  • IS THE MAN GREAT,GREAT MUSICIAN

  • At 1:04, the guy's knee looks like a head of a dog O.o

  • so much better than the pearl epro live

  • So is he Omar, Omah or Ohar? :) I vote for Omar :)

  • @TheGoneGolfinGuy HOW DID U GET IT FOR 2 GRAND WHERE!! i can save up for that

  • freaking sweet!

  • When electronic drum kits are this overpriced, just buy an acoustic?!

  • @TazVlogs True... but if you live in an apartment? Take up guitar instead

  • Looks like the triggers and all (the hardware so to speak) are working. Now it's time to develop some decent sounding samples, Roland. Because they might feel like real drums, but they don't sound like them.

  • Compare the expressiveness off 2box Drumit 5:

    watch?v=YpjZWujoTDY&feature=related

    With Roland TD-20 snaredrum Expressiveness:

    watch?v=ORY_Uf1kU0E&feature=related

It speaks for itself, Roland is inferior. Which isnt strange, 2box is from the guy who invented the e-Drum pioneer Dddrum!!

The LATEST version of ddrum, ddrum 4 was releast TEN years ago, listen to them here..

    watch?v=TwoMMMhxOA4&feature=related

You be the judge, but 2box is ahead of the pack, again...

  • I FINALLY FOUND THE KIT MY UNCLE HAS! Best kit I've ever played so far!

  • its not fair! im not buying a shitty set thatl last a week out of the box, but i dont have 6 grand! :((

  • @Legomygrego16

    Buy this instead....

    watch?v=YpjZWujoTDY&feature=related

  • Check out the new Electronic heads by Aquarian Drumheads ,,, "inHEAD"

  • Sounds still like the 80´s developements - ddrum etc. So what kind of advantage do u really have by playing this one? Or is it meant only in addition to an acoustic drum set? Like Steve mentioned at the end of this video? :-)

  • That set is $6,500 with out the extra pads with the extras $8,000 total WTFF

  • ransisua: That's your opinion. :)

The TD-20KX has the same hardware than the TD-20K, only the Silver thing is different and silver rack, but the same technology.

  • that's beatifulll!!!

  • does this expansion pack come on the td-20sx?

  • These kits are so easy for jamming and gigs, plugging straight in to the desk and having great sounds and awesome kits with all the portability and added functions like being able to jam with a metrenome or plug an mp3 player into the mix in and play songs. They will never replace acoustic kits though. Sometimes imperfection is a good thing.

  • The Hi-Hat on the TD20 and TD12 is heaps better than the TD9 and below. In retrospect, I would have saved longer and bought a TD12 as the best professional quality at the lowest price over the TD9. Regardless, I am going to watch this vid again and practice on my TD9 some more.

  • @toddandhisdog You realize that you can upgrade the TD-9 with a stand-mounted hi-hat, I think it's the same one as on the TD-12. The wire that normally runs from your standalone hi-hat pedal to the drum brain comes out of the hi-hat instead.

Out of curiosity, are you running the 9 or the 9KX? If you're rocking rubber toms, then I feel for you and maybe you should sell it and get a 12. I do wish I had a mesh kick and all 3-trigger cymbals, but that was not worth over $1K to me.

  • @McGuinty1 I am in the "and below" section. I bought a floor model TD-6 for a really good price. I'm same as you with upgrading. I cant justiofy the money to upgrade when I could spend the same amount of money on something more useful. V-drums don't cut it for full fluied dynamic expression yet. V-drums are great, but still not able to emulate acoustics well enough to take over. A bit of the best of both worlds in either option.

  • @toddandhisdog I know what you mean about dynamics, there are certain situations, mostly in fast hi-hat runs, when it's blatantly obvious that you're playing a digital kit. I could have gotten a decent mid-level acoustic kit for half of what I paid, but my decision was made for me when I moved into an apartment with a fairly strict stipulation against excessive noise. However, if I had gotten the acoustic kit, I'd only have one kit, not 50. I only play maybe 10 regularly, but still... ;)

  • Im going to get one of these.. When i win the lottery (;

  • fucking great!

  • yeah the TD20 dropped in price now plus i bet you could pick one up cheap on ebay because most drummers want a td20kx

  • I am so going to buy these eventually. Wow.

  • This is the best solo i've seen in a LONG WHILE.

  • Good Stuff! But : ( USD like $6,999 covert to Malaysia money like RM22.+++

  • Do you want to know why the sounds aren´t that realistic? Cause the sounds in the td 20 module are all already eq`d compressed etc. Its made for easier Recording or just to play to music like it would sound on a cd!

  • i just wish i could play drums that tricky.i assume alot of thought goes into such a performance.im sure it makes sense to the drummer.art is cool.thats what its really all about, freedom of expression ya know.u.s.a. n stuff

  • Grandiose musicians!

  • Dude these guys have SKILL!

  • looks like he plays on A-drums =O

  • And no, you do NOT have to buy this drums to have the same quality, just buy the TD-12 drumset (which I have), it's the same sound quality, you just have some smaller drums and a module nearly as good (especially with the last firmware update), but so much cheaper!

To sum up, everything here is a matter of taste guyz, don't forget it!

  • And Roland's hardware is way better than any other one, so nice when you hit it and so solid.

I really prefer this technology over DDrum's sample one, as it's so much more flexible and with some good kits (VExpressions are the best) you can reach some very realistic songs, maybe just not 100% realistic yes.

  • nah. DTX950K has a better hardware. And they have third party sample of real acoustic drums. But limited to 64 polyphony.

Also Pearl e-pro live and Hart pro have a very good hardware too.

BTW, Roland TD20 KX is a great looking kit and better hardware than this one.

  • Still the best e-drums to me.

And yes it's not at all samples, but a kind of very advanced MIDI songs.

The advantages are that you can virtually edit all what you want (head size, head tension, drum size, ambience and so more effects etc)

The drawbacks are that the sound does not sound 100% realistic (but at this stage it's quite realistic, even for the toms in this video).

  • Rock Jazz

    which is better?

  • The Tom samples need to be more realistic. They still sound a little to "Electronic".

  • too expensive, but still the best

  • @jasonsr3 how much?

  • @rjlgspi24 7000.00

  • @jasonsr3 Nope, this one is the best-> watch?v=YpjZWujoTDY

2box Drumit 5 with alternating samples, 4gig on-board memory totally editable, chokable cymbals etc. I just got mine a month ago and I can´t stop playing. Listen to the snare - LISTEN!

    Good bye Roland....

  • @nengstro I'll check it out, and LISTEN! Lol

  • super cool - I still have a TD6 from like 9 years ago - great thing is you don't have to change heads, never break sticks an you can play at night as well can record easily with them.... I think you could really have fun with the TD4 or TD9 brain and then need to figure out if you want all mesh heads or rubber - would save you a lot of money.

  • these kits are worth as much as my first car

  • these kits would be great to have if you happen to have $7000 laying around

  • @hammerinhammer all I know is that I will own one of these... you can have things these expensive... just gotta know how to pay for them.

  • mmkay...thanks for the tip.

  • I think the second guy was Forrest Robinson, a drummer out of Atlanta. He use to hit with Indie Arie....He is really a cool cat and a beast of a get this "rock drummer"....I'm better though.........NOT.....Steve Fisher is the Product Manager at Roland and played with Maynard Ferguson and is also a Hair Club For Men endorse....Sorry Steve.......C'mon on over to the bald side.

  • @TheBeatSmith i thought it was rodney holmes... but i could be wrong

  • kowen9005, SUP.....No the first guy is Omar....the Second guy is Forrest....

  • God Bless you Omar Hakim !

  • they could have picked better sounding sets, those sounded like crap

  • Nice Omah

  • This guys great!

But if you're going to do a double bass, I think it needs to be done in moderation. Too much is too much.

  • he's great because he's omah hakim...

  • This kit screams metal.

  • Fast rolls on toms don't sound right. I'm pleasantly surprised by the snare's dynamics and cymbals. The kick isn't that great.

  • I dream of that instrument Roland but I do not have so much money

  • @totojazz1 Whell if you dont need it, stick with the real thing, altho this is better than close to it. And if you do need it, get the money, rob a bank (or save)

  • @totojazz1 :(

  • @totojazz1 but its woth it its roland not just some crappy drum

i'm trying to buy the td-9kx cheaper but still expensive

  • Reminds me of chester thompson, his kit layout and high stool setup.

  • Were it said its metal?

  • Nop not good at all... i wish that this could sound like the ezdrummer software ... greetings from Mexico

  • great!

  • Thats what a real drum kit sounds like maybe you don't know how to tune a drum kit up properly.

  • They sound close to real acoustic drums BUT not 100% to me. Why can't they make them sound absolutely real?

If they take real recordings of drums to use them as the sounds, which I believe they do, why don't they sound 100% real?

It seems it would be easy to make hitting one of the drums once sound 100% real because it would be an actual recording sample of an acoustic drum. So is it only digital sounding when you hit the same drum more than once too quickly like in the drum fills at 7:03 ?

  • From Roland:

Once a musical instrument generates sound vibrations, it reaches the human ear through various mediating objects, each of which significantly affects the sound. Sound modeling, the latest DSP technology, "virtually" reconstructs these objects. Roland's breakthrough Composite Object Sound Modeling (COSM) uses the advantages of multiple modeling methods and succeeds in accurately emulating existing sounds, as well as producing sounds that have never before been created.

  • The main problem with a purely sample based approach is that the sound isn't dynamic enough to fool your ears.

When someone plays the drums, they don't get the same exact sound every time they hit something. If they did, it would sound synthetic and unfeeling.

  • That is so true! Great point...

In that case, I guess you would agree that the V-drums sound most realistic when you hit one of the drum pads once to let it ring... and least realistic when you hit one multiple times over a short period of time (like drum rolls).

Then again, I think that someone DOES get practically the same initial sound on an acoustic drum if they hit it the same way both times. It just does not happen exactly the same way very often.

    You think they'll improve?

  • Sure.

I think that the thing holding back instruments like this one is computing power.

I wouldn't be surprised if a machine that could do one drum realistically at a time would be cost prohibitive.

I imagine that in the future there will be affordable equipment that simulates drums instead of emulating them.

  • That's why using alternating samples is a clever solution.

  • they sound a bit too well tuned , too perfect. but id still have one =)

  • They don't use actual drum sounds, they may use it for starting but they analyse it and try and reproduce it from scratch. This requires far less storage and is adjustable (for example on here I know you can select ride sounds from a 18" up to a 40" ride) but aren't as realistic. Check out a VST such as Superior Drummer for the sampled way of doing it.

  • I know that nobody asked, but here in Brazil, this kit costs $ 11.500,00. Really sad because, I'll never buy it.

  • Wow, sounds like acoustic, that's pretty good emulation, though for it's price, may as well just get an acoustic anyway, I mean what's the point of electronic? I guess they're smaller...

  • Some, but not all, advantages to electronic kits over acoustic kits are:

    1. During recording they can be ideal. For instance, you don't have to set up mics or worry about good levels or room acoustics etc... you just plug it in.

    2. If you have neighbors electronic drums are cool too... playing acoustic drums requires other people around don't mind the loud banging.

    3. Also, with acoustic drums, you're stuck with whatever sound they make... electronic drums, you can change kits and sounds.

  • That makes sense, it just seems like electronic are a gross amount more expensive than acoustics. I mean acoustics have dampeners, and you're not necessarily stuck with a sound, you can always tune them differently. But I see what you're saying, It does make some things easier, I'm just wondering if those conveniences are worth the extra money you would be dropping for it.

  • I have a saying that "it's not what you have, it's what you do with it". If you bought it and didn't use it, it may be a waste of time and money getting it. You could just grab some spoons and make great music if you use them well enough. So I guess whether its worth it depends on how well you put them to use.

From this video, the V-drums seem to sound amazingly close to real to me but I still feel like I can hear "digital" in them (just barely), which to me personally, may not be worth it.

  • You guys should checkout Machinegun Smith. He's an awesome drummer on youtube and uses one of these kits.

  • THIS IS AMAZING! BUT 4000 POUNDS IS WAY TOO MUCH FOR ME MAN. Hahaha

  • Show de bola, muito bom mesmo. Quando tiver dinheiro eu compro uma batera dessa pra mim. Ela é fantastica, sensacional!

  • this song of the begining is the best

  • he has 4 triples and 2 extra toms.. does that really fit??

  • A very very good tweakn on ambience effects and layering in the DTXpress IV and DTXtreme III of Yamaha can lead to the same great sounds this wonderful (but expensive) vdrum offers. But, I do have to agree, the TD 20 looks amazing.

  • Roland equipment, simply great. A guitarist I jam with has a ' BIG MUFF "pedal he bought new in 1973, and he assures me it still works like new.

  • the best drum kit

  • the new 2box has much better sounds than that.

  • only in the uk though

  • I think I want to cut my wrists.

    Can't afford these sob.

  • wow.....

  • well you can buy the stabdar one and with time you can buy the cymbals and the plates one by one!!!!!!

  • You should buy Hart drums. They're A LOT cheaper, and they almost copy Roland. Not speaking out against Roland btw.

  • Then you have to buy a 3,000 dollar module

  • I do? For hart drums? Well, that could be a setback :P

  • i wish i could afford them

  • Yeah!! STING!!!

  • he play in any bands?

  • Many top artists and bands across the world as well as solo stuff. Very well recorded too - incl Dire Straits Money For Nothing I believe

  • who is the 2nd drummer?

  • Forrest Robinson
