  • tbh this song sounds like shit.

im just saying he can play better than me but it gave me a headache of confusion

  • its not a telecaster on this page only used his telecaster on Led Zeppelin I and on the tairway to heaven solo. he used his les paul on this. and u can do the string bend on a les paul cause i have a les paul and i can do it.

  • It is a Telecaster on the original recording of Heartbreaker. Les Paul is used live.

  • ive played one of these for an hour or so maybe more and it was possibly the greatest guitar i have ever played. The neck was SUPER SLIM though and im used to my 58 neck but it was amazing

  • les pauls are not that sqeaky

  • Kinda funny that the solo in the background isn't even done on a les paul

  • yes it is... its heartbreaker

  • Telecaster.

notice the pitch bend about 10ish seconds in?

that's a string bend above the nut of a fender style guitar...try that with a les paul.

It's Page, But its not a les paul.

  • u can do those bends on a les paul 2

  • try it....I'd love to see that.

  • ye thats why im saying it, i have 1. u can see other people on youtube doing it aswell. it doesnt go out of tune

  • does anyone know the name of the colour of the jimmy page les paul? im buying a les paul next month and i love that colour

  • heritage cherry burst (i think)

  • I want that

  • He used a Tele on Rock and Roll too, right?

  • what color is the finish??

  • sunburst..

  • To be precise, that's an aged cherry sunburst.

What I need to know is the pick ups!

  • custom page burstbuckers

  • heartbreaker

  • It's based on Jimmy's #1 which many historians belive was a 58 les paul. it had gold grover tuners. a very Page like humbucker

is the Dimarzio Super Distortion, Jimmy used this in the uncoverd bridge section from 72 to the present...now he uses the burstbuckers

and yes you can by them from gibson seperately. I still like the Dimarzio Better. and there about 100.00 bucks less than the burstbuckers. If you wanna sound like Page....practice it will help better then new pickups.

  • dont give me thumbs down if im wrong.. im only 12 but is that a lp custom?

  • no, he played a standard, pretty sure, almost.....

  • that's what I thought but it just looked a bit like a custom :p

  • its a custom since it's a reissue

  • #1 is the 58 #2 is the 59

  • didn't he buy #2 from Joe Walsh of The Eagles?

  • no, walsh gave it to him as a gift.

  • ah thanks for the clarification.

  • Page was a genius in the studio...His playing was sloppy. Did you know the solo on Stairway to Heaven was done on a Telecaster...Not a Les Paul.

  • But when he usually plays it its on the double necked EDS-1275

  • only live though.

the studio version was recorded on a 12-string acoustic, and yes a tele.

  • Black Beauty is his signature - Gibson is doing a reissue right now.

  • the 58 is his number 1, the 59 is his number 2...he barely ever used the black beauty

  • Yeah cause it got stolen.

  • true, but his burst were always his favorite guitars.

  • what are the pickups on that?

  • jimmy page signature burstbuckers

  • are u able to buy them anywhere. thatd be awesome if i could put em on my les paul

  • nope, you can't.

    I know, it sucks. T_T

  • you realize that he actualy made his own les paul.its pritty much a black beauty with a whammy bar and 3 pick ups so you cant realy say this is his signature model, this one is more of les paul's gutiar.

  • ok youve awakened the keeper of all page lore. and he is angry. the stairway solo was on a tele. however the heartbreaker solo was on a les paul marshall combo, as most of the LZ2. A Les Paul Black Beauty(which was later stolen) and 100w marshals.

  • Dats wat I say I say...

  • HAHAHA! Teach us, master...! In the name of Page, we want to become pagiologists.

  • ok ok...lesson#1 page trivia. jimmy page got so wasted one time he climbed out of the window of a building 30 stories up and sat on an air conditioning unit and looked out over the city...failing to keep in mind that a stiff breeze could send him to his death.

  • what a legend

  • lol,, thats a BAD cutting job on the guitar lol

  • I can never tell the difference between JP's #1 and #2 les pauls... If someone would kindly explain it to me???

  • Jimmy's two pickups are different. I don't know much else.

  • thanks

  • i believe the #1 is his '59, and his #2 is his '58 model.

  • really, i thought it was the other way around.... but they look exactly the same anyways, lol

  • .........This solo is played on a Fender Tele. You dont know what your talking about obviously!! Does your boyfriend play?

  • "Page also disclosed to Guitar World that this song in general, and the a capella solo in particular, was the first recorded instance of his famous Gibson Les Paul/Marshall Stack combination" Do u know what ur talking about... obviously not... judging by your comment your probably some arrogant kid or an old guitar snob...

  • .....321beep321, Im neither an arrogant kid, nor guitar snob, I just know my facts about Led Zep, and it is well known to those that know about LZ that the solo to Stairway was recorded on a Tele. The main song was recorded at Headley Grange , but Page went back to Island studios in London to record the solo, which he did 2 takes,on a Fender Telecaster!! Do you know what you are talking about? Judging by your comment you are probably some arrogant twat.Know your stuff before starting an argument

  • mjd, you are correct sir!!! Trying to remember, was it a powder blue Tele? But yes it was recorded on a Fender Telecaster.

  • atomphx, the Tele was a `58 given to Jimmy by Jeff Beck. In `67 Page had it painted in psychedelic colours and used on LZ1 and some early tours. He had a cream coloured Tele also, but I dont remember a blue Tele, but he did have a `76 Lake Placid Blue strat

  • Yeah, I remember reading about that many moons ago. The reason I thought it was a light blue, was an old B/W vid, I saw, with him playing the Tele, and guessed it was that color from that. Thanks for that info, appreciate that.

  • correction he recorded 3 solos not 2

  • ...your right, it was 3 takes. My mistake, it was a long time ago!!

  • That solo was Page's Telecaster.

  • Wasn't Jimmy Page's sig les paul a root beer

  • lolol

  • That was probably a Fender Tele, not a Les Paul on that recording

  • lol!!! should i say "retard"?

  • how can i remove my comment? ^^

  • ....you are right it was a tele. Jimmy used a tele for allof LZ 1 and some of LZ 2, and im sure the solo for Stairway was recorded on a tele!

  • Yes, the solo for Stairway WAS in fact on a tele.

  • Really?

  • Really, really.

  • God of the Les Paul. Long live Jimmy Page.

  • But the guitarstuff on the vid isn´t a Les Paul right? Think it sounds more singelcoil, if I´m not too far out.

  • ones for sale on ebay

  • what I would give to go near that guitar! Man! Long Live Jimmy Page!

  • what a guitar!! long live the genius of jimmy page
