I'm brazilian, living in Brasília, Brazil. I'd like someone send me lyrics from the Dexter Wansel 1977 song "I think i'll stay home today", performed by Billy Paul. At this moment is my dear desire. I'll be very grateful and forgive my bad english.

@plzb4realokay IF YOU HEARD THAT REMIX ON "THE TOM JOYNER MORNING SHOW", THOSE MIXES ARE ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO GET, UNLESS YOU DO IT OLSKOOL STYLE AND RECORD IT STRAIGHT FROM THE RADIO WITH A CASSETTE, LIKE WE USED TO DO BACK IN THE DAY! Simon Ram presents The Bump ‘n’ Hustle show Every Tuesday 8pm -10pm Playing the best in Rare Grooves, Jazz funk, Soul, Latin vibes, RnB, Funky House with an added flavour of Old School Breakdance/Hip-Hop music thrown in for some old memories .....
Info....Started out as an Instrumental before Cynthia Biggs persuaded Dexter to use her words. She had been inspired by a Las Vegas show girl, who once on stage in her monologue, described love as "Sweet Pain". Terri Wells sings lead with the Jones Girls on backing. Features on the album "Philadelphia Uncovered", probably the best Philly compilation around, which includes Silk "I Can't Stop", Dee Dee Sharp Gamble "I Love You Anyway" & The O'jays "Lovin' You, among others.
I just heard the coldest remix yesterday on the radio. It was Rhianna 's "Love The way You Lie" with this track in the background. I was arguing with some co-workers because I asked them to tell me who the original was, and they couldn't. I told them to go back to dusty school!
I always loved the Loose Ends version of this tune, but this one sounds so much more organic and earthy in comparison. Could be my natural predisposition towards music from the 70's...but the musical arrangement and the vocals are downright intoxicating to listen to. I went on Amazon and bought everything from him that i could find. LOL
Dear Mr. Wansel and Victor- Absolutely wonderful track. Remember it so well from late 1970s-WBLS in New York, WDAS in Philadelphia. Makes me want to fall in love all over. God Bless.

@thegroove2000 Wow! Thank you for your wonderful comment. I agree that the percussion performance by my old friend, Miquel Fuentes", is arguably the best of any production/arrangement I've ever done.
@dgwansel "The Sweetest Pain" is one of my favorite tunes from your "Time is Slipping Away" album. Did you ever produce an extended longer version of the song?
I think I may have heard it when I was overseas, But anyway, it's one of my favorites as well as "I'll Never Forget (My Favorite Disco). I still hear a lot of your work on the radio (believe it or not). May your road continue to be smooth and easy and may peace and happiness be with you always.

I have been searching Itunes for this song and it wasn't there. This is one of my favorite songs. I have many good memories surrounding this song. Thanks for this song. God bless you.
OMGoodness! *running around in circles in my mind* I played this album till it melted when it first came out and looked for it for years after I lost it.

Hi Mr. Wansel! Now I can finally get that money I was owed on a bet I made about this very song three years ago! :) I didn't know her name(Ms. Wells) but I knew it wasn't my Ms. Carn. Thank you, and bless you and yours!
Hi everyone, just to set the record straight, the vocalist on this posting of "The Sweetest Pain," is indeed, Terri Wells. As victornewman06 has already stated.
@rasun316 Hi rasun316, this is Dexter Wansel and Terri Wells is the vocalist on this track of mine. Of course Jean and I have done many wonderful projects together but this is not one of them.
This is so awesome, finding this song on You Tube has made my day, I first heard this song on a Public station back in Salt Lake City Utah around 1980, the DJ was Bob Gomez, I recorded it on cassette, Last week I listened to that old cassette and played the show 10 or 12 times continuously, I had no idea who the artist was until today when I decided to search for it here, It really is the Sweetest, a great song and rhythm, it makes me feel so good, as good as the first time I heard it.
This is one of my many favorite songs of all time. It ALWAYS get an obligatory play whenever I'm putting on albums at home, and it sounds great every single time.
@ Dex,I first read a credit on the Jones Girls "Nights Over Egypt" lord knows how many years ago and said to myself where have I heard that name before? Then I looked you up and
BOOM!!! You were the power behind MFSB,huh?dude, you really were way ahead of the times. Are you still recording?
@DustySleevs Yessss!!!! And I will be more than willing to join you. Hahahaha... Plus I know my friend Terri Wells' who is the vocalist.. will also join us! Hahahaha...
Do you still tour, if so come to the biggest Jazz Festival in the world, I wish Jean Carn would come; The North Seas Jazz Festival! in Holland. In fact Holland is amazing in remembering the greats. You are so underrated, but I have loved your music since my teens in the 70's growing up and listening to your records! I am originally from the US but now live in TheNetherlands. Hope to see you over here one day performing.

@rasun316 Hi rasun316, this is Dexter Wansel and Terri Wells is the vocalist on this track of mine. Of course Jean and I have done many wonderful projects together but this is not one of them.
May your road be smooth and easy.

This track means a lot to me - brings back many happy (and painful) memories of 1979. Beautiful song.

@ Dexter Wansel,
Do you still tour, if so come to the biggest Jazz Festival in the world, I wish Jean Carn would come; The North Seas Jazz Festival! in Holland. In fact Holland is amazing in remembering the greats. You are so underrated, but I have loved your music since my teens in the 70's growing up and listening to your records! I am originally from the US but now live in TheNetherlands. Hope to see you over here one day performing.
