  • This is amazing!

  • For those curious about doing this yourself; on a PC, you can use FL Studio's Pitcher plugin and control it with MIDI from a MIDI out generator with it's own piano roll, or any live MIDI outputting instrument. Learn more about FL Studio and Pitcher at image-line.co m

  • jajajaja muy bueno!

  • you rock!!!!

  • What would I need to buy to do all of this?

  • @reholloway I use a VoiceLive 2 or VoiceLive Touch to do the autotune and harmonies, but it could probably be done with software, if you've got a good computer. I haven't looked at software autotune yet, but I do know that it's usually used in post production, where it may take 5 minutes to process 30 seconds of audio, where in this case it needs to be real-time. On the other hand I have a iMac and do a TON of other real-time audio processing and it works fine with minimal latency.

  • Better than anything on Radio Disney ;-)

  • Can you please do a video on how to do this? New at this and this is the best I have heard.

  • @reholloway Ya, I'm gonna try to do that soon. :)

  • @AntoineTixier Thanks! :) I use a VoiceLive 2 (which I've updated to VoiceLive Touch) for the autotune. I need to look into software autotune, but I'm sure by using hardware it takes a load of my iMac since this is live, not like an post-production effect. My voice isn't THAT good and no mic can change that, so no. The crappier the mic the better I sound. Give me a megaphone and I'm a rockstar! It's sending the notes via midi to the VL and there are no changes. U hear the dif between lead & harm

  • Hey man this is fucking awesome!!!!

How do you do to link the MIDI file and Autotune in real time like that? What piece of software do you have? What version of Autotune?

  • @UncleTony007 Thanks! :) I use a VoiceLive 2 (which I've updated to VoiceLive Touch) for the autotune. I need to look into software autotune, but I'm sure by using hardware it takes a load of my iMac since this is live, not like an post-production effect.

  • If you're gonna use midi files at least alter the preset instruments for more depth! I'm amazed people are still using midi files in 2011 or 2010 when the video was posted - they are soooo 1994!

  • @neil73 Thanks for the feedback! Those sounds are actually coming out of a Roland RD-700SX which I sold for $1200 and replaced with software. Though I do have to admit it sounds pretty crappy compared to the iMac I'm playing now! Check out my Bear's Looptastic Spectacular vids. And no "midi track", I play it all myself with the help of live looping. Though I do use midi to control my robotic track cam. :)

  • I don't know why, but when he sings without effects is TOO DAMN funny.

  • I LOVE IT! This is one of the best videos I have seen on YouTube in a while. Would love for you to do more pop and current vids. Great stuff bro!

  • this is awesome! The shots of you singing out of tune on purpose is hilarious, and its amazing that autotune corrects it so well! You sound great! lol

  • @FredIThink Awe shucks, gee thanks. :) Check out my new vids I'm doing some pretty cool stuff with live looping.

  • Dude this is pretty cool..kudos. But in a way, I feel this takes the fun away from making fun of drunk people who can't sing at karaoke bars.

  • That's awesome! hahaha love it. well done.

  • Bearhemian Rapsody! nice!

  • loving it...

  • No, dont misunderstood me, your initiative it's very well, the video it's good, tho work it's fine, but I dont know, I think that kind of work can be better with hardware solution.., like the Helicon Harmony, autotune and so on.

Of course sometimes I'm also used to try with software, but I dont know why doesnt work. It's always robotic, I tried whit Melodine for example, but I had always problems with the "formants" too

But anyway, you're in the good way, and near to find the solution.

    Hug!

  • @rauberonline Right on. Ya, sorry I was feeling bitchy that night and I'd been saving that line for awhile. hehe But actually it doesn't even really apply to this video. That was more for the harmonies on my "BLS" videos, but you were prob talking about the lead voice. Since this is a demo of Autotune Karaoke it's heavily autotuning the lead, and on top of it I'm purposely singing off key so it has to work harder and it adds to the robotic sound. But still super fun esp if you're not a singer.

  • robotic vocal

  • @rauberonline Yes, thanks for pointing that out. It's mostly a result of humans only having one mouth and therefore I can only sing one part, and rely on technology for the rest. Unfortunately, at the moment, even the best technology still leaves you sounding robotic, which is why this video is not titled "Completely Realistic Live Harmonies Karaoke".

While we're at it lets point out some other things shall we? The wall is blue, the TV is HD, and I'm fat. :)

  • cool and fun.. probbo would be a blast at parties :) I'll see if I can make it work..

  • Under normal circumstances, I'd be enraged by this (especially if you were makig millions), but this is hysterical. Nice job...programmers.

  • Send this to OwlCity and BOOM, you will make him sound a thousand times better already. At least he'll have proper use of autotune.

  • Awesome job on the video. I went out and bought a voice live touch. Please tell me how to get the midi files for songs or what I need to do what you just did.

  • @dpmylo You can get free midi files if you search or buy pro ones which are a lot better. Google "hittrax" they've got a lot of good ones. Open it in a midi player. You can search for a free one or buy one like Ableton Live Intro. Now set the instrument tracks to internal sounds and the melody/harmonies to output to the Voicelive (through USB) on channel 1. Your VL should be in MIDI mode for the "NaturalPlay" setting for Harmony. Preset #202 "Wet Choir" works good. Now press play and sing! :)

  • sounds like stephen hawkins singing!. cool tho!

  • HI

What program are you using? =)

  • Here's a crazy idea - learn to sing. These things are great, they give everyone a chance...

  • @stormtours Well just for the record I can sing. I've sang at Carnegie Hall before actually. :) I was singing out of tune in that vid to demo the autotune.

  • Awesome !!

  • goede demo

  • Does the TC Helicon Voicelive 2 work well with karaoke? Big ticket item but It sound great.

  • @willarddj1 I upgraded to the VoiceLive Touch which is smaller and cheaper. It's great for Karaoke if you're able to figure out what key and scale the song is in to dial in the autotune.

  • Does the TC Helicon Voicelive 2 work well with karaoke? Big ticket item.

  • lawl this is how i autotune my songs i remix but i do it in FL STudio

  • You should have put the without autotune version ^^

  • You're the man, braugh.

  • Bravo, grzat idea !!! cheers from France.

  • Bro this is too funny when you go back and forth between autotuned and live. Do some more!

  • Ha! Good idea! Do they allow autotune? Over 800 views in 3 months! Wow, I'm the next Rebecca Black!

  • How the hell do you have 800 views already?? You trying out for X-Factor?? lol

  • Thanks! Just to be clear I was singing bad on purpose! hehe

  • Also, you should do a tutorial on how you did this!

  • haha this is great!!

The back and fourth is so funny.

  • Hahaha! You sound terrible! Love it!

  • amazing

  • LOL !!!!
