I have noticed how the interviewer asks questions that he wouldnt dare ask a non traveller. It seems like the interviewer takes liberties when interviewing, Its almost the was rying to get a expose of scandal. There are worst things than travelling people, everyday there is real evil and scum in the papers,
One of these women got divorced because she didn't want to come to live in Ireland. Even the birht of their son didn't save the marriage. The young woman admitted she didn't really know the fellow.
It is admirable how these Travellers uphold a very strict moral code, abstaining from sex before marriage, refraining from filthy language (the ladies, at least), loving their families. I do not approve of girls dropping out of school and devoting themselves to a life of serving the husband, but we cannot impose our lifestyle on them. The customs are bound to change. In the meantime, let us respect them.
I would much rather see young people get married young, and have the parents help them get established, than see young women live with 2 or 3 guys before they get married or people shack up for years. At least these people are making a commitment.
