Apple is just another nasty company that's afraid of competition. This actually hurts Americans.
Look at the price that we pay for trying to "protect" American car companies. These motherfuckers shut down the factories in the US and open factories in foreign countries anyway (even though they receive bailout from the US government).
Let the customers make the decision, for God's sakes. Competition is a good thing. When japanese car companies first arrived at the US, they were demonized, too. But now guess what, the quality of these cars is not only ranked higher than American cars, these Japanese car companies also provide lots of jobs for Americans. I don't see why Americans should feel obligated to defend and protect Apple. Let's face the reality: American corporations do not care about Americans!
Mr.Bit Maybe the issue needs to be more focused on th US market. The US was far behind in the smartphone market. Even the archaic IPhone 1&2 were a succes, but did not appear internationally as they were outdated. HTC brought advanced phones at that time, but not in the US. So nowadays it seems to the US market that HTC is copying Apple and due to the US protectionist patent system HTC and other foreign companies will lose out. Not because they copied Apple, but because of the flawed patent syst
@QnA22 i agree with your assessment in part. I do not think i was attacking HTC was I? This vid is a bit old so i do not remember. I think many patent disputes are worthless from improper judgment of the patent office i what should and should not be protected.
@mrbit10 Thanks, no your comments are very neutral. I agree Apple as a company should defend it's marketshare. But it's the governments task to act in the interest of it's people. The US patent office has 2 problems I think. 1 It allows patent requests with very broad applications. 2. It's defending national companies too much. Number 2 is of course the reason why it was setup and especially in this way, but with the rise of other technations this is a dangerous thing for the people to maintain
I still think the real reason they went after HTC was because HTC is the most vulnerable to this type of case
HTC has no patents them self so no counter suit.
While ultimately the case would fall apart in a court, in the mean time HTC needs to bleed money on defense. HTC could conceivably go bankrupt before seeing their day in court.
I was hoping Google would step in to make it clear that you cant do a run around. But they have not so it will likely settle rather than cost Apple anything
I've read some of Apple's patents and all i can say is, how did such general, wide-sweeping patent got approved? and a lot of the things in their patents already existed before apple patented it as theirs.
There Has Been No Attempt From Google To Crush. A User With Root Access. But Apple Has Crused It's Users With The Same Access..Android Is A Developers DReam
Apple didn't make multi-touch so much cooler than it already was, it's a typical Mac fanboy comment. The ultimate cool factor of muti-touch IS multi-touch.
Even if Apple came up with some extra ideas, who said they didn't get that from elsewhere too? Why are people like you straight-minded to think that Apple is innovation and nothing BUT innovation. Apple is not different than any other company, if they can grab something unique that saves on development costs, then they will.
I just get a little sick and tired of Mac fanboys talking about Apple innovation, when a lot of ideas were copied from others. The defense is always; but they refined it. Refining is NOT innovation in my book. OS/X was not an Apple invention, it's a refinement and extension of a Xerox innovation. And when other manufacturers make something that looks even slightly Apple, all fanboys stand up and make claims that Apple's innovation was stolen.
It's sad they're playing this game ... but yeah on the surface they are doing what they should be able to do (defend their patents) ... they want to be the innovators and not share the wealth? I'm very disappointed in Apple ... I have had a couple HTC's now and follow the Android development on the XDA forums, and I feel this is a shot in the gut to technology advancements and the good of mankind. Shame on you Apple ... let us thrive and learn and grow as a global society!
It's the countless counter-suits which in my opinion is expendable income on Apple's part ... a well played move from a tyrannical and sterile company. In the end it will drain the small competitors dry ... weaken the Android threat ... hold them at bay until Apple's next new gadget releases (or the iPhone 4G for instance).
they all have come up with innovation, WebOS and its use of light background services, Andrid has a better notification panel and push instances, this argument goes in circles.
no, any predetermined path violates that patent, that is the issue. you claim innovation but that is not innovative, just a creative if anything use of existing tech.
As, I see, it's like mouse thing in 70s. It was invented earlier, but they were the first to make it a cool device that everybody uses, those days. Should they patent it cause they made their own one?! 2 buttons and a ball, but the technology that was invented by others?!
then innovation goes out the window, it becomes more of a creative issue vs innovative issue. please, with the gesture deal, it is a too broad use, i doubt it will hold in court, but there are other patents that will be enforced.
all the flurry of lawsuits that highlights Apple crying foul to the industry is making sick. To me, ever since Apple has made shitty looking new products and stupid decisions (such as not offering the 10-keypad on the standard keyboard), They think any intuitive move by other companies are Apple's. That's why I distance myself from Apple today.
Can you copyright a flavor? That's the question. I think you hit the nail on the head, Mr. Bit. Great video, as always. Great to have your expertise and experience.
I don't like this whole patenting idea... I understand that it protects a company's innovations however it might get to the point where before a company creates a device, they first have to read EVERY patent file just in case they don't steal by mistake.
@michaelovesrh I agree with the first part, I wish patenting would be harder to get, but .... that being said ... Companies are obligated to check patents, that's why every big company like Apple and HTC, should have a good legal department. It wouldn't be fair for companies to not have to do their due diligence.

it's loud.... maybe just for me?? maybe because i have good speakers or something i dont know but i have told him before and he does nothing... you would think he would want to keep his subs happy and lower the audio on it... if he doesnt do it or give me a response im un-subscribing... and with just over 2,000 subs he should try and keep them....
@eseayen Well, that's sad, I subscribe because I am interested in the videos, not whether the music is at the right level, but like I said when I listen to a soundtrack for a movie, etc. or watch a BluRay movie, I can hear every beat, and sound effect clearly, and all I have is 2 speakers in stereo.
@eseayen Just mute your speakers when the intro comes on. I personally don't have an issue with it but when I watch other vids where I hate the intro, I just mute the speakers.

great video. I personally think apple has good points and bad points for this lawsuit.. I also read many articles, but i personally think this battle will always be ongoing.. I feel apple might be a little jealous of other companies that can do things better.. I think apple shouldnt be scared of a little competition..
