People are being too harsh. It made perfect sense, you just had to use your mind. The last season was tricky and difficult to understand, I had to watch it twice. But I got it. Lost is the greatest show ever made. It requires you to think.
I was a faithful follower of LOST and I STILL can't believe this show ended the way it did. The final season was a joke. It was rushed, it made no sense, and it had absolutely NOTHING to do with the rest of the series. I agree with kingstonlj, this was probably not the original intended ending. I want the last six years of my god damn life back.
I think that pretty much says it all. 95% of the people who didnt like the final season/episode is because they didnt understand it. What a shame. The show does make sense, but it really requires you to think alot about it, which is one of the reasons why it is so awesome!

Every season has been like a piece of a jigsaw, only for the final season to leave pieces missing from the overall picture.
The show was clearly not meant to end at season six, but the writers were told it had to end, so they rushed a final season, and in doing so had to forsake important parts of the overall story.
The result is a mess and something that is very unsatisfying. I don't think it was the way the writers ideally wanted it to end, but they had no choice. What a waste.
@kingstonlj I agree with you, I just read that ABC wanted that final but the final was with locke/flocke destroying the island and in the flashsideways they don't remember thepast life in the island they just meet and have the happy life they always wished and the island finish being nothing so in that way we don't need get answers but ABC wanted that final that I think is very good but incomplete
@kingstonlj I couldn't have agreed with you more. I've watched the series finale again, and felt that although this is an "Ending" I don't think this is the exact ending that they wanted. I believe that in a few years form now Damon Lindeloff and Carlton Cruse are going to be sitting together and say " Shit! We should have done that as the ending instead of this" nonetheless it was a great show that will be watched from years to come. But sometimes you gotta let go and except.
Well i just watched it and I thought it was fantastic. Although I am sure most of us had a suspicion that they were already dead, it was very well rounded off between all the characters. Very moving scenes with the blurred lit flashbacks had a few tears well up if i am honest. No religion was singled out, they all were represented when Jack walked through the church, the stained window had many religious signs, also the picture of Krishna too.
I for one thought the writers did a fantastic job.
Alot of people I talk to seem to have a problem with the religious understones in the story, but I'm a sucker for that stuff! I feel one of the major themes of Lost was always about coming to terms with both science and faith , and finding room for both. The time travel stuff was pure sci-fi, but Jacob and MIB were obviously representations of God and the Devil. When Jack drank the water that Jacob "blessed", he was becoming the "Jesus" of the island. I found it interesting.
@kelsmart Exactly! This was the true test between Science and Faith. Like you said, the island is both. Time-traveling, the Swan Station (AKA The "Hatch") with the electromagnetism was PURE science. But jacob and the man in black were both faith or like you said god and the devil of the island.
Like they always said, the island was what kept hell from unleashing to the world. Hell was the man in black. Jacob was god who kept the man in black ON the island by forcing him to never leave :)
Watch the episode again, maybe you will understand that the "flashsides" only are the "limbo" thing, they are all dead there and we don't how much time (maybe thousands of years) it has passed since the Island envent, which, by the way, ACTUALLY HAPPENED! So, intead of calling other people morons, watch it again and maybe your brain will start to run.

ahhh even after watching every single season of LOST on Hulu in a matter of 1 month it still feels as if I have been watching it for years. Man the finale was so great and sad. The message of the ending I think is to do whats best for you, respect others... help them, protect them and redeem yourself. All in all as Jimmy Kimmel said this show was focused on Jack showing that the everything we saw in the show was a test in his life and he passed and thats why he went to heaven or whatever it was.
WILL YOU GO TO HEAVEN? Here is a quick test, have you ever told a lie? Have you ever stolen something? Jesus said if you look at a person with lust(sexual thought), you commit adultery in the heart. If you have done these things, you are heading for Hell. That is not Gods will. God sent Jesus to take the punishment on the cross for our sins, so that if you repent(turn away from sin) and trust in Jesus as your lord and savior, God will forgive every sin you ever committed and grant you Heaven.
It was a good ending a little too poetic and emotional but they could put some ending that could actually had something to do with the flow of the story as we know it and not something that didn't have anything to do with it it was a little random.
The only good thing about this is that all the Lost theories won't get deleted since we don't have a REAL answer. Really disappointing and the heaven part is ridiculous,cliché and really overplayed. Yuck.
The island was real--the flash sideways was after they had all died (at different times in their lives) and they all found each other again before they moved on. Basically it was kind of like the ending of Titanic when the old woman died and met everyone else back on the boat.

Hurley said to Ben"you were a good number two," and Ben said "you were a good number one" this shows that both lived their life when Jack died.

I only watched the finale to see what cop out ending they were going to throw at us, I gave up on this show in season 3 when I realized it was just twist after twist going nowhere. Fine, they're dead...emotional ending with lots of reunions..great, but it doesn't make up for all the time wasted on now-irrelevant storylines like punching numbers and polar bears and dharma initiative and etc etc etc etc.
i never watched this and when i saw a bear show up..that was just about the 30mins. of my life i cant get back. But, i came to give it a good goodbaye and watched the ending. Kool and easy to see the death angle and sitting in purge state until u are ready to move on! all of then died and were ready to move on! I feel one of the major themes of Lost was always about coming to terms with both science and faith , and finding room for both. The time travel stuff was pure sci-fi, but Jacob and MIB were obviously representations of God and the Devil. When Jack drank the water that Jacob "blessed", he was becoming the "Jesus" of the island. I found it interesting.

@kelsmart Exactly! This was the true test between Science and Faith. Like you said, the island is both. Time-traveling, the Swan Station (AKA The "Hatch") with the electromagnetism was PURE science. But jacob and the man in black were both faith or like you said god and the devil of the island.
Like they always said, the island was what kept hell from unleashing to the world. Hell was the man in black. Jacob was god who kept the man in black ON the island by forcing him to never leave :)

Watch the episode again, maybe you will understand that the "flashsides" only are the "limbo" thing, they are all dead there and we don't how much time (maybe thousands of years) it has passed since the Island envent, which, by the way, ACTUALLY HAPPENED! ahhh even after watching every single season of LOST on Hulu in a matter of 1 month it still feels as if I have been watching it for years. Man the finale was so great and sad. The message of the ending I think is to do whats best for you, respect others... help them, protect them and redeem yourself. All in all as Jimmy Kimmel said this show was focused on Jack showing that the everything we saw in the show was a test in his life and he passed and thats why he went to heaven or whatever it was.

The island was real--the flash sideways was after they had all died (at different times in their lives) and they all found each other again before they moved on. Basically it was kind of like the ending of Titanic when the old woman died and met everyone else back on the boat.

So everything they have ever done on the island, did happen, that was their life, they lived it as long as they was supposed to, and then they died, but the other reality can not be placed to the timeline anywhere, because time does not exist there

@seven47katana Christian states that everything that they experienced was real except for events in the sideflashe as this is a place without time where all the characters who have died meet up.
Some died before Jack (Boone, Shannon, Charlie etc.) some died after Jack (Kate, Rose, Sawyer etc.) and some died a LONG time after (Hurley as new Jacob).
Hurley said to Ben"you were a good number two," and Ben said "you were a good number one" this shows that both lived their life when Jack died.

I only watched the finale to see what cop out ending they were going to throw at us, I gave up on this show in season 3 when I realized it was just twist after twist going nowhere. Fine, they're dead...emotional ending with lots of reunions..great, but it doesn't make up for all the time wasted on now-irrelevant storylines like punching numbers and polar bears and dharma initiative and etc etc etc etc.

Kool and easy to see the death angle and sitting in purge state until u are ready to move on! all of then died and were ready to move on! @luchianoxxx Hi. AXN are showing The End this Tuesday (25th of May) at 10pm to 11pm. On the same day, on Tuesday the 25th they are showing What They Died for at 3pm in the afternoon.
Or, if you want to see it earlier, AXN are showing What They Died For at 9pm tomorrow (Sunday 23 of May) night.
