  • looking in this vedeo at 14:54 area just want to share that the clock under HA shos the position of litle cercil of the vie finder protendin as watch example 5:53 meaning after you position ra 00:12 is this right?

  • My COM1 cable cannot be connected to my PC (for control from Stellarium). I tried connecting it via RJ11 cable (RJ45 from a controller to RJ11 output into PC). Do I change something in Stellarium and how do I do that? It looks as if Stellarium is expecting a telescope to be connected via COM1 port exactly. Just keeps on connecting and connecting ... without any result.

  • Hi in polar finder software I was puting 42 deg on the first box (Dec) on the longitude page than was giving me a wrong position copmare to my scope I just realised in this videi you put on the first box 2 on dec 2 on min 2 on sec for 25 deg .as I have now for mine 4 for dec area 4 min box or area 1 for sec area

is this right what I'm talking about cause this way it does mach with my telescope.

    Thanks

    Refet.

  • @AstroRef68 You put in the logitude of your actual position in degrees hours and minutes.

  • @AstroRef68 I think it needs updatres but I'm mising cables fot it here in poor macedonia.

    thanks.

  • I own a Synscan series. Everything's super, except for me having trouble finding exact coordinates of my location. Any help (source)?

  • @ParaglidingManiac There's a video about that too, have a look in my video titles for one called 'synscan firmware flashing and more' as it also gives a technique for getting and inputting your co-ords.

  • @ParaglidingManiac yes go to Itouch map.

  • Best Demonstration video on youtube. Thank you for doing this.

  • @mpgxsvcd You're welcome, and thanks.

  • Please forgive my ignorance as this is the first GOTO mount I've owned, but what are you referring to when you say that you "calibrated the clock to the transit point of Polaris in the reticule and zeroed the ring; and that it's calibrated to our synscan handset"...before doing a polar alignment? Are you referring to the info in part 1?

I think I've watched too many videos on this and I'm thoroughly confused now. Thought I understood, but I guess I don't. I miss me old clockdrive mount!

  • @OriginalAstroTard Hi, yes, it's all the stuff you did in part one, if you follow each of the videos in this series, each one starts where the last one leaves off, and assumes you've done everything in the previous ones.

  • I have found that the Polaris position reported by the various apps and tools differs... For instance:

    - SynScan and the Windows app Polarfinder (that you were refering to) match

    - Stellarium and Android app Polarfinder also match but they show that Polaris culminates roughly 14mins AFTER the first two...

Any ideia about that? The coordinates are properly set everywhere.

  • @venzibo If the stellarium is on the same PC as the polarfinder prog, have you got matching time and position in both? Same applies to the android polarfinder? I have android polarfinder on my HTC desire and it exactly matches polarfinder on my PC

  • @astronomyshed Stellarium and Polarfinder are on the same PC.

Firstly I spotted the difference betwen SynScan and Android Polarfinder (I also have HTC Desire:). Then I played for some time with the time setting and found out that they are reporting different time for culmination.

    In this scr shot:

I have reversed Stellarium until Polaris is at culmination at 25.09.2011. We can see that this is happening at 3:59:44h.

  • Here's the image (just remove the space, w/o it I wasn't able to post it):

    i55.tinypic. com/294ox89.jpg

I have also put Polaris in culmination in Polarfinder and we can see that this is happening at around 3:46h. So 13-14mins difference...
