And before you say it's not legal (it probably is), be sure you understand what service rules you are under, in some IUTs and in some cases in CNATRA, a Squadron CO can and will approve IP hops to record training. At least when I was a squadron CO (and a T-45C is better than a T-37, even an old tired T-2C is wink)
No it's not "legal". This student is being a fucking idiot. "Let's see what I can get away with without an instructor in the back." Trying to show everyone how "cool" he is. It's complacency and a failure to abide by simple rules that gets people killed. Not to mention the shitty rock music playing in the background. How unique.
almost 3 years ago.. you must have already been assigned, trained in your airframe, and possibly deployed by now, so you probably won't respond to this, but I must ask.... they let you take video in the cockpit during UPT??
@xFlyboyUSAFx because students will always do shit against the rules. And cockpit video on a military flight is actually prohibited, but people do it anyways,
@jjjazzycraig I haven't flown the mentor, but the T-6 is no slouch. I'm flying the T-38 now, and would have no complaints about going back the T-6 other than the fact that it's top speed is only 316 knots.
I'm a USAF T-6 IP and "NO!" this is NOT legal for a student to have a camera in the cockpit while solo.
And BTW, I'd give you a "F" on your cloverleaf because I'd bet my soul that you didn't even get close to 90 degrees off on each leaf.

What I mean by "legal" is, is it ok to set up a camera in the cockpit?
bjs030 2 months ago
Serious question... Is this legal by AETC standards? I'm headed to upt in a few months and I want to make a video similar to this.

I'm curious how you got the camera to stay so stable? Maybe you could tie it to the AOA gauge?

if I got caught with a camera in the cockpit in my squadron.... I would be gone!
