Would you know how to fix a video? After I updated Im not able to watch any videos off any sites except youtube. I always get this blue colored Lego looking shape with a question mark inside.
help, please. where do i post a question about the new android 4.0 that i was directed to download to my xoom on 1/18/12. i having troubles with the xoom screen going dark when i have my xoom connected via hdmi cable to a tv monitor. for example if i activate an icon, from a web site, for enlarging the web site video, the xoom screen goes black as well as the tv monitor. i do however continue to hear audio.
Ice Cream Sandwich has absolutely messed up my xoom. My browser locks up intermitantly and I have to reboot the tablet to get the browser to clear from the screen. It looks like Hello Kitty pucked on the whole thing. So far all its done is make me want Honeycomb back in a big way. I never had these problems with honeycomb. The final release sucks bad.
I understand this is the unofficial ice cream sandwich OS but can we expect the official release to have the same performance increase? just wondering wether i should manualy update via xda or wait for the 4.0 conversion :P
@Scourgy21 Chances are the performance increase will stay, but as soon as the XDA community gets some official sources (includes drivers and whatnot for the cameras) You will be seeing some really well done ROMS. It's up to you, I personally use it as a daily driver (but it has some deep sleep issues sometimes which drains your battery pretty bad when the screen is off). Up to you.
I was hoping ICS would speed up my xoom, It always had solid hardware but honeycomb always felt chugging at times. Now I cant wait for the official update but good work guys.
@imafan We have had no issues with the screen, or the devices in general, since purchasing the Xoom when they first came out. I'm personally really impressed with the build quality of the device. The screen seemed lacking in Honeycomb, but believe me or not, The quality seems a lot better since upgrading to ICS
@G009131337 battery life isn't fantastic at the moment, although I haven't calibrated the battery yet... definitely not $450! I personally would try to buy one used or refurbished and save yourself tthe money. Our wifi is refurbished and works 100%.
I just bought one after boxing day sales Brand New for $299 its running out QUICK! Why buy refurbished, not like its going to be any cheaper than $299 and this is 1year warranty, refurbish only has 4 to 6 mths warranty.
@G009131337 Hello, I live in Sydney and just bought it after boxing day sales for an AMAZING price just 299 for the wifi 32gb. If you've near then you should buy one.
@MrKennedy500 it actually closes them, I'll be putting up another video soon detailing more on the multitasking and a few other things left in the comments
Galaxy Tab 10.1 here but I'm interested in the performance increase on the Tegra 2. For your next video can you show how well streaming on say.. HBO GO website is? It was horrible on my 10.1.. the software decoding was horrible.. curious if ICS helps this issue at all.
@Mildern the current builds that are available for the Wifi and 3G currently aren't decoding video correctly as the HD in the Youtube application and video streaming on through the browser does not function as smooth as it could. It's likely that these things are not optimized for the Dual Core Tegra as of yet (some tegra games are reportedly having issues as well). Within the next month we'll probably start to see some real spot-on development
how smooth is the auto rotation, and scrolling the home screen in portrait, those areas where really laggy in honeycomb and this was blamed on nvidia tegra2 hardware limitations. I wonder if ICS was able to fix this issues
@bigbrovar Can you think of some other things you would like to see? I plan on putting together another video and would like some ideas as to what you would like to see that has changed
@omacranger well besides the auto rotation animation and the home screen scroll in portrait mode. Maybe the performance of the galaxy (loaded with pictures) can't really think of much else. Thanks for doing this btw. Although a galaxy tab 8.9 user I am quite kin to see how ics performs on tegra2
No offence, but the fucking menu button is ugly as shit.

Is 90% = to Honeycomb :S
Gatech0 1 month ago
@Gatech0 Pretty much, the layout and most of the things are the exact same if not very similar. The system is just very fast compared to Honeycomb.

is this an update? where can I find it?

@22s22a It's a development build, there are currently many things broken. It's only recommended for people who are familiar with flashing.

hi, thank you for review. have you maybe tried connecting xoom via HDMI to TV set? on honeycomb, sound quality is disappointing via HDMI port.

@pimpdady2 ICS is honeycomb just more refined and it actually works more than it crashes so what's your issue?
Trillville43 2 months ago
do u have to update to ICS or can i just stick with honeycomb? honeycomb has more eye candy and seems more natural. ics idk.. doesnt look right

@WswingSwag You can stick with Honeycomb, but the ICS update really enhances the performance on the device.

@WswingSwag I agree. When you're trying to make it work with both handheld devices and tablets at the same time, you loose something...
