  • Great video. Have a problem with screw drive on Nikon 85mm 1.8D. The lens focuses manually, but has stoppped autofocusing. I can see the drive screw/gear has sunk into the lense about 4mm so the camera drive shaft/tooth isn't engaging. Don't know if its fixable myself. Any tips appreciated

  • Thank you for this video .. it really help me..

  • Hello guys! I have a question ,if you can help me please. I have a nikon 55 200 VR,that makes a strange noise right after i take a shoot,or when i turn on the camera. It makes three clicks, and you can see it thru the viewfinder, those three little movements...like if,the lens moves, three little times..It is usable,i can take photos, but is very anoying. And if you shake it in your hand, you can definetly hear that something inside is not on its place. What can i do??Greetings from Italy. Please help

  • Awesome work man, could you please advise me where to get nikon spares from in UK ?? I am after Rear Bayonet for Nikon AF-S DX 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR. THX !

  • hi

i didd it also thanks to tjis tutorial.

But the lead cable is cut, whatdoes this ground wire do, what is it for there?

Yozu say it will work without that but why is it there then?

  • Hi there,

Please could you tell me what the wire attached to the bayonet is for (1:14) ?

Today I had to replace my bayonet on my 18-105mm kit lens which cracked after a drop.

but this wire pulled off, although the lens appears to be working perfect.

    Many many thanks!

  • @LocksmithNI It is the ground wire. It will technically still work without it being attached. Let us know if you have any questions.

    Thank you!

  • I cracked my bayonet mount dropping my camera on concrete and figured I was out a lens. a $10 part and 10 minutes of assembly later, it's good as new! Thanks!

  • Hi ProCameraRepair! I dropped my Nikon 70-300 ...yeah I know is a heavy lens but lucky looks like still works... I can zoom auto focus ..... is just a little issue when you shoot after an autofocus the something shakes inside the lens.. I dont remember seen that before. Is usable but that extra flicking is kind of annoying... any possible repair for this ? thank you in advance.

  • @TheKarimSupreme Hello, We do provide free estimates. Any declines estimate will only owe return shipping.

Is your lens VR? It sounds like maybe the VR mechanism is out of alignment.

We look forward to hearing from you soon! Thank you for the consideration.

    Best regards,

    Sebastian

  • @ProCameraRepair.. Thank you guys!

  • Another successful story here. It took me about 1 hour and 20 minutes to follow and complete the 3 minutes video but it worked. The only trouble I had was that the lead cable was almost cut because I had to pull it too much in order to unscrew and screw. I didn´t finish screwing back again because I saw the cable was about to cut. However, I mounted everything back again and perfect! The lens is working as new! Thanks ProCameraRepair for sending me the bayonet mount and for posting this video!

  • I was just successful, thank you. Ordering the part from Nikon in California was actually cheapest for me but took almost 3 weeks (to Michigan) and their customer support was rude and unresponsive. Never again ...

  • any video about the diaphragm dismount?

  • Thanks for the tutorial! I took the plastic ring mount off of a spare 18-55 non-VR lens my brother gave me (I gave him my 18-55 VR lens) and swapped it with my 18-105mm lens. It works perfectly now! Too bad there isn't a metal replacement available.

  • Sweet,I might be getting a used Nikon with a lens with a busted mount,I just added this to my favorites seeing it actually done as opposed to pictures makes the procedure a little bit easier to do,thanks!

  • If the lead cable was off by accident can I repair it ?? I see where is the conection but do I have to weld that part?? or what can I do .??

  • @automataFrank You will have to further disassemble the lens and solder back the ground wire. Good luck with the procedure.

  • @ProCameraRepair What does the lead wire do? It was cut when I was screwing it to the bayonet mount I brought from you. I assembled everything back without the lead wire and it still works.

  • I have a Nikon 18-105 and the plastic mount sheered off. Any diagrams available and where can I order the replacement parts?

    Thanks

  • @truthfinder200 Unfortunately, at this time, I don't have any sort of diagram or schematic.

You can purchase the part here on the link listed in comments.

  • @truthfinder200

I got mine on ebay for a few pounds

  • @truthfinder200

    The bayonet that is

  • thanks dude work a treat

  • Great job. I saved a $400 lens with just the $21 bayonet part and this tutorial. (I lost a silver screw, 1 of the 5 ring screws) but it seems to still work great with 4 :)

    Thanks again.

  • Thanks! $10 part and saved $150 (either way to repair at Nikon or replace on e-Bay)

Not quite so easy or fast & you need #000 (1.59 mm) Phillips Head but worth the try.

Got lucky & it worked for me. Thank you again for the post.

  • thanks mate that was a big help

  • Wow thank you!

  • @UrBelovedScapegoat You're welcome

  • What song is this?

  • @gcon92 "The Prodigy - Stand up"

    This song came from "Kick-Ass"
