  • got that same key chain

  • he just burnt 20 bucks in gas revin the motor

  • that 454 might look bad! but you cant kill them!! very strong!

  • I think the 68 is the prettiest of all the Impalas ever made. I have a 68 Caprice that I am restoring with the original 327, 275 horsepower engine in it. It had been sitting in the woods for 16 years and after dragging it out and putting a battery in it, it started right up. It has the hideaway headlights which is a bonus. I would love to have the big block like you have, but the 327 isn't bad since it was built and pushes a decent 333 hp (dynoed).

  • would a 454 do well with a 69 four door hard top Caprice?? it still has the 350 runs good but m wondering if it would run better with the 454 big block under the hood

  • those motors pull 5000 pounds like nothing at all. you'd have some fun with a 454 in your car. Im trying to swap the 350 in mine to a 454.

  • What make and model of headers did ya use? I'm doing the same swap on a friends this summer.

    Thanks!

  • They're Hedmans. I matched them to the '68 Impala at a local speed and offroad store. I just had them order the headers for the '68 with the 427 big block option. Absolutely perfect fit with the 454. They're full, long headers. Shorty headers will not fit, since the power steering box is in a crappy position relative to the exhaust ports. Good luck. A 454 is the perfect size engine for these old boats.

  • The swap is finally done. Learned alot, still some beautification to go.

For anyone considering a SB to BB swap: Do it. Now. Crazy fun.

  • amazing =)
