When she found out, she said "it was like it had to happen."
Dexter doesn't know true feelings though. You have to understand he used Rita as a cover to protect himself and his addiction. He is a serial killer first. Its just how he is and what the whole show is about. Season 5 on the other hand, he begins to have somewhat of an idea what feelings are.
The most mind-blowing and devastating season finale, EVER! I did not see that coming in the slightest. I didn't cry the first time I saw it, but I did other times. That repeated scene of three-year old Dexter crying kills me.

I unfortunately knew the spoiler before seeing any of the 4th season. So when in the first episode of the season Trinity killed his first victim I got Physically ill. Because I knew that Rita was going to get the same fate. RIP Rita :(
I was shocked, when I saw the ending. Knowing from the first episode that the victim was aware till the end (and very graphic imagery), I can't imagine how it was for Rita in her last moments. Dexter seems to ignore his father advices in the last seasons.

@tessaxr Rita was the most supportive and "natural" character I've seen in a TV show, the only time I've felt as bad with a TV show is when Daniel Jackson from SG-1 died, a hugely moral person, but Rita dying was so... I think one of the biggest things was that she was neverendingly patient with flaws or situations Dexter had that could have been handled better...
She was so well-developed, even though I know she was going to die before watching this it still hit me hard.

how can you sit here and say your glad Rita died and your happy shes gone. If your a real DEXTER fan you would realise what Rita means to Dexter. She was his piece of sanity. there is so much meaning behind these storylines and you dumb fucks are too blind to see. the best Show/series/finale ive ever seen. RIP RITA!!!

Shocking as it was,I was kinda glad to see Rita die.Julie Benz is superhot,but they turned Rita into a nagging housewife which got pretty grating.Anyways,it's twist like these which makes it my favorite drama on cable.

I unfortunately knew the spoiler before seeing any of the 4th season. So when in the first episode of the season Trinity killed his first victim I got Physically ill. Because I knew that Rita was going to get the same fate. RIP Rita :(

I was shocked, when I saw the ending. Knowing from the first episode that the victim was aware till the end (and very graphic imagery), I can't imagine how it was for Rita in her last moments. Dexter seems to ignore his father advices in the last seasons.

One of the roughest endings in a TV series ever! I never felt so sad when a character died... probably because it's not just Rita, but a part of Dexter that dies D: His one chance for normalcy, for happiness- all gone... I just gaped at the television when I saw this... Rita!!!!! NOOOOO!!!!!!

I don't think Trinity killed Rita, I think it was someone else...It just doesn't make sense when following the time-line of events, when did Trinity even have the time to find Rita and kill her?

@ZaWarudo55 hey i just finished season 4, and i think it was elliot who killed her. he learned about the bathtub killings when he went to get cody from dexter's shed, after all they implied that cody saw something in the shed i think...and then elliot replicated it so it seemed like trinity did it

the part that got me the most is that the song they play right before he finds Rita is the one you hear whenever Dexter is happy...
although Rita was kinda annoying, I was sad at the way she went, with the baby sitting there and all...
