Oh! Pardon me. Now they admit that Neptune is a terrestrial planet and does have a surface. Not too long ago, the scientific community dogmatically stated that Neptune was just another "gas" giant. I suspect they will eventually come to understand that all the other planets have surfaces of some kind maybe hundreds of miles beneath all the apparent gases much like a few miles into the Earth's atmosphere. Former conclusions about Neptune were obviously speculative based upon faulty assumptions.

Cosmologists often make godlike pronouncements and statements about the outer planets which few people dare to question. If Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune, and Uranus are "gas" giants with no real solid surface, then tell me how did comet Shoemaker Levy crash into Jupiter (a giant ball of gas) leaving a permanent change upon a surface of just gas? How can anything crash into gases and make an observable change upon something that has no solid substance? Will someone please respond?

@MrTeamLeader92 Discovered in 1846 and its orbit is 164.75 earth years long, so it just finished its first orbit since discovery 1.25 years ago. I suppose it depends when you heard it. If you heard it 2 years ago then they would be correct.

there are several Kuiper Belt objects that also fit the definition of a dwarf planet, and one particular object is even larger than Pluto, so I'm looking forward to what New Horizons will discover.

@emurray7779311 I found it on my PC. Apparently every PC has this song, however I found it on my PC which is years old. This laptop is new, and doesn't have this song that I can find but it has 3 others. Have a look by going to My Computer > Local Disk C > Users > Public > Public Music > Sample Music. But I can't remember the exact steps to find it on an older PC. xx

I think that gas planets too have a surface because need a core with mass to hold the gas atmosphere "magnetic field and enough gravity".The best if we can send a spacecraft which can scan far better this planets after we see that what is more real.Because when this facts writed the science was lower level about it.

@SazzleT400 At 7:50 you said Neptune is a terrestrial that has a land to stand on. This is not true. Neptune is a gas giant that has no land to stand on - none of the gas giants do. It's not even near any terestrial planet. Neptune is now the furthest planet from the sun where as the terestrial are the four closests to the sun - Mercury, Venus, Earth and mars. The moon, Io and Europa are terestrial in nature but are moons.

This is a half truth, the correct statement would be gas giants have no "definable" surface. All gas giants are believed to have a solid core. And with suffient mass the gasious elements can easily be compressed into a liquid or solid states. Current theory is Jupiter has a rocky core and a surface composed of layers of solid and liquid matallic hydrogen.

@phrooster123 phrooster, did you know, every planet has a surface. Neptune, Saturn, Jupiter, and Uranus' atmosphere is covered in gas. There is no such thing as a planet with no surface, as far as we, humans, know of. If there wasn't a surface it wouldn't be revolving around the sun. I think you should look in a science book, NASA website, or the ESA website.

m8 i loved every minute of every part there is however just one other planet you forgot to mention and its name is Planet X or as the sumerians called it Nibiru over 5,000 or less years ago and it takes 3,600 years to make an orbit around the sun and an unusual fact is that there used to be a cilivisation on it called the anunaki who came here everytime nibiru did its passing as the sumerians sayand on its way here and might be here by 21 December 2012 perhaps we will meet these anunaki

I'm curious as to how you can claim Umbriel is tidally locked (or phase locked as you used in previous vids) with Uranus showing only one side to its planet, but still claim a day on Umbriel is 4.14 earth days long. Can an object that does not rotate have a measureable day?

And yes one day on Umbriel is 4.14 earth days long, that's because it takes 4.14 earth days to orbit Uranus. Which obviously at some point it will be on the bright side of Uranus. Excuse me, but Uranus is NOT a terrestrial planet, it is a Gas giant, made primarily of Hydrogen, Helium, Methane and ammonia 'ices', same as Neptune. Both Neptune and Uranus are sometimes referred to as the Ice Giants

Nice video, however, Uranus and Neptune are Inaccurately described as terrestrial planets. They are in fact ice giants, a sub-class of gas giants, due to the fact is that they are made up of slightly heavier elements
