My Yaris was under $14k and gets >40 mpg. One tank I went 503 miles on 10.1 gallons of gas! 50k miles and never been to the dealer for anything. Just oil, gas, and front tires so far. The fit has a tiny fuel tank, costs a lot, and harsh ride. I wasn't biased, I did research and bought the best car for the $.
@sohcfit Just so you know, I got these numbers and specs from Honda and Toyota's Canadian websites 2.5 years ago so I'm not taking any responsibility for these numbers and specs being accurate today.
The pick of the bunch is a 1.5 manual Yaris in my opinion. A YRS. It has the electric windows, audio on the steering wheel, leather steering wheel, leather gear knob, and doesnt have the body kit, so its a lighter yaris, with all the options you want. And the 1.5 manual, when its producing max power, (about 40,000Kms on the clock) goes really well. As for reliability, they have a clean record. I have owned one from new, not one problem with it, not a single thing.
@alexkvaskov But aren't they making an FT-86 or something? supposed to be like a sports car. It's a concept at the moment but it looks headed for production.
First off, toyota has always quoted around 2-3 mpg higher than their cars actually get. We get 38mpg in our fit. and what country were those prices from? we bought our Fit Sport for $16k, and the non sport was cheaper at $15k not $21k.
the 2009 yaris now has standard side curtain airbags even on the base model. and i would say the yaris is reliable, after all, it is a toyota. and its not as angular as the fit.
sedan and the hatch yaris are completely differrent. no.1 aero dynamics, the sedan is just a bloody box on wheels and has no defined shape whilst the hatchbak is slanted. no.2 the weight, hatch yaris t sport weighs less than the sedan increases accelerelation n handling. no.3 sedan yaris is a peice of shit and hatch is way betta. lol.
Fit win!!!

The Yaris is better in reliability. Consumer report's most reliable vehicle- only 2 in 100 have problems.

honda fit is much nicer, toyota is crap.
jaffacake1578 2 years ago
@jaffacake1578 not all of toyota's models suck, but they have gotten boring in the past 10 years - no more celica, no more supra..

ABS and EBD shouldn't be considered safety features, they are very important to a vehicles track performance.
LexusFman 2 years ago
are you fcking kidding me?
alexkvaskov 2 years ago
no im not. they are.
LexusFman 2 years ago
omg dude, abs and ebd contribute pretty much nothing to a vehicle's track performance, esc does somewhat

quite a few yaris owners are knocking down close to 50mpg combined
yaris is faster
crappyMCcrapperson 3 years ago
Yaris is faster? Actually, they are about the same. 50 mpg in a Yaris? I don't think so
alexkvaskov 3 years ago
yaris is a tad faster, since it's 200lbs lighter
and it doesn't matter what you think about mpg, do some research
crappyMCcrapperson 3 years ago
I have never heard of a Yaris getting 50 mpg
Even driving very conservatively, I don't think that's possible
alexkvaskov 3 years ago
Wow, this seems to be an uneducated comment. Both the Yaris and the Fit can achieve 50 mpg. I've gotten 51 mpg before. I average about 42 mpg.
AFIAK, the NCP91/93 has a quicker 0-60 time than the GD3, according to every car magazine I read.
uwouldntguessthis 2 years ago
50mpg? hypermilers can do that, but that's too boring for the average driver
i don't think the 28-29/34-36 mpg yaris and fit can get as much as 14 mpg higher
