  • Hi! It looks good, just try to pull up through your knees. That's really important. it almost looks like you're knuckling right where the toes bend. This is hard stuff! Keep it up:)

  • They look really nice on your feet. You will want to continue or start doing exercises with a thereband to keep your feet strong. You could also alternate between those and a traditional shoe to keep your strength. I wore Gaynors (which I disliked) for 3 months and my feet were so week when I went back to my chacotts that I had to extra work at home.

  • A bit big even if you were wearing jells also this is cinda weird but do you live on aderondek road I can't spell it but it has a pond on the other side of the street?

  • Flat feet?? Me too. :P It makes it really hard to get over the box! Try to straighten your knees also.

  • you need to get more over the box

  • When you r on point make sure to rlly stretch those legs to get that beautiful arch.

  • they should not be that big, even without the gel pads.. also.. why wear gel pads with gaynors?? they dont need them.. i agree with other commenters - try traditional pointe shoes until you build up the strength..

  • It looks like they have really flexable shanks

  • Not to be mean. but whoever put you on pointe isn't the brightest crayon in the box.

  • Don't let yourself sink into the shoes

I have these as well and yes they are weird shoes. A lot of people I dance with have looked at them and commented as to how difference they are. Different material and sizes from the Capezio shoes they use (I can't stand Crap-ezios) I find these shoes really comfortable so much that I rarely us padding with them. But no, if you are a beginner, you need shoes that will allow you strengthen and not do all of the work for you

  • How old were u when u got these??:)

  • You should work on pointing your ankles, straightening your knees (think of pulling up and lengthening the spaces behind your knees) and it is clear that you are letting your core loose. Engage your core muscles. Try your best to stay conscious of winging your feet and not letting them sickle. Best wishes to you!

  • maybe you need the supple ones! i have those, i have kinda high arches though, but my feet are REALLY REALLY STRONG! you have nice ankles! maybe a supple shank works for ya!

  • You need to point your ankles.

  • i have a blue bag :)

  • @NefertitiNemesis I have a green. They r new and they hurt so bad!!!

  • I've got gaynor's too! and I really like them!! Mines fit perfectly! My bag was green.

  • they seem harder to point with.

  • they look kinda loose on the heel mine do too but my shoe fitter lady said i have shallow heels ( shallow heel means it goes diagonal from the top to bottom )

  • good pointe work, although I like you in the capezios better... but I also don't like Gaynor Minden either so.... GOOD WORK!!!!!

  • your feet look just like mine!!

  • work on rolling through demi pointe to help make the shoe a little more broken in to your foot. and fifth position needs to be way tighter.but otherwise good job

  • Hello! I would take these pointe shoes, but I do not know what number to take. Can you recommend taking the number knowing that you put on 38-39? You have that number? Fit small or large compared to other pointe shoes? I hope you answer me ...

  • they look nice on you

  • @MsBerryMary meeeee too!

  • Gaynor Mindens are GREAT shoes. But students shouldn`t use them. They do all the work for you. The reason why they`re so bouncy is because they give you so much support that they`re pretty much doing everything for you so you don`t need to pull up. I`d recommend Russian Pointes or Grishkos for you because you have nice and narrow, strong feet. Good luck.

  • hi uh are gaynor mindens soft and padded enough to not wear ouch pouches cause i watched a video here on youtube and they said it was super padded i just wanted to make sure cause i might buy them

  • @TheAwsometheatergurl I have Gaynors and if you get them theres a padding in them already i dont use ouch pouches i use a lambs wool padding but i dont use it often..... If you do get them just make sure that you have a ouch pouch or any other padding with you when you use them just in case ;)

  • @TheAwsometheatergurl They are expensive, 96 pounds a pair, and that's without any extras! Make sure that you are absolutely positive that you want them before you go out and buy.

  • GILLIAN MURPHY wears these shoes!

  • WOW!! thse look Amazing on you!!! I am getting Pointe shoes soon, any ideas what kind I should get first? I don't know what best :(

  • @dancergirlmh to me gaynor midens are the best cuz they don't hurt me but thats only me. i think you should try some bloch brands too

  • @dancergirlmh I'll keep that in mind!

  • I got mine in a yellow bag too! I love them so so so much!!!!

  • Which is the best pointe shoe brand ?

  • they look realyy thin, like i can't explain it but flat they look weeird.

  • Just got my new Gaynor's i love them! I got a yellow bag too! x

  • although these might be much more comfortable, i liked you capezios much better. these seem to be pushing you back so you cant get over the box enough. also, i strongly disagree with having students wear gaynor mindens because they help you do the work too much. my friend had a pair then switched back to blochs, and she was unable to roll through the shoes because her old ones did that for her. I suggest you go back to capezios. ur feet will get stronger, and they look much prettier on you.

  • Ihad solos last year this I have Russian pointe and I figured that Russia are kinda like wht u have they r " comfy" they r to easy I want my solos back!!!!!!!!!!

  • I like your capezio's better ! They are less shiny but those great on your feet !

  • Gaynors should not be for students, or for many people in general. They just look terrible on most people. Even though they are "comfy" or don't hurt, pointe shoes weren't meant to be comfortable. From your video, it looks like you can't get over your box.

  • gaynor minden é linda demais, reconhece-se que é gaynor de longe!

  • this shoes just too perfect! i love them!

    nice vid. :)

  • They are okay but i think i like your capezio's better?

  • they don't hurt right?

  • I got the same shoes as you! Extra flex in the yellow bag. I like them. I can still roll through my feet.

  • @MsBerryMary mine is green

  • i thihnk your shoes may be a bit too big...i notice some extra space near your heel, and that can be really dangerous. but your pointe work and your shoes are quite lovely!

  • nice feet =)

  • @MsBerryMary I got yellow too!

  • mine are yellow 2...btw..how do you sew the ribbons and elastic on? does it go through the satin? kinda in a fix here...

  • @azian0joo me too!!

  • Gaynors are known for their silence, so I think it's your floor that's suuuper noisy. Especially in your capezio contempura video your shoes were suuuper LOUD!!

  • so soft

  • i think the box is too soft because you are sinking in your pointe shoes but besides that not bad!

  • I believe she's sinking into her shoes because she's not wearing all of the padidng that she tried on originally with the shoe :)

  • gosh

    im sorry

i caant look at your feet

    stop currling your toees! yuck

    aand you through medatarsal PLEASEE!

  • i think you should roll up more to get on point. it should be really easy in gaynors

  • Au contraire :) The way Gaynors are made actually make it harder to roll up. They're actually meant for springing up onto pointe, which is part of Italian technique.

  • When watchin a video on here of how Gaynors are made, it shows how they make it easier to roll from demi pointe to pointe

  • It is easier, but because Gaynors have a tendency to "pop" you up on pointe (which is why you hear so many people talk about how they help you up onto your boxes). It's difficult to make a smooth transition from demi pointe to pointe without that "popping" feeling. I fit pointe shoes, and I've been wearing Gaynors for some time, so I know first hand :)

  • I just this week bought a pair of Gaynors and found it alot easier than the likes of bloch to roll up through demi pointe especially with the curved box. Everyone has their own opinion i guess and this is just mine.

  • Can I ask Oliviainyourpants or anyone out there who has Gaynors... how did u sew the ribbons onto them?? I did it with great difficulty and did not sew elastics on due to it being so hard. This I found is the only downfall of the shoe.

  • I had the worst time sewing ribbon and elastic on my gaynors mindens, I broke multiple needles >=I I don't think they are worth it. I just got my first Capezios and they are so easy to sew after the gaynors haha. I don't like gaynor mindens because they are very easy to sink into and I think they are ugly up on pointe (especially mine!)

  • Uhm you still need more work

  • Are gaynors better? I was going to get gaynors but i chose heritages because they fit better

  • in my opinion, they don't support your foot very well. i tried them on and it felt like i was going over the box. kinda hurt too. but they do make your feet look a lot prettier.

  • im getting gaynors soon...i have had 3 different pairs since i started and none have been as good and comfortable at the the gaynor mindens

  • I think the Capezio's look better on your feet. But these may just look awkward because you didn't have your gel pads in when it was filmed. So keep dancing, love!

  • hmm.. personally i like the capezio pointe shoes better :]

they look soo much better on your feet ! and yeah you have really nice feet so i would go with the capezio ones not GM :D ( but that's only what i think, so you might have another opinion ^-^ )

but good luck and happy dancing ! :D

  • this was posted on my b-day

  • Hello :) I would just like to give you some good advice!

Work on your insteps and metatarsols (not quite sure on how you spell that!). That will strenghten your feet and help you get high arches. Flex your ankle when you rise on pointe. Strech your knees when you rise in 1st position and break those pointe shoes in!! I like Gaynor Minden a lot and if you work well with them, you will go very far...!! ;) xxo

  • the shank isn't nice looking to me

  • ya me to!!!

  • @tdsmeg4 i dont think it looks good at all... to tell you the truth those were made for professional dancers so that they didn't have to work a lot to break them in, NOT for dancers like she and others... ones who take classes and stuff. the sad thing is, is that the professional dancers, well most of them dont use them at all

  • Wow, Doesnt it hurt with out your gel pads????

  • This was painful to watch.

    Please get over you box...

    Don't buy GM

  • agreed

  • Why not GM? I have GM :O I want Capezio Contempora :P

  • i really dont like gaynor mindens because they dont push you to have to get over that box and they dont strenghen your feet because they are pre-broken in

  • actually.. it depends on your feet. i just got gaynors with an extraflex shank and they really push me over my box and it makes me look like i have gorgeous arches even though i don't. I love them!

  • nice box! <3 Break them in, bit I like those!

  • they don't look very good on you i think the capezio looks better

  • Hey! You have Capezio too! Right? I love both of them! I think if you're a good dancer you'll always be a good dancer. The shoes are just the other one thing! You can't dance if you just have the best shoes in the world! Right?

  • you should try a different brand but if those work go for it except it would really help u to try different ones

  • Hey guys- if any of you could go chceck out my pointe videos and let me know what you think, I'd appreciate it! I am just starting and love advice and comments on what I do well and what I need to improve! Thanks :D

  • wait....are you holding on the stair railing?!? no cheating!! lol jk it's okay but try without the rail

  • they look great, u should try though on your left foot particularly to pointe ur foot or ankle more as not you are just pointing your toes especially when in 5th

  • if you bend your knee's then you could hurt yourself while on pointe.. try getting over the box with straight knees

  • Have ever though of doing toetap.

  • does extra flex already come broken in???

  • Yes, they have different types, some are broken in and some are not.

  • no, they are just different strenghts

some are hard, like new shoes or a shoe with a hard shank, for girls with strong feet

some are like "slightly warn" or "broken in" or "completely dead". i know some girls who wear GM regularly, but wear different shank strengths for performances and for class - they wear the softest or the 2nd softest for performances, so they get a broken in shoe without dirtying them and wearing them out.

they also correspond to arch strength and size.

  • Well that is what I meant, I guess I didn't say it quite right sorry.

  • are you holding the stair railing???

  • You need to make sure to go over your boxes and dont bend you knees.

    Otherwise good ballet technique.

  • they look like you can just bend them

  • you seem to not be going over properly .

it would be lovely if you would stretch your ankles more .

    <3 .

  • beautiful pointe

  • u shudent be pushin down into the floor..

    pointe shoes arent magic shoes..

u shd still use ur feet to get ovr the toe box .. and even thou i cant see you knees i kno your bendin them..

  • What's up with everyone calling GM's cheater shoes? I agree with most people that you definitely shouldn't start with them, but lots of amazing dancers wear GM's, namely Alina Cojocaru, Gillian Murphy, and Natalia Ospiova. If they wear cheater shoes, then that makes them cheater ballerinas? These ladies are the best in the whole world and they wear GM's.

  • agreed

    also alina somova :)

  • gaynor mindens are okay,

but u really have to try them on at the store.

bc on line their chart for fitting is okay but you can never be sure if you like them.

  • but there kind of big looking

  • those look alot better on you than the capezio.

  • I have a few questions because i'm about to go on pointe and i need to know about gaynor mindens. With maynor mindens do u need ribbons? Can u have ribbons? I have heard that they are comterable is that true? Is it better just to buy regular pointe shoes? If so what kind? Lastly do you recommend them? If not why? Asked to anyone who sees this. ANSWER BACK ON MY PAGE BECAUSE I WILL FROGET THIS EXACT VIDEO! I will be asking other people just to get a group result.

  • hahaha i agree!

  • ok for the last time gaynors are amazing they arnt cheater shoes at all

  • I believe it a matter of opinion. xoxo

  • I really don't believe in Gaynor Midens....:( sorry but they are soooo cheater shoes it makes me sick. Sorry that sounds so mean :'(

  • I have thesee!

They're amazing, and very comfortable. A lot better than capezios. (:

  • I know! I just bought some this afternoon, and I can wear them without padding! The woman who fitted me said that you get bruised toenails easily- is that true?

  • not for me it isn't...it doesn't even hurt for me. so no, no bruises for me :)

  • you have beautiful arches but GET OUT OF THOSE GAYNORS ! they may make your arches look good but they weaken your feet. they pop you up on pointe and stop you from rolling through going through demi pointe. hope this helps .

    :) hyper ballerina

  • spreading false, uncredited myth doesn not help anyone.

So I guess Tamara Rojo and Gillian Murphy have weak feet?

  • gaynor mindens are definitely the best for beginners, or anyone else!!! i had russian pointes, which i absolutely hated! and sanshas, which arent nearly as good as gaynors!!!!

  • Work on closing fully in second, and crossing your 5th. Also you look like your climbing up on pointe which you should never do.

  • You need to roll through demi pointe more when going up onto pointe..persnally i think ud do better with a supple shank as u seem like your struggling to go over onto pointe properly with bending your knees slightly...but the shoes looks good on your foot otherwise :)

  • How did you order your Gaynor Minden pointe shoes? I've only seen them available with a white sole. I like the beige/brown soles yours have, they look more traditional. They seem to be a good shoe for your very pretty feet!

  • I got them at a dance store near my school. They were like that, I didn't preorder them or anything. I like the brown soles too!

  • really?! wow i want to get GM pointe shoes... my capezio pointe shoes are ganna die...thanks:) now i know what brand to buy:)

  • wow nice feet... i think ill try those... my capezio pointe shoes are going to become dead soon:(. do you think i should try gaynor minden pointe shoes?

  • I think gaynor mindens are the prettiest, and most comfy pointe shoes! But after I used them, my arches became a bit weak...So you should have a back up pair at the very least!

  • turn out more on your right foot and push through your ankles more ,

    nice shoes x

  • queste scarpe sono sprecate sul tuo piede...

  • once you've releved up in first position, you tend to bend your knees. be sure to keep them straight. while keeping your inner thighs pulled up and your key muscles (core, back, butt, thighs, etc) tight, use your metatarsals to push your arches

  • uh, u don't get new shoes if the satin is worn off! DUH! its if the shoe is getting to weak! not on looks....

  • Get off the rail! You have a great potential and if you get off the rail your ability will increase 4x faster!

Try some pas de bourees with your hands on your hips to start.

  • are gaynor minden's too soft? i am gonna need a new pair of pointes VERY soon because my blochs are wearing out and i really like how gm's look but i heard they were really soft and i don't like a really soft shoe because i like my shoes to break in a little slower

  • you have been on pointe for only 4 months?? Haha take those Gaynor Mindens off your feet now. You still need to develope muscels and a better arch befor moving up to Gaynor Mindens. Since Gaynor Mindens basically do all the work for you. I should know i have been on pointe for 8 years. Just please please don't wear those for at LEAST 2 years.

  • Make sure you push all the way over on your boxes. Your doing great!!

  • Good... just try to point from the ankles next time:)

  • i love new pointe shoes!!! i've had five pairs in three years and its a lot easier with harder shoes!!

really good for only four months!!

  • lmfao......take those your feet. now.

  • Jesus! Please please please stop knuckling. But, besides that, they are nice.

  • you need to roll theoughyour feet more.... i ahve been en pointe for 2 years now and if u want i can give you some tips

  • few qestions. how long have you been doing ballet

how long till you got on pointe

and when did you start ballet??

    i like your shoes

    :D:D

    thanks

    xx

  • I've been practicng ballet for a year, and have been on pointe for 4 months. Thanks!

  • i think your capezios are prettier. but cool anyway

  • ahaha i have to say too, gaynors are good for someone who's been on for 4 months.

probably after you're really experienced on pointe it would be a lot easier since you would have strong feet and know what you like, but gaynors don't help new girls en pointe develop strong feet.

  • but just so you know, unless you are experienced and have REALLY strong feet, you're not going to get anywhere with gaynor mindens. I didn't say they were cheater shoes because they came pre arched. I can break in shoes during a barre, so thats not the problem. Its that you are always knuckling, you will never callous your feet, they don't necessarily look attractive, there are SO many more Gaynor related injuries and they are VERY pricey. But if you wanna try it, go for it.

  • I have never heard "knuckling" before please explainbecause it's probably something I fail in too..

  • cool!!!! im getting gaynor minden point shoes too!!!!!!!!!

  • how are they cheater shoes? they seem fine. just cause they come broken in doesn't mean you aren't working your feet. as long as u work through ur feet and shoes, its ok. question" is it easier to get over ur box in those, cuz i have trouble w/ that?

  • Thanks, everyone is hating Gaynors...They are really nice! After changing from capezio to gaynors, I got better in getting over my box!

  • Whats wrong with Gaynors?? I mean...everyone has an unique taste of shoes, and I think those shoes look just fine!!! How much did they cost?? Cuz I struggle with getting over my box sometimes...:P

  • They're pretty pricey. I got mine for $75.99.

  • so they come broken in? really?

    how? *confused*

  • they come broken in because they're prearched. You can choose how soft you want your shank to be too.

  • oooh cool X3

    okay thank you

  • OKAY...say no to gaynor mindens. They are the devils pointe shoes. Most horrific thing i have ever seen. And im sorry its not even you, but the shoes are not enhancing your talent at all. Not trying to be mean, but i cant even tell if your a talented dancer from this video. Seriously, you will never get anywhere with gaynors. Barely any company wants a girl who cheated her way through pointe classes. Sorry. Try a Freed =]

  • Well

    it is slightly her.

The reason this video and these shoes look like shite on her is because Gaynor's only look good on really really high arches.

  • htey look way to big!!!!

  • hey,

i was thinken of gettin gaynor mindons for my first pointe shoes but i hurd alot of ppl saying that they wreck ur feet! how do you think they are? are they easy to dance in?

    :P xx

  • I had capezio contemporas in the beginning, and compared to those, Gaynors feel like regular ballet slippers, all soft inside. :)

I like them a lot, you should definitely try them!

  • i would use regular shoes first before trying gaynors, so u can develop your foot strength

  • I have the Glisse Pro 2007s right now and I love them! Great shoe!!

  • thanks ill try them :]

  • PART 2:

ask someone to push them against the door(on the outside) and you (in the inside of the room or something) push them against the wall. did you understand? if you do, your shoes will get a lovely look and a nice arche. try it.

if you didn´t understood, tell me and I will try to explain you in a easy way

    bye

    TO: Lucky13You

  • beautiful shoes, a little too big?

  • maybe it's just me, but your shoes look a little big...

anyway, it doesn't look as if you're getting over your box enough.

I know everyone else is saying that you're not pulling up enough, but it doesn't look that bad to me....

  • Yeah its b/c I don't have on my gel cushions. When I put them on, they fit fine :)

  • ah. lucky. i just got new pointe shoes today, i tried gaynor mindens but my foot was too wide for them =[ i really like them though.

    but i got Bloch.

they're hard to break in [ for me they are ]. does anyone have any advice for breaking them in really well?

  • try to broke them in into a door!

let me explain. i´m portuguese but i´m going to try my best! pop up into point, then grab a pen and put it on the center of the arche. then take off the point but keep the pen in the place. now, you can take the pen and mark the place with your fingers. put the shoe on the door and close it.

  • PART 1:

  • check out the lisa howell videos on how to break in pointe shoes

  • Check out Lisa Howell's channel. She made a really helpful vid on breaking pointe shoes.

  • Oh my SOUL I didn't mean breaking I meant breaking IN those shoes. And I wanted to reply to Lucky13You.

  • hey, nice video, but your knuckling a lot and it look
