  • my chinese astrological sign = the goat

    Not kidding

  • It sounds like the goat is doing the vocals haha awesome!

  • Black Metal, these days is a little too mechanical sounding for my tastes, but I've always dug the stripped down sound of the old days

  • Bathory,Dark Funeral,Gorgoroth,Mayhem,Burzum,Marduk and Immortal are the best Black Metal bands in my opinion.

  • @Hitchhikeroftheyear Gorgoroth, Mayhem? lol

  • @Hitchhikeroftheyear Hell yeah. All you need to add to that list is Darkthrone, and then your list is perfect.

  • I thought that Venom's Welcome to Hell wad going to be the worst recorded album I would ever hear... I was wrong

  • @mooninites3 fuck off man! It was at time when Quorthon didn't have enough money to get an epic sound of first Bathory's album! Besides he made this album alone and he wanted to play fast and loud as fuckin hell! At Bathory's third album Quorthon started to work on much more better sound and more epic sound.

  • @Thorgal20 I like Bathory, but thie quality just makes me not want to listen.

  • @mooninites3

the quality was fucking shit to fucking begin with man he recorded this in his moms fucking basement during the summer and you can hear fucking neighbors lawnmowers in the background

  • @FlagOfInfiniteKarate That's why it's amazing. Fucking duh.

  • @FlagOfInfiniteKarate tr00 kvlt

  • @FlagOfInfiniteKarate no. not his mom's basement. it was actually a studio in a garage in suburban stockholm. and no lawnmowers here, that's somewhere on hammerheart. don't exaggerate.

  • @mooninites3 Are you for real? Welcome To Hell is quite well recorded for its budget and time. You're probably too used to listening to all the over-produced modern music. Realize that this is a DIY album from 1984, not a $10,000 budget album from 2010. Most black metal is DIY, that is the nature of it.

If you don't like it, don't listen and don't comment. Your opinion means very little to any Bathory fan.

  • @SoundsOfMetal I never said I disliked Bathory... I'm just pointing out how terrible the production is for this particular album.

  • @mooninites3 Sorry, then. Shouldn't have jumped to arguing like that.

I agree in a way, but if not only for historical reasons I think every metalhead should give this album a listen through.. when it comes down to it, I prefer Hammerheart. It's amazing that one band could reach across so many different sounds like Bathory has done.

  • @SoundsOfMetal Yeah, I can see how what I said could sound like I'm insulting it, but I'll just have to ease myself into this album... I really like Blood Fire Death and Twilight of the Gods. But I'll just have to get to this album later.

  • @mooninites3 Those too are my favourites too. Blood Fire Death is more black metal, and Twilight are one of the most beautiful metal albums ever.

  • helllllllllllllllll!!!!

  • recorded with phone infront of speaker?

  • I have a t-shirt of this..my religious/ conservative neighborhood doesn't like me wearing it. Hmm..I wonder why???? lol

  • @islespatrick

    fuck em

  • @islespatrick don't worry, they probably worship Satan more than you do. Ironically, even the bible says this

  • @chemiah Seriously? Wow. That's interesting.

  • @Hitchhikeroftheyear Damn right. No crap synthesizer just raw Black Metal.

  • @Hitchhikeroftheyear Excuse me? Dimmu Borgir is symphonic black metal, you're just another black metal fanboy who only listens to the repetitive Satanic lyric themed crap. At least Dimmu Borgir doesn't always talk about Satanic bullshit.

  • @SatanFang Satanic bullshit brother please, would you rather listen to Christian crap? i don't think so.

  • @Hitchhikeroftheyear You missed my point, when someone tries something different with black metal. Whether it'd be symphonic or orchestral or have different lyrical themes the trve kvlt black metal kiddies go THIS SUCKSS!1

  • @SatanFang Gotta say i agree with you there. This does sound more "evil" but damn i like this, i like dimmu, i dont think there's some fucking criteria for "true" black metal. If it's black metal it's black metal, the end. Stuff is different yo.

  • @SatanFang I'm somewhat new to Black Metal but so far to be honest, so far I think Dimmu and Cradle of Filth are the most boring, overrated extreme metal bands. And I'm not even kvlt or into satanic lyrics & stuff. I also think that CoF and Dimmu's irritating emo-goth hot topic fans are just as annoying as the "tr00 kvlt kiddies." I think Emperor is a great Symphonic Black Metal band. Way more fun to listen to than Dimmu or CoF.

  • @Dn8Free Overrated? They're not popular at all, a lot of people hate them simply for being different. There's a difference between emo and goth, emo's hate themselves and want to die. And if you ask me, people that kill themselves deserve what they did anyway since they're stupid. However I do agree with you, a lot of CoF's and Dimmu Borgir's fans are annoying. A lot of them are either fat teenage girls with issues or posers. They make the bands look bad.

  • @SatanFang C'mon man, Dimmu & Cradle are popular indeed, that's a fact.

  • @Imiface They don't tend to be on TV or radio, do they? People also say how they're on TV which is bullshit, not once have I seen them on MTV.

  • @SatanFang MTV doesn't air music videos at all. Take a look at their fanbase, their presence in metal media, and you'll get the idea. And I didn't say that they are bad, I just said that they are famous in the measures of the metal genre.

  • @Imiface Last time I switched over to there they were. Cradle of Filth and Dimmu Borgir certainly not as famous as Metallica is, Metallica is shit anyway. They lost their passion for music and went commercial and soft.

  • @SatanFang American MTV I mean. Nevermind. Fame is relative, it depends who do you compare. I think CoF and Dimmu are really famous if you think of the scene where they came from. And fame doesn't necessary makes a band bad, but I prefer bands from the underground. Let's listen to Bathory, Darkthrone and Burzum. :)

  • @SatanFang Maybe they aren't as famous as Metallica, but compared to Bathory, Immortal, Darkthrone (and other actual good bands), I'd say they are. And I know that Emos and Goths aren't the same thing, but when it comes to mall culture these days, they are pretty close. And as for going commercial and soft (which is true with Metallica), can't the same thing be said for Cradle and Dimmu? Just listen to that crappy Thornography album.

  • @Dn8Free Cradle of Filth's past 2 albums overthrow largely Thornography. Metallica are getting good again, listen to Death Magnetic.

  • @SatanFang Yeah I hear mixed things about Death Magnetic. But hell, I guess it can't be as bad as Saint Anger. As for CoF, Thornography was the first Cradle album I ever heard. A friend of mine was playing it in the car. He told me it was black metal. Back then I wasn't even into black metal, but I was still like "Seriously? This is black metal?" I don't own any CoF albums but I watched various vids of them on youtube and so far, nothing special.

  • @Dn8Free Death Magnetic is a step closer to their older thrash metal stuff, St. Anger is the bands lowest point. You can't even call St. Anger heavy metal, it's hard rock. By that time you'd think that they shouldn't even be called Metallica. Cradle of Filth's past 2 albums are much better than the Nymphetamine-Thornography era, it's a mix between old and new Cradle but not really a return to form. They did say their upcoming album will be their true return to form though.

  • @SatanFang Also, I don't think a band sucks for being famous. If Darkthrone and Immortal were somehow played on the radio, they would still be my favorite Black Metal bands.

  • @Imiface They have a lot of fans and are common in music shops and metal sites but that doesn't make them bad.

  • @Hitchhikeroftheyear Why fuck Dimmu Borgir (early albums)? Please, explain.

  • @MadStone666 Dimmu Borgir ain't nothing man.....that's all i can say.

  • TO ALL THE CENTURY MEDIA FANBOYS - THIS IS TRUE BLACK METAL.

  • @actionist2009 Nattens Madrigal would like to have a word with you.

  • @actionist2009 bathory was distibuted by centry media, your the centry media fanboy here, go listen to Behexen or Ah Pool, those are some real true black metal artists.

  • @ErikEntropy What does "true" mean, anyway?

  • @Zangetsu2201 i dont know. not a f'ing clue, but im pretty sure it is an opinion based descriptive word pertaining to the quality and originality of something in the case where it was used in the comment i replied to anyways. but maybe this person thinks the (seemingly non existant to me anyways) factual info in the lyrics to this song is correct, as opposed to the lyrics of artists signed by centry media.

  • Charmingly dark!

  • This is just stunning. I was just listening to some Dekapitator,Slayer and Kreator when i saw this vid on feed. Clicked and not dissapointed...at all. Being open minded has its benefits.

    Metal on fellas, \M/|\M/\M/|\M/\M/|\M/\M/|\M/

  • CHECK OUR SHITOUT~~

  • i played this album to shreds,,,, back in the day

  • lol

  • Quorthon formed Bathory in 1983 when he was 17 years old. Always underfunded, his albums had a rough quality which many black metal bands would later emulate, and which would come to characterize this genre of music. He recorded in a garage known as Heavenshore Studios on a 4 track recorder, with mechanics working around him and neighbors mowing their lawns.

  • BATHORY > Venom

  • The sound quality on the cd sounds better then this rip, is this from the vinyl? Sounds way different.

  • Too many subjects covered to tie it down to being a "vampire band" ive felt that way for a while now. Twice someone has tried to call Bathory a vampire band because of the name of the and not knowing that more often than not the songs are about other shit. The first two Cds are the fucking best. The rest are pretty good too. Bathory are one of the greatest if not THE greatest band ever.

  • the condition of the quality is what makes bathory awesome

  • Holy fucking hell! I don't know if it's the video itself or the actual album recording, but the quality has got to be the worst I've ever heard. Even worse than Venom.

  • @theblargh151 And believe it or not, many black metal bands espouse that lo-fi recording.

  • Chuck Norris checks his closet at night for Quorthon.

  • @MemoriesofIreland190 Quorthon checks his closet for shitty memes like chuck norris

  • WOW this song remember me of:

Burst Command Till War - Sodom

    Satanas - Sarcófago

    Early Black Metal >>> all

  • Old school fucking Black Metal, haha awesome! XD

  • FINNALLY MY CD ARRIVES !!!!!!

  • This hasn't dated at all. Gives me chills!

  • bad ass band rite here cheers

  • Fucking awsome!!

  • @JackTorrance1994 well it was worth it dude, look at ratings as well :-> :D

  • Yum

  • Good News Everybody!!!! I Tried To Gett On DISNEYlover140's channel and apperently he closed his account!!!!!! No More Bullshit from that FAG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @h3adbanger95 good riddance.the guy was spamming like he would overdose on glitter in the next hour.

  • I'm trying to branch out to heavier stuff, but I can't get behind this crap.

  • @LSUbleauxs14 Maybe it sounds like crap to some modern ears, but in 1984 when this was released, it was the heaviest, most evil metal anybody had ever heard. Put it into context, this inspired hundreds of bands to become heavier, faster, more extreme, and drastically changed their outlook once they had heard what was possible. This album was truly groundbreaking. I respect your opinion, but in turn, please respect this crucial jigsaw piece in modern Metal heritage.

  • @zepromz I hear what you are saying. Now what Im saying is that Im a metalcore guy whose trying to give harder music a chance. Seeing as Bathory is the end all-be all for many, Id go there. I heard one song that was OK, but there has to be something more than this to my music. Not exciting enough for me.

  • @LSUbleauxs14 Problematic, most commercial Metalcore is produced, compressed, tweaked to make the final product sound as aggressive as possible. You are probably going to be disappointed in finding "Harder" stuff. You need to go heavy not hard, big difference. I think you should stick at the history though, you might find a lot more interesting bands by tracing the bands who inspired your current favourites. OK, Bathory didn't work for you, but there are 100 other bands who might.

  • @zepromz I agree with you, this album with Killswitch Engage production would be ass.

  • @PTR131 No! It wouldnt be bathroy!

  • @LSUbleauxs14 Well in that case you should listen to some of his later albums like Blood Fire Death or Twilight of the Gods, and come back to this when you've awoken the old school thrasher in you ;D

  • @LSUbleauxs14 I was the same way at the beginning. Trust me, it takes time, but eventually this shit will grow on you.

  • @QuorthonandCronos

Nice name mate! Bang on, both gods!

  • \m/

  • Why is there Anubis on the photo? The song is supposed to be called "Hades".

  • @ArcaneMage54k Anubis? i hope that's just a really bad spelling error and you meant the goat of mendes.

also, how many albums have every song written about the artwork?

  • AVE QUORTON AND BATHORY!

  • Comment removed

  • @christthi not that strange really. he just grew up a bit and realised that the whole Satanic thing was a bit of a gimmick and wasn't particularly heartfelt for him, so he moved on to subjects that were closer to his heart. The Viking-era stuff might be less extreme but it was still pretty innovative at the time, and awesome of course :)

  • this is pure fucking darkness and evil

  • Anyone know if bathory is on itunes?

  • RIP the almighty QUORTHON

  • and rap is gay as shit too

  • @Fuckrap111 NO! EVER HEARD OF WU TANG CLAN OR NWA? THEY FUCKIN RULE!

  • @Trevor9849 i like nwa

  • @Trevor9849 no that`s nigga metal not black metal.lmao

  • @Fuckrap111 i listen to bathory and rap, u mad?

  • @Fuckrap111 it's really sad that people mention this miasma in Bathory videos

  • Comment removed

  • Quorthon is the father of our music....hail!!!

  • real music! true black metal! this will forever be a classic!

  • @JackTorrance1994 yes I do, that was obvious :D

  • This is just a bad quality upload, my cd sounds way fucking better then this shitty rip.

  • I don't know about you guys but my ears sniff som wicked carnivore riffs from this record.True soul put into this effort

    Rest in peace Quorthon \\m//

  • @jeffrey42088 why even waste your time to say that? why.

  • @jeffrey42088 Lil wayne has a lil dick

  • It'd be nice if they re-recorded this with higher production. Sounds like early Slayer a bit. But when I listen to this on my iPod, you have to jack the shit up just to hear the drums.

  • @amixofeverything Greater sound quality? That's the most non-black metal thing I've ever heard. Also, Quorthon is dead, good luck getting him to sign a recording deal.

  • @MorkaGraven I know that is the most un-black metal thing to say. And yeah...it is black metal, but it is also thrash metal similar to Slayer. I mean, I love Bathory, but I'd just like to hear the drums a little bit more.

  • This stuff was recorded in the innermost frozen circle of hell and Satan was the sound engineer. Satan isn't really good at sound engineering.

  • @Hyenashowl i laughed hard xD

  • @Hyenashowl I think the problem is that usually PCs come with Christian audio codecs preloaded.

  • @Hyenashowl lol. This album is awesome, but the production is really shitty.

  • @Hyenashowl its kool bc bathory still became fucking famous as hell and when i mean famous as hell i mean it literally bc they recorded this in hell lol

  • @Hyenashowl Quorthon formed Bathory in 1983 when he was 17 years old. Always underfunded, his albums had a rough quality which many black metal bands would later emulate, and which would come to characterize this genre of music. He recorded in a garage known as Heavenshore Studios on a 4 track recorder, with mechanics working around him and neighbors mowing their lawns. no Satan involved LOL

  • @ohrj no shit... i really thought it was recorded in hell and satan was the sound engeneer... my fault...

  • @Kackrabe LOL

  • @ohrj Just like no humour is involved in your comment.

  • @ohrj did you copy that from wikipedia. it sounds similar

  • @Hyenashowl nice one dude

  • Bathory and 2pac are my favorite artist of all the time..

  • why do people keep going on about chuck norris? fuck chuck, fucking bathory!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! \m/

  • Sounds as if the goat on the cover is doing the vocals haha O.o

  • @jeffrey42088 Amen to that fuck that remedial faggot HAIL BATHORY!!! \m/

  • i want this whole record rerecorded. you can argue about shitty production is a must for black metal but i bet if quorthon had the Possibilites to record it better he would have done it.

  • @Luemm3l Possibly. It's not the bad production that bothers me, it's the lack of volume. I've heard many albums that are terribly lo-fi but still audible.

  • Man, is "DISNEYlover140" bitch eveywhere!? Bitch is giving us more views!

  • @BlackNorwegianMetal Yeah that bitch is everywhere >.<

  • yeah well dont do shitty production for the sake of being black metal if you can afford better production....ive heard that ands always poseurs. yay bathory

  • That main riff makes my ears melt. This is amazing! \m/

  • this release is far ahead of time

  • 1kbps :P

I love this album, but not from JewTube :)

  • FIST UP FOR BATHORY OKLAHOMA CITY OK

  • @jeffrey42088 well said.

  • Not meaning to offend any fans here, but why is the quality so poor? I can barely tell what's going on with the song... Is it this version on Youtube, or just the band's style of production?

  • @DarkWolf5250 this version is just bad, not sure why. on the right bar (suggestions) should be "Bathory - Raise the Dead," try that one out, same album, much better quality version.

  • @JIOOOO Thanks...
