  • whats the song at 0:57

  • 0:10 FUCKING retard is that a karate match xD

  • Moshing isn't about getting hurt or injuring others. Sure, you get in there thinking it's possible that you'll get hurt, but it shouldn't be a sure thing. If I see a dude swinging his fists and kicking people, that guy get's nothing but disrespect from me, and possibly a beating.

Moshing is about everyone letting loose to the music they love with people they could consider brothers. No one has to be INJURED and no one has to DIE, that's fucking STUPID.

Keep the violence for the oppressors.

  • @Zementkopf1 straight up brother.

  • Funny....I don't remember MTV broadcasting in MONO BACK IN THE 90s!

  • Now there's hardcore dancing. It's more violent moshing. So much better.

  • All well and good... but can you do the MILANO MOSH ???

  • Do another Gap Ad Garfield, you fucking humorless clown. LOL

  • whats the name of the song

  • there were mosh pits in the 70's?

  • @Cinemysteria your an idiot. were do you think hardcore dancing came from. most are not emo because emo is dead. hardcore dancing came from doing same shit as hardcore dancing but instead hit people. like hardcore shows in new york in 90s, look those videos up.

  • @Cinemystera That is such an ignorant comment haha.

  • Fucken hell....REALLY? I may be fat, engaged with a mortgage...you ALL SUCK!!!!

The mosh pits of MY DAY with SEPULTURA (YES Max Cavalera) and then SOULFLY, FEAR FACTORY, Rage against the machine, etc were MADNESS. Even SPINESHANK came along to fuck my shit up...

Keep drinking titty milk girls,I used to have ringing in my ears and cuts that bled for DAYS!!!! I would be jumpy and have my elbows ready for days after a mosh....I still can't really hear from my left ear!!!!! Mmmmm...elbow connect!

  • @greg313662 does that make you feel special? does that make you feel envious?

  • @Red1676 Errr...not really feeling envious. I saw a Rollins spoken word tour and realized that he grew up.

So not really feeling special as such, just satisfied that I can really recall that "my day" was rougher and raw.

  • @greg313662 ya but thats because most the people back then were not into straightening their hair or wearing tight jeans lol. i just dont care anymore though because now days the ones go in there trying to be rougher are only looking for fights, it pisses me off haha

  • what the fuck....usa pits are fucking retarded they just kick out at each other and jump about kicking avoiding any phisical contact...: \

come to england where you fucking slam into people and mosh like a pussy bitch

  • @AngelsGateband but push moshing is for fags. hate mosh bitch!

  • @Red1676 Compelling argument, you fucking clod.

  • Do not try this at home.

  • it's like a big violent friendly fist fight. some dude might accidentally kick or punch you in the head but if you fall down that same dude and others around will immediately pick your ass up off the floor. except for in onterrible. people get all mad when you're crushed up against their back and will turn around and try to start a fight with you.

  • @maryjmayhem see that's what people don't get. I did exactly what you said, knocked a guy around a bit, saw em' hit the deck and picked him up and kept going, no one's out to harm another with malicious intent, just venting is all. PAX AUT BELLUM

  • gov films about the evils of moshing? oO

    that's so...soviet union style! xD

  • Everyone is expected to be too well behaved in everyday life. It's better to go in a mosh pit where everyone's up for it than start a stupid fight. Then we can all go back to being the happy, non violent robots society needs us to be! Glad girls get in on the fun these days!

  • What was the song around :06-:15? The one where the dude says "GET UP!".

  • Back in the 80's we used to call it slamming. I don't think I heard the term moshing until the early 90s.

  • If you wanna see kids going wild at a gig watch the footage of minor threat gigs.It was about feeing then rather than showing off. Throwing your arms and legs about in an empty circle does not impress me one bit.

  • i once moshed WITHOUT MILK

  • @nigrobat Holy fuck

  • I hate the term "hardcore dancing", considering you never get it at proper hardcore band gigs.

  • That kicking stuff goes against the spirit of moshing, it's for cowards.

  • If you think moshing was more "badass" in the past or is taken over by emo kids then you're obviously going to the wrong gigs.

  • everything changes. including how people dance at hardcore shows. get over it and stop crying, or take over the pit with your friends and make your own thing. i swear old people are just as lame as trendy little kids. i lived through both eras and enjoy it all

  • moshing used to be cool. now it fucking sucks. some kid windmilled me in the face at one of my gigs and i threw his ass across the pit

  • looks like a party...

  • @lukeisonfire that song is "windows" by snapcase, from the "steps" ep

  • I used to enjoy moshing back in the '90s but it kind of lost it's fun when I went to a show one time around 2001 and saw these little fat kids doing the air punches and kicks by themselves. That was the end of it for me.

  • The people who punch and kick while moshing aren't moshing, they're "hardcore dancing".. It looks stupid and ruins the pit, which is why if you hardcore dance, you're putting a bull's eye on your back, because it is grounds for getting physically harmed..

  • I remember playing in a band in 81. We were invited to play at a suburban party with kids just into their teens and a bit older and not punks at all. As soon as we started I just jumped up and into the crowd. Emptied the room in seconds. That was a most successful outcome. Poor kids.

  • What is the song at .59?? Its too good I need to know

  • there's a fine line between artistic and autistic

  • what is the song playing in the background?

  • The minute you start throwing kicks, elbows and fists is the moment you become a lame piece of shit who deserves a major beat down. I go to shows to watch bands and hear music, not to have some dipshit kick me in the back of the head. Stop acting like a psychotic two-year-old and try actually listening to the music sometime. Pogoing's the greatest; a whole crowd bouncing around as one, in time to the music. Anyone who kicks or punches someone should get stomped, hard.

  • @ifutureman fuck you pussy take the training wheels off and live a little. Nobody listens to Agnostic Front while picking out curtains

  • @dynamitedigums typical stupid response from a moron. You sound like the type of guy who thinks getting or giving a broken arm or nose makes you cool. You want to get in fights, try kickboxing or something. Who the fuck do you think you are, running around like some stupid kid throwing a tantrum while people around you are trying to watch the band they paid to see? You say take off the training wheels? You're the one who needs to grow the fuck up.

  • yeah, the whole point is there are no

  • Fucking idiots, that Asian kid talking about hurting people in the pit, If I wanted to hurt someone I'd punch them in the face, THATS NOT MOSHING

  • Too many guys go into a pit thinking they're supposed to be proving themselves. It's only an outlet to a minority now, most just see it as a way to show how tough they are. They must be insecure.

  • In my opinion moshing is pushing each other and tugging each other and stuff, and if someone falls over people help them up. In good moshpits there's a sense of comunity. It's people trying to have fun not trying to hurt each other.

If you want to fight people you should walk through a rough neibourhood dressed in drag or something, but don't do it at a fucking gig.

  • Yeah the good old days of moshing! The 90's LIVES!!

  • Nobody moshes anymore, it's just dumbass hardcore "dancing" bullshit

  • @Bunglerable Agree 100%. The spirit of rock and the (I don't give a fuck aggressive self expression) is unfortunately DEAD. :( Permanently more like.

  • what programs this from?

  • Moshing, as it's portrayed here, has fuck all to do with music. Music is what I love, not all this adolescent macho crap. I've been at gigs where I'm trying to enjoy (and dance to) music by artists that I love, and keep getting knocked or pushed around by meat-headed assholes who are not there to listen to the music. It's just fucking annoying, and you generally get over it when you're about 25 and start thinking "Man, I acted like a dick at gigs back then".

  • moshing shouldnt be about getting hurt or hurting someone else

  • What song is being played that has "BUSHWACKER!!!!" in it? it's a cool music

  • I only hate when i go to shows or concerts, there's a big empty area, just for the pit, everyone's suddenly to "cool" to dance or mosh.

  • @TheHypnotoad15 Yeah, theres a small local hardcore scene where I'm from in CT. 90% of the kids at the shows just fucking stand there bobbing their heads though.

  • The girl saying "I got kicked in the face, I got kicked in the ribs, it was awesome!" seems like it should be a great line from a moshing parody, but it was in total seriousness...that's just kind of sad. You just know she works at a Wal-Mart or something like that now and loathes this clip...

  • "art"

  • anyone else notice how henry kinda laughs when he says "like it's a sport" at 0:51 In all honesty to look at moshing as an art is pretty demeaning, at a gig people should just be expressing their energy and listening to the music I hate going to gigs where there's intense moshing coz hell I don't want to be hurt I want to listen to some sweet ass music, why dress it up isn't it good enough anymore :\

  • that guy gets props for the merauder shirt

  • There's only two rules in moshing, always pick up anyone who's fallen, and never take anything personally.

  • no feeling better than going into pit for me. im 19 and 140 pounds and 5'5 so i get roughed up a bit. but i go in every show and if i fall, some body is always there to pick me up. it looks uncivilized but in reality, everybody is cool as hell with each other.

  • just me or that girl in the 1:07 is like tom araya with boobs

  • March Of Skin Heads

  • in mosh pits I've been punched in the face, my glasses cutting into my nose, kicked in the shins full force by steel toed boots, tripped, elbowed in the jaw, etc etc. but that was years ago and i gotta say it was some of the best times ive ever had in all my 24 years of living. the energy, the adrenaline; getting your ass kicked can be a good boost of character

  • The real Slam/pogo/skank used to be real energetic and raw.

It is rubbish to me that thing they do at those Slipknot, cheese metal shows with their tough guy stance.

Real agression is about the mutual feeling and rowdiness. Not tryin to be a milker bully bear.

  • anyone else think that the kid on 0:09 looks freakin hilarious?

  • I love moshin! Or pogoing or whatever. Its the best kind of 'dancing' cos you can just go loose and nuts and not care about what anyone else around you is thinking about you, which all other dance forms are about really. I like moshing to any kind of rowdy music! x

  • I'm not a big hardcore-fan but I went to a show the other day and the music was really bad ass, but I couldn't mosh because those guys were 2-stepping, windmilling, beatdowning and how the fuck are all those other moves called the whole time and they laughed at you if you just wanted to pogo a bit and rock out!

It's just, either you learn how to 'dance' properly or you get kicked and have to mind your back every fucking breakdown, in my opinion, that's very, very sad.

  • i guess the whole real point of it is that are no ends, only beginnings

  • slam dancings the shit hardcore dancing sux dick go out side and fight you losers

  • @KennyMassey I bet you weren't around for the real hardcore scene

  • @gsh73la that really depends what u call real nowadays hardcore is the garbage with breakdowns and 2-steps and stuff the old stuff is just punk rock to me which i am around for now and i am very proud of the scene that im in and have helped build!

  • Moshing is dumb. Why change a scene where rejects go to find a sense of belonging into a place where people get hurt, trying to listen to and enjoy the music which made such a difference to them?

  • moshin is fun but i hate assholes who mosh to everything! u cant mosh to circa survive....

  • Moshing is just another way for teens to take their misplaced anger and then misplace it again on someone else; go to the fucking gym, pick up an instrument, or meditate or something or go take karate if you have that much fucked up aggression in you . you can still go to a show and mosh and not have to fucking clobber someone.

  • guy at 5 seconds is a ninja haha

my two cents about moshing is that its lame. I don't have a problem with people going to a show and rocking out. but it's gotten to the point where there are six to seven loser at every show with no life who go to ruin the night for everyone else. they go, and the fuck up the energy by being a dick and kicking or pushing or punching someone too hard and its too dark to see who did it to retaliate, so that person just does the same thing. it ruins the night.

  • @koolmaaan This is exactly how I feel man, at alot of shows I've been to where a guy tried to do shit like they've got pushed out of the pit. I've been picked up after falling over and everybody looks out for eachother, I don't see the point in all the kicking and punching, if you're going to jump around and shit atleast do it in a certain way.

  • personally, I like to see a band play, not spend the whole show looking at all the other assholes in the crowd; something about getting kicked in the head makes me want to beat the fuck out of somebody, not talk about how "awesome" it was

  • Seems, of all these people only Henry Rollins knows the difference between high energy and aggression.

  • what song is playing at 0:59 to the end

  • That kid's prediction was a little off... instead of government films about "the evils of moshing," the cool kids all figured out that moshing was fucking stupid and lame.

  • who's the dick that call the modern shitmosh an art form?????!!!! dude,u've got issues.

  • i love all moshing !!!!!!!!!

  • I like skanking and slam dancing, but that windmill BS is gay.

  • Windmilling is so damn annoying...

  • what documentary is this from?

  • Real moshing is better than anything. That bull shit where people do kicks, skank and do the windmill fucking sucks. Moshing is not a form of dancing, it has no moves. To me, moshing means doing to pogo but with some horizontal movement.

  • @JimmyDFFDBorneo "that bullshit" like in this video?

get out of here what are you some nu-metal dork-on? "with some horizontal movement" the fuck does this even mean?

  • @xBillyTheKidx

That means trashing left and right and not jumping up and down. I prefer the pogo, over slam dancing.

  • @JimmyDFFDBorneo I agree that windmilling and all that emocore fag dancing is lame as hell. But dude, skanking to some fuckin good ska-punk is way too much fun.

  • @JimmyDFFDBorneo for me, moshing, looking in, looks like some scary deathwish shit. but when you're in the pit, even it it's not a fuckin hardcore, stabbing pit, just jsut in a crowd of people, all releasing the angel from work, home, school, girlfriends, whatever, it's a beautiful thing and gives me the energy to get back up and go at it again. but seriously, what the fuck is that windmill thing? i've seen retards fight- or do that sort of thing- better. IMO, best ones are tight pits.

  • @mcxznbv Agreed, tight pits ARE the best! But that stupid hardcore dancing shit doesn't scare me, it just seems pointless since pogo pits are FAR more fun! Real moshing shouldn't be a style of dance. That's the kind of stuff the original punks were rebelling against!

  • @JimmyDFFDBorneo you, my friend, now have the right to kick the shit out of me. fucking awesome. i was expecting a fucklot of replies from BOTDF and BMTH fans like "HEY FAG STFU ILL KILL U IN A REEL PIT D00D".

  • @JimmyDFFDBorneo i agree but skanking is not moshing it is not a form of moshing and never intended itself to be its its own seperate dance

  • Moshing, is a beautiful thing. But the ones who hXc dance, thats another story.....

  • @MrStrongStyle go listen to korn and bedroom mosh you fuckin geek

  • I only have one 1 inch long scar above my eyebrow from moshing, and I love it. I'm afraid of getting broken bones tho

  • as long as nobody gets hurt that fine line between aggression and violence.......!!!!!!peace thrash when it works right it feels great there should be a large crowd open holes in the pit suck,

  • Dukkha the first noble truth of buddhism; life is suffering.

the pit expresses this, and when you accept that suffering is inevitable, you realize you are ok with it. You seek to change it (unity picking ppl up etc..) without actually trying, and for that one moment at every good show, you are enlightened.

  • Best Mosh i have ever seen was at a Misfits/Gwar show and these 2-98 lbs chiks start this arm in arm swinging windmill thing i guess feeling the groove of the music, and hit this trench coat clad skinheaded dude like in the back.. guessing this was a major blow to his manhood he turns around and decks one of the chiks in the face like BAMMMM, she falls back some a few steps wipes the blood gushing from her nose and mouth and attacks this dude with her friend beating his ass. Good stuff

  • Real fucking low-life idiots.

  • @CleverDjembe and you're a real arrogant asshole that doesn't know how to live

  • @numnutth

You always have a comeback, cos you're used to being called things.

A healthy person has no need to be violent toward other people. Do you go to the gym to let out your aggression? I do.

  • @CleverDjembe i don't see what the gym has to do with this. it's a radical form of having fun by people who enjoy the activity. i would call feelings towards assholes like yourself "aggression" but what happens in a mosh pit is more like positive aggression. let's relate it to something similar that society looks highly upon, football. what is football to the outside observer? a bunch of dudes tackling each other. why do people play football? because it's fun to them, hence positive aggression.

  • @CleverDjembe but conformists like yourself probably don't look at football players as "real fucking low-life idiots." so why is moshing so different to you? i know, because you represent the ignorant public.

  • Looks brutal, but i know that at hardcore (the "birthplace" of this kind of moshing), metal and punkrock concerts no one really wants to hurt anyone around critically while moshing or making party. That's the job of those gangsta guys with their guns and knives or ravers with their drugfilled heads. If someone is passing out or get's hit hard, causing him to break down, everyone around him will stop and help bringing him to the ambulance. On the streets you will rarely experience that behaviour.

  • Kids these days think hardcore shows are kickboxing free-for-alls. I had to punch a guy for doing just that and he looks at me all surprised. All this deathcore shit is just a backdrop for posing and violence - it's nothing to do with music.

  • I was moshing at some club in Buffalo, and wiped out this guy. I went to go sit down and rest, and he came over towards me. I thought he was looking to start some shit, and all my friends crowed around him... then he comes up and goes "man, that was GREAT! These other guys weren't hitting hard, but you just fucking knocked me on my ass!"

I laughed and promised to knock the shit out of him any time he wanted.

Ah, the good old days before I got old.....

  • At the end of the day, Everyone in the pit becomes your best friend no matter what happens. If someone is on the ground, they pick you back up only to knock you down again. It is fucking amazing. Being in the pits is not only a way of losing yourself physically but also mentally.

  • The kicking is stupid... moshing in metal concerts usually don't have kicking.

  • i agree

  • Moshing was way more badass in the 80's and 90's. Today is a bunch of emo fucks throwing stupid kicks around trying not get hurt. Man, even much more girls where in them back then. Btw, Henry Rollins rules!

  • @Stampit88 true

  • @Stampit88 what pussy ass shows are you going to ?
