@Mazic22 Hello, thanks for watching! I used Adobe Lightroom to process this image. I used a couple of techniques to enhance the colors and details of the rock and sky. Thanks again!
Yes, THANK YOU for these videos. You are a natural born teacher and easy to learn from. I am an amateur photographer, still learning and relearning and these videos are the bomb! You do a fantastic job. Thanks again.
Thank you so much for these tutorials!!! I'm taking my first photojournalism class in college but I had never taken any photography class before, so I was so nervous about heading to class with no clue about manual cameras! :D
Had to log in just to say thank you for your tutorials. I never really understood much from reading on the internet and watching someone on youtube just talking about it. But your videos with those creative pop ups and precise explanation, just made things a lot clearer for me. Now I'm gonna enjoy my DSLR even more. Keep posting!
Great Job - keep the vids coming! I just got a Canon 7D for Christmas so i'm learning everything there is too learn about my camera and photography. I used to be a point/shoot person but i'm seeing the benefits of using Manual mode!
@bpk1n9 7D...AWESOME! Sorry for the late response, hope you've had an awesome 3 weeks with your camera. If you haven't already, make sure you follow me on Facebook / KreativeVueTVdotCOM and share your pictures there. All the best to you!
Summer has rolled around and with holidays planned, it's a perfect time to pick up my SX30 IS (not quite a SLR but handy nevertheless) again. So have watched your first three videos and it's great refresher and inspiration. :)
Thank you for this excellent, concise and to-the-point tutorial!! I am buying a Canon T3i with a EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS lens for my wife and I this Christmas, and we're both looking forward to taking much better pictures :) Until now i had no clear understanding of these 3 settings.
Thank you soo much for ur response about the lens for a t3i :) im following all ur episodes in order bc i just recently bought my canon t3i and have NO idea how to use it properly!!: / my question for this episode is where exactly will i find the histogram i see your other responses but i dont quite understand. thank you soo much for your time! & THANK YOU FOR SUCH GREAT VIDEOS.
To view the Histogram press the button to view your pictures on the camera (looks like a blue "Play" button on the back of the camera). Once you are looking at a preview of your picture press the "Disp" button to cycle through some options. One of those Display Options will include the Histrogram. You should see a small version of your photo and beside it the photo's Historgram. Good luck!
can u please give an example on as to when to use the different kind of metering modes? i tried each one on the same object and they all seem to look the same. thanks
@UPPERECHELONTV No, you'll have to access your histogram once you've taken your shot by pushing the play button, and I believe by also hitting your "Display" button until your histogram pops up. Don't have the T3i in front of me so I am going by memory. Also, I believe you can acces your histogram in "Live View Mode". Lemme know if this helps.
wow exactly the type of tutorial i need! thanks so far for all the videos. i still have to finish them and i hope you continue making more. already subscribed! i know it's not a tutorial on videos so who cares about sound, etc. lol. people have to understand you're guiding beginners not experts so who cares how the sound is. i'm working with a t2i 50mm 1.4 and your videos are helping a lot! thanks.
@kaokoys Thanks for the comment and support...really appreciate it!!! working on the 4th one this week - Exposure Compensation. I busted my 50 1.4 and currently fixing it right now. Hopefully it'll be good as new in a couple of weeks. Would be honored if you could jump on my Facebook page and post your pics there and share with the people how you accomplish your shots! Thanks again!!!
@sabbin2293 My apologies for getting back to you so late. Really, every kind of photography is suitable for your t3i. As you become more seasoned you may find certain limitations about your camera that you may prompt you to consider purchasing a camera with more advanced features. Features such as a 19pt AF system, 8fps, bigger sensor be better low ligt shooting, etc. Hope this help, let me know if you need more clarification. thank you!
Good discussion & you are correct on your percentages 9% & 3% respectively. (reference Blue Crane Canon DVD Training videos). Have you seen 3 clipping peaks in center of the histogram? Also, is clipping truly repairable in post processing? Commentary was good but you may want to investigate your mic/audio edits for wind screening & volume drops/background voices/noise as heard. Thanks!
@revup67 Thanks for your feedback. However, I'd like to kindly point out the clipping peaks you may be seeing are Lightrooms interpretation of the histogram information imported from the camera into LR. Unfortunately, they do not always agree! What is properly exposed in the camera may show under/overexposed in LR's Histogram. As for the sound...we'll, I couldn't kick the other voices off the set as they were climbing a rock and we forgot the Dead Cat for the mic. Thanks again for your comment!
@KreativeVueTV actually, to be more specific, the reference I made was to the Histogram on the playback of the EOS 7D. 3 tall peaks, centered that have clipped. Just curious if this was a concern as they edges of histogram were fine. Don't use Lightroom but rather ACDSee Pro 3. Personally I found the UI much better with same level of control.
As far as your question to repairing clipped images, it is a difficult question to answer. Let me explain...there are times when you may want an image to be over/under exposed and never intend to repair it in post. The trick is to avoid repairing clipped images by referencing your cameras histogram before and after your shots. However, I will, with reservation, say yes to your question IF clipping is minimal. In this case there are a few techniques that can be applied to salvage your image.
@jr7554 Hello, seems as though you've answered your own question, but I will provide you some food for thought. If you anticipate learning quickly and have the extra cash to dish out on a 7D, then I would strongly suggest you get one. T3i, although an EXCELLENT camera, does have it's limitations that more advanced photographers may find a little constricting. For the record, the T3i can fulfill even the advanced photographers needs, just depends on what kind of photography you'll be doing. Thx!
@WithinArabic...Yes it does. Although I'm not exactly sure how to access it. It should be available in real time in "Live View" mode by pressing the info button until you see it on your screen. I may be wrong so you may have to navigate a little. another way to view your historgram is by reviewing your images and pressing the info button until you see the histogram as well as all the setting used to take that image. Please let me know if this helps. Thanks!
Great video! I am 14 and am really interested in photography and just bought the t3i which drained my bank account even on sale ugh anyways I would love to see more videos even though this summer I'm taking some classes.
@npowie Thanks for the support! Congratulation on your classes, your gonna love em!!! I'm working on a couple of more vids before the end of summer. Unfortunately time isn't always on my side, but I'm pushin. Keep up the good work and have fun with your T3i!!!
That is definitively a great place to visit and photograph. I've been to Ryan Mountain Hiking trail (3-4 hours). It is the highest mountain in the park. Great panorama pictures...
@YeroProjects ...I'm looking to go back in a few weeks. This is an awesome place to do portrait photography as well. I will attempt to visit where you have, unfortunately I'm not that adventurous. LOL! Thanks for the support!!!
@OFFICIALBRANNEWMUSIC...Thanks for the comment!!! I use Final Cut Pro to edit my videos. Although sometimes (rarely) I use iMovie 11. The font you are seeking is a standard Arial font...bolded. The smaller words placed on top of the big words is called Orator Std (i think the "STD" stands for standard...I hope). Thanks for watching and subbing!!!
@iFloridaAllStar Glad that you found this helpful! I loved shooting with the D7000, EXCELLENT choice!!! If you have a moment, share some of your pics, would love to see them! All the best and have fun with your new D7000!!!
@brijeshtheonly1985...Hello, to answer your question - there is no other metering mode available on the 7D. The 'Matrix' metering mode is usually available on newer nikon cameras. This mode is similar to that of the evaluative mode. The only difference is this mode breaks up the seen into 4 zones and meters each one individually to give a more accurate exposure of the entire sceen. I will post a followup video that will demonstrate how and when to use all of these functions. Thanks for watching!
