Im sick of people talking shit about the cobalt ss 2.4/g5 gt. Yes their are better cars out there but they are very good fun cars, Go and drive one before you talk shit, My last few cars were a 2005 Chrysler crossfire, and a BMW 325ci convertible, and for the price, features, and mpg the cobalt is really a great deal and should be given more credit than it is. Not to mention, I've had more fun in my Cobalt 2.4 than i ever did in the Crossfire or the BMW
@bmw330izhp And the features it has! I bought mine for $8,900 about 6 months ago, its a 2007 Cobalt SS 2.4 auto, and had about 45,000 miles on it. It was in perfect condition and has, leather interior, heat seats, 6 disk cd changer, ipod adapter, onstar, XM satellite radio, and a stock Pioneer sound system with a 10 inch sub in the trunk. And driving the speed limit can get up to 40 MPG. Cobalt SS 2.4/G5 GT are good cars, and for the price, cant be beat
@bmw330izhp i have a g5 gt, all my buddies who get in my car are shocked at how quick it. they may seem like a cheap car, but they are etremely fun cars to drive
I'd like to know who the dumbass was that designed such a cheap looking instrument cluster. Come on speedo, tach and fuel !! Why not just get rid of the gas gauge !! Ha! HA! G5 was suppose to take on the japanese but FAIL once again.
155 on the 2.2 and 171 on the 2.4 shits on all the douches with their civics and accords (obv not the v6). I can pull 40mpg doing the speed limit too. not the best car in the world but there is nothing wrong with it either. ntm i got a steal on it straight off the lot, one of my favorite cars in the price range.
Pontiac sucks at engineering. I don't think honda is the best either, but claiming 171 horsepower from a 2.4 is amazing when there's something way better out there is stupid.
Interior is actually much more visually appealing then almost all the econoboxes' class I've been in, but I'd be an overstatement to say it is high quality.
i reccomend you save your money driving a car like this slow is the way to drive it. MPG is great except when you drive like that, go buy a mustang or g8 your wasting your money imo
Contrary to popular belief, not everyone wants a mustang. Personally I find the choice horrid. If I was solely interested in going fast, then I would have made a much different choice in vehicle. For an econo-box price range, this car combines decent power, gas mileage, amenities, ride quality, and style. It's not just about "going fast".
@BigEMU1 dont worry about that dumbass anyways, every idiot thinks a mustang is the be all and end all... Truth is a stock 2.4L will smoke a v6mustang anyday let alone a modded 2.4 nice car BTW man :)! I own a 2.4SS ZZP Turbocharged 5spd and I love it! its fun whiping the grin off LSJ drivers when you destroy them at the lights :)
@StevoElsupremo I definitely agree. If the 2.4L is completely bolted and tuned it can even keep pace/beat stock fourth gen V8 Mustangs. Dips this car well into the 14's, which is very impressive for an N/A 4 cycl. Prop on the ZZP kit... did you opt for the liquid cooling?
Really? What are you driving Pdottoreo07?" Anybody want to guess foreign?Nobody considers american cars for face value anymore,it's a shame.I took a civic & G5 for a test drive before buying. Honda offered minimal options, minimal dive. I'm not saying buying a G5 or Cobalt is premium money spent, but seriously what you spend for this car is well worth it.Support the country, you might just have a job later.Coming from a Canadian, it's bigger than just the U.S. Think before you buy.
its funny you talk shit about hondas when i make the same power with half the engine size......oh and by the way when my VTAAAAAK kicks in your american trash with the cool check engine light will get its shit packed......oh and and i almost forgot B series can run just as hard as K series you fuckin CHOAD!!!!
First- anything can run as hard as anything dumb fuck. B series < K series by a fucking truckload. You have to TC or SC a B series just to get near bolted K series power.
Second, N/A DEL SOL???? LOOOOOOL That's all I needed to hear. You just lost all credibility. Please drive your piece of shit foreign garbage over a bridge.
I'm sure you "raped" a supercharged ion or cobalt. Bone stock. Hahahaha kill yourself your entire car is one giant check engine light.
Any idea how many horses you gained with the mods? I bout a year-end 2008 SE in July and want to squeeze a few more horses out of the 2.2. Any suggestions for most bang for the buck mods?
should hit roughly 185-190 horsepower TO THE WHEELS and around 170ish wheel torque. There's no telling until I slap a tune on there and dyno it... I have injectors and a harness to swap in for my upcomming tune.
Band for the buck go for the downpipe/header. Our factory one is super restrictive. Look on ebay for the OBX, great price and perfect size for the 2.2l's. Go to g5club for more info
OMGZ11!!! you own a Ferrari??? I haven't seen one of those in ages... you must feel very privileged to be a part of those elite car owners. I see you must also own a mustang. VERY impressive selection of cars you have acquired. I bet it's hard to control that torque steer when your V-TAAAAK kicks in.
Get a clue idiot. I've never lost a civic.. new or old so unless you're turbo'd or running the k series motor swapped in a hatch you're not even worth my gas.
I'm running a CEL for lean condition from the intake, due to the lack of a tune.
The other CEL is from cat effeciency. Although there is a Magnaflow cat present in the downpipe, the O2 sensor still reads the code on/off because the cat sometimes doesn't meet standards that GM has set in the ECU. They are very high, it's tough not to trip it with ANY high flow cat.
My 2.2 with Magnaflow Full Exhaust / Injen / 2.4 Mani Swap / tune completely destroys Si's by about a car length and a half, im sure big emu's car would eat yours alive to, bet your car also has a Boeing 747 Airplane spoiler on the back doesnt it..
Garbage. Garbage. Garbage. Take your garbage ass wannabe "import" and take it to the dealership, and complain about the knocking in your engine. I eat alive Si's.. I wouldn't even see you in my rear view mirror it'd be vibrating to bad from my subs, i think the only thing i would see was a random light here and there, maybe your 4 ways cause your garbage engine blew.
i love this format dude. gettin on the interstate and doggin is somethin anybody can relate to. its a good way to give you an idea of how quick a car is on the gun. nice video, sweet ride. thats one pontiac id love to drive ;)
Check out Clear Image Automotive for a cat-back. They make this same setup using entirely t-304 stainless piping and Magnaflow componants (tip resonator and muffler). Magnaflow's own setup uses 400's series which can develop surface rust, looks shabby. You can find them as a supporting vendor over on G5club
For a header and DP check out ZZPerformance. They are making a newer stainless steel header.
No, but the stock dyno can range anywhere from 150-155whp, so I'm guessing somewhere just over the 170whp mark. Other 2.4's with a tune (which I don't have) hit around 181-186 and that's IS on a dyno.
Sound wise it made it slightly louder but I hardly noticed a difference between the upgrade when I just had the catback. Performance wise, I noticed a big difference opening the entire exhaust up... that DP is horribly restrictive. Keep in mind how well these cars respond to mods.
